IMPORTANT NOTE/EDIT: Mr. Robotto Mr. Robotto (as a sheet's creator)
Just wanted to inform that all spirits are now given release dates (for unordered spirits) and transparent backgrounds, so I think they're fine to include now. Even though I still believe we should give "other/misc. series" spirit page a overhaul by separating them after companies (especially those with fighters).

Thanks goes to airConditioner airConditioner for helping me out.

ANOTHER EDIT/NOTE: Alright Mr. Robotto Mr. Robotto , now Gilgamesh & Ki and Mutant Rick has transparent renders.

I'll remove it, but I thought on updating some spirits like this, because we got NxC's Dig Dug 2 remix in a music submission doc and this would've felt like a missed opportunity. I also had Mappy in plans at first with Glasses/Cap Pikachu and Clear Pac-Man using Up Specials replacing Shiny Incineroar, before I decided to skip that.

What do you mean?

Ms. Pac Man
Ms. Pac-Man series
Legend class support - Great autoheal

Stage: Pac-Maze
Song: Ms. Pac-Man
Opponents: Pac-Man (red bands)
Rules: No-frills battle

The Jill & Drill Dozer spirit is now an Ace class support that grants Made of Metal. She is still summoned with Duster and Drill Man.

The Muddy Mole spirit is now an Ace class primary. He is a grab type with no trait and 1 slot. The Spirit battle's song is changed to Beach - Mole Mania, DK is swapped for red scarf Pichu, the Muddy Mole AT spawns occasionally, and Pichu now favours grabs. Everything else is the same

The Toadette master spirit is now called Captain Toadette. A regular Toadette spirit is added, a novice class primary who enhances to Peachette, who is still an ace but now grants Floaty Jumps. The Spirit Battle is the same as Peachette's but made significantly easier (notably with the removal of the timer)
This is what I mean:

Apologies, but I'm not sure if Jill and Muddy Mole should be ace spirits, considering some characters such as Andy are only advanced. But I'd be fine with giving Muddy the advanced treatment.

That's fair. If we go with that, Muddy would be upgraded to a Bury Immunity and Jill would be completely reverted. I think it'd be better to upgrade other characters like the aforementioned Andy to Ace or Legend though, as obscure characters being Aces and Legends isn't completely new territory, such as with Prince of Sable.

Now that you bring up that example, I could accept Jill being ace spirit.

I think that's fair. Jill has a bigger following than Muddy to my knowledge and is a more powerful character (one's just a mole who rescued his 7 kids one time, the other is a prodigal thief who has thwarted both a corrupt police force and rival gang) so it makes sense to upgrade her to Ace but only upgrade Muddy to advanced.

Job #125: Submit a Third Party Fighter Prompt!
So on the tails of Kazuya getting in, we will be adding another third party character to Infinite! Kazuya actually has affected some of our planned third party prompts planned so we're going to move a prompt we had planned for later on up here. Additionally, the job we had planned here didn't particularly align with any of the desired requests voiced at yesterday's E3 discussion, so what better way to rectify this than with a thread submitted prompt! While our discussion was over E3, our game timeline is not at E3, but rather a Smash direct, with Grovyle & Celebi and DJ Octavio already revealed so keep that in mind. Additionally Capcom characters and Activision characters are out of the running since we've already added characters from those companies. Furthermore, to address a specific suggestion voiced yesterday, while a Sony character may be something we specifically aim to include in the future, since none of them have made Nintendo console appearances (to my knowledge) they will not be eligible for this job, nor any other non specific third party jobs.

So essentially, submit a third party fighter prompt which you will think best compliment both reveals of this direct and our current third party selection! Please provide the criteria of your prompt and why it would help our current roster.

Third Party Prompt: Niche Company

Whenever people talk about third parties in Smash, they only ever talk about the big names. It's why so many are insistant that we need more Western characters in a Japanese game. As such, I propose we flip the script by adding a character from a third party company that is anything BUT big. Nippon Ichi, Falcom, insert Indie company here, you name it. The time has come for the little guy to shine!

Prompt: Add a side character from a game without a main character!

Ultimate is experimenting with foregoing the main character in favor of a side character, with Min Min, Pythra, and Kazuma. Let's do that again! We can do this for a game without a rep (such as, hypothetically, Vergil or Sub-Zero) or a side character from a rotating cast series (like Kefka, Zero, or Soma Cruz). Characters who have their main character already in, like Tails or Tifa, aren't allowed for this prompt.

Prompt: Finish the fighting game lineup and add a Mortal Combat Character

SNK and Capcom are the two fighting games staples (aside from MvC but that's licensed) giving us some of the most beloved fighting game staples, but there is one more franchise that has to be tapped, MORTAL KOMBAT.

