Isabelle's reveal was lukewarm for me. I never play Animal Crossing, but I respect what the series is and what it accomplishes. It's just not for me.
I also got Wolf and K. Rool. Along with Phoenix my ultimate top three. And let's face it Phoenix never stood a chance for base game. Not every character is for you.

The hate she got was insane. People made it sound like Sakurai broke his promise of it being "the Special/Ultimate Smash game!" (despite the fact that is more so referring to the fact we got every character back and nearly every stage in existence). As if Isabelle was a complete nobody.

In a case of nested "needs more love" the character themes in F-Zero GX are amazing (Amazingly cheesey or just plain old amazing, depending on your tastes)

The last one needs to be in Smash I swear

Is it copyright holding those songs back from being added?? I wish I knew...

So I was toying around with the idea of Classic Mode themes with unplayable/unconfirmed characters:

Dragonborn - The Dragon War: Battles baser against reptilian/dragon-related characters
  1. Bowser
  2. Yoshi
  3. Pokémon Trainer (Charizard)
  4. King K Rool
  5. Ridley
  6. Corrin
  7. Rathalos
Scorpion - Finish Them: Based on color swaps of the MK Ninjas of characters who have appeared in at least one fighting game.

  1. Ken (Ermac) (SF)
  2. Cloud (Noob Sabot) (Ergheiz)
  3. Purple Lucario (Rain) (Pokken)
  4. White Donkey Kong (Smoke) (Punch-Out)
  5. Green Hoody Little Mac (Reptile) (Same)
  6. Blue Kirby (Sub-Zero) (Kirby battle game forget the name)
  7. Dracula
Isaac - Battle of the Blondes: Battles involving blonde haired characters

Yellow Inkling
Zero Suit Samus and Peach
Blonde Pit
Link, Young Link, Toon Link
Sheik and Zelda
Shulk
Ganon
For Dragonborn, I would try to put Mario in any possible way for his classic mode.
Charles Martinet made the voice of a dragon character in Skyrim. I feel like that should be referenced in any form.

The last song was used in Sonic World!

This is just your point of view. What "betrayal" are you talking about? Simply more people liked Minecraft than people who even played Banjo-Kazooie.

Nah, they're talking about generic white haired girl Corrin.
I don't get why wanting characters in due to their legacy status, is a bad thing, when it's literally why most of the third party characters in Smash even got in, in the first place .

Steve is a legacy character, you really can't deny it.

Minecraft is a worldwide phenomenon that started as a small indie project, and ended up becoming one of the faces of modern day video games, and gaming as a whole...

If that's not eligible for Smash, I don't what is
I feel uncomfortable calling Minecraft’s conquest a legacy. It hasn’t even gotten a sequel yet (bu dum ching)

And Banjos legacy is more than you give it credit for. His game is widely considered one of the best on the N64 (some would even say better than Mario 64), MS still uses him for promo material and merchandise, and Yooka-Laylee happened. Not to mention, he’s been consistently and highly requested for Smash sense the N64 version. Sure. Prefer Steve. But do not diminish the bear and bird like that, especially given what he’s meant to the Smash community as a whole for all these years.

Who said games need to have sequels to be considered legacy games?
Minecraft has had ongoing update since it's debut, and it's still getting some, to this day...
It's also got some spin-off games, if that helps, like Minecraft Story mode and Minecraft Dungeons.
And Banjos legacy is more than you give it credit for. His game is widely considered one of the best on the N64
Um... something's telling me that a certain game came out on the N64, the same exact year...

Sorry, but Banjo Kazooie's got nothing on the legend, that's widely considered the greatest game of all time.

If a game's been around for a decade and still gets new fans, it's safe to say it has a legacy, regardless of what you feel.

Same with Banjo supporters, I don't have to care for what they feel if they're going to get pissed just because people support another character from the same company.

Banjo is possibly bigger deal for the Smash community.
Steve is the bigger deal globally.
Master Chief is kind of in between.

It will depend which business decision they go with. Do they go with one that would please their install base, or one that could potentially sell more software along with the DLC. Chief might increase hardware sales too, since he is a fairly big deal over here and the Switch is on fire.

Now that's settled.

Your post made me remember an animated parody of the first Kid Icarus for NES.

Sadly, it is in Spanish so I can’t share it.

