I've been thinking about doing it to learn how to take advantage of advancing guard and such.

I also REALLY need to sit down in the lab and get my Akuma better.

Probably not. This isn't Super Shortcut Fighter IV. You need actual execution to play on this game.

At the very least use the analog stick on the 360. I never could but it seems to work for a lot of people.

Is it just me or is the timing for america's favorite combo more strict than most? Or do I suck that much at doing DP inputs?

I messed around in the lab a bit till I could continuously do purifications in a row for a decent period. For some reason I mess up when it comes time for it in-match, mid-combo, or when changing distances but I am SO much more consistent than it has ever been. Still trying to step it up, though.

Also how big is the buffer window in this game? How should I mentally prepare to abuse dorm's zoning game? I understand that I'm containing my opponent depending on where they are by using the infinitely-traveling purifications but I'm curious if I can get more specific advice on the subject?

Sorry to just jump in and ask numerous questions; I've only played smash in terms of fighting games so this style confuses me. XP

I don't really use Dorm at all BUT.....

Lay lots of flame carpets, teleporting after dark hole hit confirm to combo seems to be a good idea.

Also call in the fire ball after killing a character, puts instant pressure on your enemy.

Also practice purification OTG into Chaotic flame :D

You're talking about OTG -> X-Factor -> Level 3 Super? Start the DP motion when you X-Factor. This combo can't be done without X-Factor or an assist, even in the corner.

Practice combos in arcade mode. It won't help you in terms of mindgames against an actual player but it will let you get used to doing combos and inputs under pressure.

I can't give an answer in terms of a specific number of frames, but it is fairly large.
