Steve? Because of how big Minecraft is. No way is Nintendo gonna pass that opportunity up.

Then the other two would be added for promotional reasons. Same with Erdrick given its popularity in Japan and new Dragon Quest game coming out.

I 100% agree Nintendo wouldn't want to pass Minecraft money up.

Erdrick I could see happening.

This is coming as someone who supports Shantae and Banjo and hasn't given up on either.

Steve? Well, Diamond tools are iconic to Minecraft.
Byleth? It's Fire Emblem sword time!
Gen 8 Pokémon? One of them will wield a sword like item.

I feel like Steve won't necessarily be primarily a sword user...

At the start of the game, he's stuck with just his bare hands, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's his ideal way to attack, with a lot of his other attacks possibly using other weapons, including a sword

It was mostly a joke based on the "bias" against sword users.

I do see Steve using a Sword at some point but a pickaxe for more attacks. Diamond Picks are of course huge to the point of Steve having it in promo materials.

Speaking of Gen 8, I really want one of the five DLC characters to be a Pokémon. Timing is really close this time, and if Sakurai/Nintendo passes this opportunity, the world's first Pokémon Gen made for home consoles might not get a character or a stage in Smash. By the time the next Smash comes out, we could be approaching Gen 10.

sword is for smash attacks.

His neutral attacks are squids.

A concept that you could use is that Steve needs to build tools through a command input, kinda like Limit that caps at varying levels. Once he chooses one of 'em, he has to stick with it and can't use the move again or maybe have it be replaced by a special move exclusive to the tool

LVL 1 - Wood
LVL 2 - Stone
LVL 3 - Iron
LVL MAX - Diamond

And he can use whatever variant he uses until it breaks, kinda like Robin's weapon/tome gimmick, and he has to craft it all over again.

Any of you playing Smash online, if you're connected via Wi-Fi and your router supports a 5GHz signal, connect to that if you can. 2.4GHz has way more latency and jitter compared to 5GHz. 5GHz is almost as good as being connected with a LAN adapter.

I’m still not interested for it to be one of the remaining 4 but I guess that’s fair enough in that sense.

And I'm surprised, because Pokémon is literally the only Nintendo franchise where both realistic additions and unique moveset potential are always abundant. A new Pokemon character is guaranteed to be cool in my book.

Plus, this could be Gen 8's only opportunity to avoid becoming Smash's next Gen 3. For those of you who are interested in a Pokemon from Galar, speak now and show your support, or forever hold your peace.