Though I prefer Steve over Banjo, I doubt support of Steve was intended to be an insult to Banjo fans. In fact, Steve supporters want him in for the same reason why Banjo fans want him in: they just love the game, character, and franchise, as well as having a connection to it. That's why I want Steve over Banjo, because while I haven't had a true connection to BK, my entire middle school years was just Minecraft, so I desire Steve in Smash. This isn't meant to be a war, a lot of us are genuine in our support for Steve.

You can still share it for the animation, plus I'm sure some people in here know at least a bit of Spanish.

Both is great, but in the instance that only one had to be chosen, I would go for Steve. But, I don't mean for my preference to be an insult to Banjo fans, it's just a preference.
I know but if we got both Here’s how I see it
One for long time fans(banjo)
And the other for modern gamers aka little brats(Steve)

The Minecraft crack was a joke. Hence the ba dum Ching.

And I didn’t say the best, I said one of the best. In the top 8.

I just don’t understand how you can ignore what he’s meant to all these people for all these years in favor of the new popular kid with all the money. Back in the day he was considered a Nintendo mascot!

A Nintendo toy line. They have all of these characters already. And what do they go with. Mario characters. Fox, and Banjo. A character they had to pay extra licensing to a different company for. He may not have a history with gaming as a whole, sadly left behind as the landscape changed. But he’s fondly remembered not just as a fun game, but as a Nintendo mascot. Even if he wasn’t. And in this, they’re ultimate get together where everyone is here, it feels wrong to leave him out for the popular guy.

I could see them doing both. Maybe throw in whichever one’s not in the pass as a bonus if there’s no pass 2. But if I have to pick just one, we’ll, you know who I’m picking.

I really wish that we could get all the three Microsoft picks (Steve, Banjo and Master Chief).
Sadly, it is something difficult for the Smash team due to the legal stuff and the time they have for the development of DLC.

Sometimes I even find myself wishing for more characters from franchises like Final Fantasy (Sephiroth and Kefka), Dragon Quest (Eight, Erdrick and Dragonlord) or Kirby (Adeleine, Susie and Dark Matter).

Kinda like how it feels wrong to leave the face of modern gaming out, in favor of a character that people simply want because THEY'RE NOSTALGIC?

I can easily ignore other people if they don't care for me, great life hack.

Also new kid? I wasn't even in grade school in N64 days. Minecraft is pretty old for me, considering it's around for years. All the money? If being profitable is a bad thing, Pikachu and Mario also shouldn't be in.

And it's not like Nintendo fans aren't guilty of buying the same game with a new coat of paint every year or so.

You know why they’re bad?

Fortnite

And cod
@JDCabrera , who may be a modern gamer since he was born in 2001 and got invested in the medium after Smash 4, has played to this day:
>Every game on the NES Classic.
>The games from the SNES Classic.
>Megaman StarForce and Battle Network.
>Every Sonic game for NDS alongside the Mega Drive trilogy.
>Sonic Mania.
>Sonic Colours.
>Every Smash game except 64 and Melee.
>Super Mario 64 DS.
>Donkey Kong Jungle Climber.
>Every Mario Kart game after DS, including Arcade GP.
>UMvC3.
>Minecraft.
>Megaman 11.
>Dragon Quest 8.
>Dragon Quest Monsters Joker.
>Every Nintendo game for phones.
>BOTW.
>Hyrule Warriors.
>Every Crash game for PS1, Twinsanity, Titans, MoM, the GBA duology and N.Sane Trilogy.
>Every main Metroid game, Prime Hunters, Blast Ball and the remakes for NEStroid and Return of Samus.
>Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1.
>God Of War 4.
>Uncharted 4.
>Doom 2016.
>Xenoblade Chronicles 1.
>Tropical Freeze.
>Many LEGO games.
>Every main Pokémon game from each generation.
>AM2R.
>Many Spyro games.
>Ultimate Spider-Man for PS2.
>Ratchet & Clank for PS4.
>Spider-Man PS4.

*entering joke mode*
How old are you. The game is only *googles* 9 years old! How the f**k did we let that happen! It was only supposed to be popular for like, a week and then it would die! Like all temporarily popular bad games!
*disingaging joke mode*

But seriously, these were the same arguments I was getting in support of characters like Shy Guy and Piranha Plant. And now you’re using my points against the characters I don’t like to bash a character I do. I feel like I’m running around in circles.