The prompt is simple submit a mortal kombat fighter, not only will we get a more mature character in the game but we will have our first Midway Rep (Pacman is a Namco rep).

With Mortal Kombat being an iconic franchise not represented yet and having a healthy (although controversial) representation in Nintendo.

All in all a simple but effective prompt that should be sewn.

Third Party Prompt Submission

An Indie Character

The indie scene is huge nowadays, with a ton of great characters, and deserves more representation than it's getting. It's high time Smash gets an actual indie character (Steve might count to some, but with Minecraft having been bought by Microsoft several years before his addition, he doesn't technically count to many).

And with regards to "complementing the Direct's other reveals"? With how varied indie characters are, it'd be easy to find characters that would fit in with the cartoony Pokemon and Splatoon characters.

Job 125

Prompt: Submit a popular Game/Series from outside the speculation scene who has no playable fighters in Smash.

So this one will take some explaining to get exactly what I'm looking for across, but I think it's an important one to have every so often. So often some characters end up in the spec scene and just stay there so long it feels like they're the only ones who have a shot, or they feel like they have such a great shot that nobody else really stands out. This seems to be a problem for 3rd parties especially. And right or wrong, it feels like so many good picks pick up no traction in the spec scene because of it. I'll make a list of what does and doesn't count as being a part of the scene to avoid confusion now.

Characters/series that would not be allowed to be submitted under this prompt:
Characters who have been main stays of the scene for years - Geno, Lloyd, Rayman
Characters who were only a part of the speculation scene in the base roster and dropped off after- Shovel Knight, Shantae, Shadow
Characters who were fairly silent during the base game but blew up for DLC - Ryu Hayabusa, Doom Guy
Characters who were big but fell out via deconfirmation - Geno, Monster Hunter
Characters who aren't a major part of the spec scene due to them being pretty niche - Adol, Rean
Characters who got big via fake leaks and dropped off after those didnt pan out- Reimu, KOS MOS
Characters who crop up around E3 or the VGAs and then go away once they're not revealed - Master Chief

Characters who I would say qualify for this prompt:
Characters/series that aren't brought up for Smash often if at all - Plenty of examples exist of these
Characters/series that are brought up as alternatives to popular characters but not much else - Dovahkiin, Spyro
Characters or series who may get tossed around but aren't considered favorites
Characters who were/are popular outside of spec but aren't in the scene due to one major argument or another

To sum it all up, this prompt is supposed to be used to create something like the moment we had when Joker was revealed. The feeling of a huge addition to the Smash roster that makes perfect sense, but just wasn't discussed much if at all. Speculation needs shake ups every so often, and this prompt is set up so that happens once again. As I've said many times before, so many great additions to the roster exist out there who would be perfect characters for Smash who just get ignored.

Job 125 - Submit a Region-Centric Third-Party
Obviously personal bias here, but any character that's niche in one region will get a lot of doubt surrounding their chances, regardless of their impact or their size in their home countries. I think it'd be nice to throw characters of this caliber a bone, especially since a decent amount of people seem to believe they're more suited for the base game rather than DLC.

I'd just say "Japan-Centric," but that feels too limiting and biased. Also clarified it has to be a third-party since that's what the job is supposed to be about.

Job #125: Submit a third party fighter from a genre not currently represented with a series that has a playable fighter in Smash.

This one is somewhat straightforward. As a celebration of gaming, I think it would be a good idea for Smash Bros to branch out to represent types of games which don't really have a spot in the roster at the moment. I think this would be a good way both to expand the net of players who would be enticed towards Smash, and could help serve as a good starting point for a unique newcomer, as a character from a different genre is likely to bring different mechanics.

Here are some examples that could be used.
Master Chief/Doomslayer - FPS
Reimu - Schmup
Arle/Professor Layton - Puzzle
Crazy Dave - Tower Defense
Skyrim/Fallout Protag - Open World RPG
Chosen Undead - Soulslike (Yes I do think this can be considered its own genre now with the amount of copycats)
Phoenix Wright - Visual Novel

You get the picture, now keep in mind I said genres not represented by a series, not a fighter, I did this for a reason, to avoid confusion.
As an example, you could say Dr. Mario represents puzzle games, and Link represents Open World RPGs. However neither the Mario series nor Zelda series are majority puzzle games or majority open world games respectively, so I don't think they qualify.

Third party prompt:
An obscure third party who fills the niche of a more popular and/or commonly speculated fighter.

Basically a lesser known or lesser speculated 3P character who shares abilities, a theme, a genre, or an aesthetic with a more popular request, be them third or first party.

