you don't have to enjoy mc nobody is saying thatSo your saying I have to worship Minecraft or else I'm doing something wrong. I'm not allowed to not like a game and not want it in Smash or else I'm doing something wrong........
Okay, let me put it in more objective terms. Steve in Smash is like putting a Fidget Spinner in Smash. THAT'S why it feels wrong. It feels like we took a trend, extended it WAY past it's allotted lifetime, and now we're honoring it like it's actually amazing.
THAT'S the problem here. He is not a gaming icon, never deserved to become a gaming icon, and should not be a gaming icon. Meme's and trends are not a good reason to immortalize something like this.Steve is a gaming icon.
See above. And the content is not quality. It's shallow, poorly designed, poorly controlling trash (I've actually played Minecraft, so this is an informed opinion), that only caught on because it was easy to exploit in the YouTube algorithm.Maybe people like trends because their content is actually quality?
Smash Bros. Is a fighting game for video game characters. Why wouldn’t Steve belong?
Not when we potentially have limited spaces and there are other more deserving characters. I'm not just talking Banjo. ANY other character belongs here before Steve. He should be the LAST option explored. That’s the thing about Smash, though, isn’t it? Pretty much any game character can be made to have a place. I’m not a fan, as I said, but I’d be interested in how Sakurai and Co. would create a moveset based on his game. I can say the same about a lot of characters I am not into.
I love how the Nipper Plant and Rex are yelling in harmony.Almost time for me to work, today's progress for the Endgame poster. Obvious references are obvious, feel free to throw any more ideas among my already huge list as is.
Yeah how stupid were Nintendo?Didn't we do this exact same thing last week?
Everybody, leave SnakeFighter64 to their opinions.
SnakeFighter64 try to be less aggressive and authoritative with those opinions.
Now let's talk about how the Wii U was a stupid ****in name.
devs flat out saying "no, he's not in"How so?
can't wait until they stop selling the switch and give us what we deserveNow let's talk about how the Wii U was a stupid ****in name.
I agree with this. Iyou don't have to enjoy mc nobody is saying that
the only thing i'm saying is that you're acting as if everyone who likes it is making a mistake
that's incredibly disingenuous and acting as if anybody with different opinions than you is wrong is very, very, very arrogant
I mean, I’m fine with their opinions, just the blatant mindless hate is a bit much. I’d just like to state my opinion on the matter, ya know.Didn't we do this exact same thing last week?

Snake. Bud. Maybe step away for a bit. You're eating up the thread with this.THAT'S the problem here. He is not a gaming icon, never deserved to become a gaming icon, and should not be a gaming icon. Meme's and trends are not a good reason to immortalize something like this.

Fair enough. That's too bad.
i'd do bothdread it or run from it.
I thought that was Zinith’s job.Snake. Bud. Maybe step away for a bit. You're eating up the thread with this.
Not related to the name, but if you want to capture the state of such a system:Now let's talk about how the Wii U was a stupid ****in name.
Mario Kart 8 has a mode where you can play with everyone who owns a Wii U. It is called “single player mode”

That's just your opinion. Minecraft is actually critically acclaimed by many, with the original PC version rocking a solid 93 on Metacritic, and can be constantly found on many greatest games of all time listsSee above. And the content is not quality. Pfft. Memes. That's not why he's a gaming icon. He's insanely recognizable and among merchandise everywhere. That's what makes him a gaming icon. Don't let your bias cloud the facts here. Yes, he is one. You don't have to like it at all. But that doesn't mean it isn't the case whatsoever. The game isn't for you, and that's fine. But dismissing how big of a game it is and how influential it is is just being silly here.THAT'S the problem here. He is not a gaming icon, never deserved to become a gaming icon, and should not be a gaming icon. Meme's and trends are not a good reason to immortalize something like this.
aw **** yeah they should put in a character people actually care aboutANY other character belongs here before Steve. He should be the LAST option explored.
Goddamn, E3 this year is going to feel so much more empty without this guy tweeting about it.Not related to the name, but if you want to capture the state of such a system:

Can you specify? Seems like quality to me.THAT'S the problem here. He is not a gaming icon, never deserved to become a gaming icon, and should not be a gaming icon. Meme's and trends are not a good reason to immortalize something like this.

Then can SOMEBODY explain why? I tried it and had such a poor experience with it, and even conceptually it dosn't make sense to me. It's limited. You can only make whatever you want if that fits within the blocky-3D/8-bit art style and if the game has the EXACT materials and textures you want. Why is such a limited thing popular when you could just draw, or sculpt, or write or actually create something with no limitations? That's just your opinion. Do you also complain about LEGO? I would argue that its kinda like a virtual version of LEGO, plus you are directly interacting with the world so that makes it better. Then can SOMEBODY explain why? Guh-Huzzah! , I think this answers your question.
The movie based off that game was good though, how come no one ever brings that up when taking about video game movies?aw **** yeah they should put in a character people actually care about

**** the second most popular game on the planet. it should be that last option explored
I would be fine with Master Chief to be honest.Well to be honest, if it's not Master Chief, then I dont care who it is. Neither Banjo or Steve really appeal to me that much.
aw **** yeah they should put in a character people actually care about

That's the mistake. That's the problem. It shouldn't have become as popular as it is and people need to wake up and realize how bad and limited the game actually is.Pfft. Memes. wait hol' up i thought the game was based off the movieThe movie based off that game was good though, how come no one ever brings that up when taking about video game movies?
I still don't see any provable argument. You know people don't have to care about your opinions, right? If you don't want Steve in Smash, then you don't want him. It doesn't mean anything as long as you keep using vague and meaningless words like "deserving" and "icon" haphazardly.THAT'S the problem here. He is not a gaming icon, never deserved to become a gaming icon, and should not be a gaming icon. Meme's and trends are not a good reason to immortalize something like this.

Wii U was a good name from a creative POVDidn't we do this exact same thing last week?

No. I don't, but I don't use it as a creative medium. I buy sets and build them to instruction because I want a model of the thing. If I wanted to make something new entirely from my own imagination than LEGO is the last medium I'd think to use.Do you also complain about LEGO? I would argue that its kinda like a virtual version of LEGO, plus you are directly interacting with the world so that makes it better.
see sfpeople need to wake up and realize how bad and limited the game actually is
As I said, I’m not a fan either, I’d just be curious what the creative team would do with him. But I wouldn’t go as far as to classify a character as more or less deserving. That type of thinking is really subjective and dependent on the group you’re asking. I think a lot of old-school characters, some more obscure than others (shout outs to my robotic friend M-308), from some side-scrolling games are more “deserving” than characters like Banjo....Not when we potentially have limited spaces and there are other more deserving characters. I'm not just talking Banjo. ANY other character belongs here before Steve. He should be the LAST option explored.
Lego Movie, much? No. I don't, but I don't use it as a creative medium. I buy sets and build them to instruction because I want a model of the thing. If I wanted to make something new entirely from my own imagination than LEGO is the last medium I'd think to use.
