I think Animal Crossing characters would be better off serving as cameo appearances rather than full-fledged playable characters. Does anyone from that game look like they have a fighting spirit?
I guess it'd still be better that having a nintendog playable - that would be just ridiculous...
well on the official ssb brawl site all of the items, characters, songs, etc. have icons corresponding to which game series they're from.
ones that dont have a corresponding playable character (like the battlefield stage, random character trophies, etc.) have the generic smash bros. icon.
the thing is that an animal crossing stage, item, and music have been posted and they all have that litle leaf thing from animal crossing as their icon. that probably means that an animal crossing character will be playable.
it'll probably be either tom nook, k.k. slider, or a basic human character from the game .
but thats just hat i think...

Yeah but the reason that battlefied doesn't have any series symbol is because it isn't based on any series. Smashville is based on AC and so has the AC symbol, like the AC music and item. However it does not necessarily follow that because there is a symbol there is character representation. It of course does not harm their chances, but just because there is no precedant does not mean that it could not happen. After all if we based our expectations on what would appear in Melee purely on what occurred in the original, suggestions of franchises without stages or character transformations would have been laughed at. I'm not saying that an AC playable character won't be including, I'm just saying that practically nothing is confirmed until it is actually confirmed.

"Heroes always arrive late"...

Hmmmmm.

I doubt that there won't be an AC character, although Vali is perfectly correct.
Too bad Tom Nook seems rather unlikely with him appearing in the background.
I'll just trust Sakurai to make the best decision.

Tom would rock, though. =D

If that were the case, then the Devil would have gotten a Demon World logo, and Dr. Wright would have gotten a Sim City logo.

Only those franchises that need logos have one.

You have logos associated with a character, the logo is displayed behind their percentage and everything.
And if you search very closely, you'll see that there's a logo when you select a stage. Yep, there.

There is NO other place that we know of that supports these logos. When you select Lip's Stick in the item switch menu, I don't recall seeing a Panel de Pon logo anywhere.

And only those items and such that are associated with a franchise already represented get a logo.

Hum. I think an AC character is a great idea... but I'd rather have K.K Slider. Since he's awesome and all.
Go Tom Nook for Brawl though!

I would have thought Nook would be in it, but the Smashville stage threw me off (with Tom Nook being in the background). Maybe a different Animal Crossing character will make it in. How about the AC character that lifts weights and uses a punching bag? I forgot his name...it's usually a duck or an eagle I think.

Copper? He's cool. I don't think Nook in the backround proves anything. The only thing that will surely disprove him if he's an AT. Ressetti is a favorite as well.

Right behind you with a knife.
What was, and still it, weird about Nook there was that he wasn't even dressed up like he normally is. You'd think he'd be there in his starting apron, or in the business suit.

I for one still have hope for him. He's the best canidate. No ifs ands or buts.

Could this be a clue that he's in?

Maybe that's not Tom Nook...I have to say....He's the Animal Crossing character, if any, i'd hope to get in.

Of course an animal crossing rep is obvious, even to all but the most arrogant.

Better than the "Animal Crosser" Suggestion

Yeah, at least Nook has a specified appearance unlike the Animal Crosser.

Having finished watching the Animal Crossing movie (the full length anime film released last year in Japan), I can say Tom Nook's shown to be a regular powerhouse.

Aside from casually lifting crates and cargo that other characters are shown struggling to lift, one scene in particular shows Nook racing through the snow, pulling a cart loaded with heavy cargo. He's at a sprinting pace towing this when someone cuts in front of him, and Nook brings it to a dead stop in one swift motion.

That's some serious stopping power right there.

I wonder if we'll ever get the DVD here. It'd be nice if we could get the Japanese dub along with the English dub. Maybe ADV will pick it up.

Ay. It just came out on DVD in Japan in late July, so hopefully it will get picked up for, if nothing else, subtitling for an American release.

I was surprised, it was a really cute movie, very faithful to the game, and had an interesting storyline. If you're a fan of things such as AzuManga DaiOh, or Lucky Star, you'd probably really like this movie.

Not only that, he used to be a cage fighter before he set up shot.

Well....

I don't know about the truth behind that particular piece of info...

However, I can establish based on his routine that he does have impressive stamina, strength, and technique. The manner in which he stocks objects of various weight and size, moving them not only around his shop but also up a flight of stairs, and the manner in which he's able to move while carrying a heavy load, plus being able to come to a complete stop without being overpowered by its momentum...

...it leads me to believe that he's in great shape. Add to that his own 'ordnance' of hardware available at his shop, shovels, fishing rods, paint buckets, couches, fridges, bug-catching nets, etc., and you've got a fairly dangerous fighter.

Add in to all of that the concept of him suddenly zipping across the stage with a delivery cart full of heavy objects and you've got a bulldozing fighter. Add in to that the fact that he's a tanuki, and you've got someone who can also flutter his tail to slow his descent (think of Mario's 'slow landing' ability in Mario Bros. 3) or turn into a stone statue as a defensive measure (think tanuki suit). On top of that, consider his ability to hurl cute little leaves that transmogrify into furniture mid-flight, dealing random damage based on what type of object they turn into (i.e., fridge, pillow, stove, bed, chair, etc.) That, to me, sounds like a pretty good wealth of data with which to make an excellent fighter, and a great representation of the Animal Crossing series.

...And I still love the idea of his Final Smash involving him whipping out a GameCube, punching the reset button on it, and summoning forth a demonic Mr.Resetti, who bursts out of the stage wielding dual-pick-axes and giving off firey trails, slashing randomly at your competition...

Makes me giddy to think of it.

Then I'm definitely getting it. First, I need to get a newboxset because my old one is getting scratches. One of them can't view the best episode of all, the Bonkuras episode.

I have to warn you, the DVD currently available is only Region 2, meaning it won't work with standard American DVD playing technology. I do have a link to the film in its entirety (albeit broken up into sections) on YouTube, but you'd have to request it via a private message as its been suggested I hesitate in posting links to it in the forums.

I already knew it's Region 2. As for a link, I won't bother asking due to legal issues. Regarding anything illegal, I'll only do anything fan-related that shouldn't even be illegal.

Ay, I'm all for fan-dubbing and such if a series or movie isn't available here any other way (i.e., the only way you could see it short of grabbing a plane and a passport)

Of course once a series becomes available Stateside I always acquire them through legal means....

Also, I want to go on the record saying the Animal Crossing movie is the most faithful to the original concept videogame movie I've ever seen. Its use of in-game concepts, music, character designs, elements, events, and so on, is nothing short of amusingly stunning.

I can't understand Japanese so I have no idea what is going on in the movie...
I can translate most of it into a summary if you like, it's not that tricky.

YOU DARE INSULT ALGUS?!

YOU MUST DIE!!!!

j/k
:p

My wrath's been incurred. You have no idea how angry a letter I can write! Ooh, my pen's aquiver with angry ink! And the stationary, is the angriest stationary I own!

But really, it would seem to me that most every Animal Crossing fan I tell about Brawl immediately asks me if Tom Nook's playable. Whether they are eager or afraid doesn't matter, they just seem to be excited by the fact.

You know, if he gets in, I want him to die an honorable death in a fanfic I'm planning.
