I was just thinkin, now that we know dlc characters bring Spirits.

I'm very 50/50 on western characters getting in. On the one hand, communication between Eastern devs and Western devs is easier than ever, and series like Crash Bandicoot and Assassin's Creed have found a market in Japan. On the other, Sakurai personally contacting Atlus about Smash makes me question things. It's clear sakurai likes actively talking with the original dev while designing character such as with Nomura, and the language barrier makes that a lot harder. I championed Ezio a lot but the fact that Ubisoft is a French company really would make active communication more difficult.

on the contrary, i propose that pyra and mythra are not two people in one body but instead, two bodies in one people

let us examine the many evidences:
-both know how to draw. HOWEVER, how are they able to pump out so many drawings on two different accounts if they do not have four hands?
-both of them joined smashboards at different times. it can be assumed that pyra joined first and had to convince mythra to join later
-pyra is engaged while mythra is not. however, said fiance would feel quite awkward agreeing to marry someone who is stuck with another person. what if they switch in bed by accident? would be quite strange. quite strange indeed
-being two people in one body means that you share the same bodily functions and the same body parts. and that would be gay. and homosexuality is a sin. god would never let this happen

conclusion:
pyra and mythra are either some sort of eldritch abomination or conjoined twins or conjoined eldritch abomination twins

I think the, "Can't get in because the character is from a Western company" is big dumb.

Like, you telling me they can communicate with Microsoft to get Xbox Live, Cuphead, Minecraft, probably Ori, very likely Rare Replay, and possibly Games Pass, but getting licensing for a character in Smash is just impossible? Because they're from a different country? I highly doubt that. Otherwise Shovel Knight, Rayman, Shantae, etc. Wouldn't be in the game at all.

I am of the opinion that playing characters you don't know about is fine, but you'd get more of the references and an emotional connection with the character playing the source material.

Like, think of a cup and a faucet. A guy with a small cup is gonna get his fill, but someone with a larger sized cup will get more from the faucet. In my case, my cup runneth over.

Honestly, it sounded more along the lines of "Steve isn't in" than "Banjo is in".

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer Banjo over Steve any day of the week.

But this by itself doesn't really make Banjo that more likely. Steve not getting in doesn't mean Banjo will.

Polar's source said 1 person told him Banjo was in and 1 person said Steve 100% wasn't in. There was reason to believe Banjo because of it.

DaybreakHorizon Actually, i’m pretty sure a Halo dev said Master Chief wasn’t DLC.

That would literally leave Banjo. Honestly, the ease of contact and meeting makes me doubt a western character, and i’m frankly not alone in that. vaanrose seems to share the “western devs probably won’t get in” camp. Not to stoke the fires of “sides”, but we just don’t see it.

Granted, again, I can’t come up with another top tier Japanese gaming series, especially if it does end up being 1 per company, unless Hayabusa gets in as a Koei Tecmo character.

While most times I'd agree with you and vaanrose , however, this time I'm going to have to disagree. Banjo would be a great concession to core fans, and I believe he has enough worldwide popularity to carry him alongside Phil Spencer's blessing.

In Persona 5, the thieves get to someone's Palace in the cognitive world by inputting their name, the location their Palace is at, and what they view said place as (for example, the first target of the Phantom Thieves was "Suguru Kamoshida, Shujin Academy, a castle") into an app, and then the app takes them to the Palace.
