Like, OK, I get Hinoka was like upgraded at the last second or something as a member of the Hoshidan royal bloodline due to the team really liking her design, but still, she has a more important role in the story where she is a bad guy! Not the one where you can play as her!

honestly, with the similarities to mewtwo i think it's just a symptom of development coming to a close then slowly winding back up again - sakurai mentioned he was taking a fairly lengthy (by his standards, probably 2 days long) christmas break, so i can assume everyone else in the dev team was doing the same.

development will likely speed back up to a regular release cycle by 3.0.0, though it'll remain to be seen if they pull another cloud and take a random 4 month gap between releases

I'm just surprised they didnt even come up with a few gameplay tidbits.

I think I’m gonna take any and all developers talking about the possibility of their character in Smash during the game’s lifecycle as a sign it isn’t happening.
So I’ve made peace with no Dante. Some day, though. Some day.
Doomguy’s still in the running cause Bethesda’s comments on Smash were all the way back during like E3.

They definitely had the opportunity to show a few moves instead of just the model. Maybe they just wanted to give a quick reminder and dont think there's as much wait impatience(from fans) for dlc characters..
