The DS version kinda sucks since the d-pad is awful for 360 degree movement and thus only 8-direction movement is programmed into the game. I would go for the romhack tbh

The indie thing counts as a indies direct, right?
And we usually get a nintendo direct a week or two after an indies direct, right?

Steve doesn't really count as indie when he's currently owned by a giant corporation. It's like giving charity money to a rich person because they used to be poor.

Maybe, but Steve could also represent the major success that indies could potentially have in the longrun....

Minecraft went from a game designed as a small little project, to a billion dollar IP in a matter of a couple years

It's success is an important story to the indie industry, and gaming as a whole

Yeah, I'll probably go with the rom hack. Was what I was leaning towards anyways, but setting those up is a bit of a pain, so that's why a part of me was thinking about playing SM64 DS instead.

Why are y'all acting like there's going to be a character reveal during the indie direct? This has never happened at an indie direct before, and it would likely take away attention from the indie games shown in the presentation. And i'm going to be mad if they have an indie rep that isn't shovel knight.

It's probably too soon for them to reveal another DLC character anyway, we still have 11 months left in the year and only four characters.

Tbh though it probably won't happen it would be cool if every Smash amiibo unlocked a new costume for Bayo in 3

Monado Bayonetta all the way at that point

You guys would be insane to think we'll get an indie rep. Shovel Knight, the biggest indie chad of all time was given an AT. Why would any other indie character be given an entire character slot?

Truth be told, I like SM64DS a lot (a quick look at my username would probably reveal why, lol), but I'll admit it doesn't control as nicely as SM64 does, which is probably why I'm going with the romhack. SM64DS is probably my favorite of the two because of all the new content, but it just doesn't control as nicely. Kind of similar to my feelings on LM3DS, actually: I like just about everything in the handheld version better than the original, apart from the controls.

...Man, I would love to see a legit Mario 64 remake someday.

An Undertale character is the most likely indie rep we’d see. They have the popularity in both the west and east, plus the game is on Sakurai’s radar.

I watched some Japanese reactions to the August direct

Definitely heard some people freak out when Shovel Knight appeared on screen

I can't get over my RE2 Collectors Edition being cancelled without reason three days before release. I think every post I make for the next three days is going to be about that. I'm sorry guys. I'm in shock.