Examples would be Knight & Ostrich from Joust in place of Balloon Fighter or Shovel Knight; Plok in place of Rayman; Boy from Moon RPG in place of Frisk; Duke Nukem in place of Doomguy or Master Chief; Creation Hero from Drawn to Life instead of a fourth Mii or Sackboy; a countless number of indie spiritual successors: so on.

I'll make this prompt better:

Prompt: Add our 5th Traditional Fighting Game Character.

Let me explain (even though I don't really think it needs any explaining); Traditional Fighting Game is an umbrella term for Fighting Games that are mechanically more traditional in terms of playstyle, this includes combos and inputs. These games could either be 2D or 3D, and a character hailing from one of these games would have the typical gimmicks you'd expect like an auto-turn. This does not include Platform Fighters like Rivals of Aether or other more Experimental Fighting Games like ARMS.

This way we wouldn't necessarily limit ourselves to Mortal Kombat only, but other iconic and noteworthy Fighting Game franchises like:
  • Branch out to other SNK properties like Art of Fighting, King of Fighters, Savage Reign, etc... or include a 2nd Fatal Fury representative
  • Finally do some justice and perform a favor for Arc System Works by including Guilty Gear or BlazBlue
  • For French Bread, Melty Blood or UNIST
  • Represent the Bandai Namco Fighting Game scene even further with Soul Calibur or another Tekken representative
  • the list goes on and on...
Unfortunately, due to our earlier Capcom prompt we would have to abstain from including a Street Fighters or Darkstalkers rep, for now at least. I believe now is the perfect time to include one for Infinite as we've probably had our final Traditional Fighting Game character for Ultimate revealed.

These EarthBound spirits are missing from the "Not yet on Wikia" section of the Spirit doc.

Mother and Splatoon spirits will be closing tomorrow, so get in any final submissions you may have. Also, While I did include Porky as a spirit, that does not disconfirm as a fighter nor a boss for future submissions.

The reasons for why I chose these to include are relatively simple. Porky and Porky in mech are pretty self explanatory as he is perhaps the most discussed spirit omission. I also included the King Statue as it was prominent in Brawl. New Age Retro Hippie was a sticker in Brawl, and Devil Car was both a sticker in Brawl and a smash run enemy. Final Starman is on the cover art of Earthbound, so I figure it warrants an inclusion. Baby Drago is on Lucas's shirt in one of his alts, so with a presence in smash already it makes sense for it to be made into a spirit. Mecha Drago is a boss in Mother 3 which makes for an easy summonable spirit and has plot relevance, as it kills hinawa, so I also decided to include it.

I'm not very familiar with the mother series which is why I mainly selected ones that already had some presence in smash, with the exception of the Mecha Drago which I found on the Baby Drago wiki page and thought it warranted a spirit.

Add a fighter from a Western IP

It’s understandable that almost all of Smash’s roster has Japanese-owned characters. After all, many video game companies are based there, as well as the companies who make Smash possible. But as we all know, games and game companies span the world, and Smash could use some more IP’s from the West. Currently we only have Banjo and Steve-and I guess K. Rool and Diddy Kong sorta count too. Infinite itself has yet to receive a Western fighter, so I think it’s high time for one.
EDIT: That was a mistake on my part. Crash Bandicoot is a Western IP. However I still think another Western pick is warranted given the sheer amount of possible choices and the fact that he is our only Western rep so far.
As for who, there are tons of notable picks-namely the hundreds and hundreds of indie characters from the US. While we have knocked out a lot of potential indies with our stages and mii costumes, there are still plenty left to choose from. On the other end of the spectrum, lots of uber-popular series come from the West as well, such as Fortnite, GTA, Call of Duty, Angry Birds, and-dare I say it?-Five Nights at Freddy’s. There’s also Assassin’s Creed, Mortal Kombat, Plants vs. Zombies, Portal, Halo, Overwatch, Destiny, Doom, Psychonauts, Mass Effect, and tons of others.
What I’m trying to say is that there are a TON of potential newcomers from the West and there aren’t many Western characters in Smash as it stands, so this niche is more than worthy enough for a job prompt.

Ahri (League of Legends) and Monokuma (Danganronpa). Both have games coming out sometime this year on the switch.
Oh! Yeah, of course! That should be alright!

For some reason my mind understood your sentence as "cancelled games" for Switch instead of... "unreleased". I should probably stop multitasking and focus on one certain thing at a time.

In fact, I'm pretty sure there have been Spirits submitted for games not-yet-released, more specifically for Pizza Tower. So that kind of content was always on the table for Spirits and Newcomer Characters alike. Go ahead.
