I often find that talking about whatever I feel like is the best route, if somebody isn't bothered to offer any sort of direction to the conversation (and this is very often the case), then screw it I'll be leading and talking about whatever I feel like.

What they feel about the topic of conversation is irrelevant, if they have a problem they can speak up and change it, so yeah, I tend to let myself talk because I love the sound of my own voice. Honestly if you have enough conviction in what you say you can talk about anything and not look stupid.

That's actually a good pointer for introverts such as myself and the others here, Teran. Could possibly help when with a group of people. I tend to feel dissociated from group conversations because it is hard to feel when it is appropriate to chime in. Maybe to put it in another way, it is hard to feel you're in the group, and as a result look for openings to pop in then back out again. Do people get that feeling sometimes?

And it is interesting that extroverts tend to suck at talking over technology, yet introverts feel more comfortable and can flesh out what they want to say more. I'm notorious for my long texts and messages with my friends, and I'm also notorious for not talking in person for the majority of the time.

Hm, well honestly the reason you're good at talking at length when it comes to technology is the confidence you have in your knowledge of the subject. You feel you're in the driver's seat when you talk about tech.

I can relate to feeling a little detached from some group conversations because some topics and such could be related to inside jokes and memories that you're not a part of, but for general group conversations, just sit back and listen attentively, and you should just feel when there's a natural opening for you to talk, if you actually do have something to say that is. You should never have to force yourself to say something, you should always talk because you actually have something you want to say. Personally, I ensure this by trying as hard as I can to become the director of conversation, that way I am always in control, I pull the strings and others have to work to dance to my tune. This can make you look more socially adept than you actually are. Tbh, I can talk about pretty much anything, but so can most people, the key is most people don't have a strong sense of conviction in their tone when they talk about things outside their usual realm, or just shy away.

Honestly though, I don't really know if any of these things help. I don't really think hard about the way I present myself, well, not in the moement, I just look back on my behaviour patterns and extrapolate from them. A large part of it is instinctive, we can make conscious efforts I suppose, but I don't know how many people are willing to just jump over the hurdle of perceived awkwardness. I'm not particularly bothered if I say something stupid or trip over my words (I get tongue tied quite often because I speak faster than I think), but a lot of people are and that holds them back.

When I was 3 years old I was give a toy microphone, I marched around the house for around 4 hours straight just talking everyone's ears off. Then my dad tried to take it away, so I ran across the house bellowing "THEY WON'T LET ME TALK! THEY'RE NOT LETTING ME TALK!"

Some of us were just born to be gobby :p

Thanks Teran. ^_^ I'll think about these things and try to remind myself when in groups, or any situation really, couldn't hurt.

You're probably more gabby because you're gay. Just messing, though there may be some truth to that. But yeah, appreciate the wisdom.

I dunno, I know plenty of awkward gay introverts, and plenty of awkward introverted girls. There is an element of truth to it in some cases though, especially among effeminate gays, I mean oestrogen is directly linked towards verbal skills and articulation, and all the assessments I've ever had of my abilities have shown extremely strong verbal abilities. Still ironically my most dominant hormone is testosterone (believe it or not, a lot of men aren't testosterone dominated), which gives me my analytical and decisive personality.

I hope to God the only children you raise are girls. XD

Honestly if you have boys I'd have to consider becoming their adoptive father out of concern for their manhood.

No offence babydoll :3

Sigh, I've never been so disgusted with myself in regards to Brawl up until now. I feel terrible, play terrible, then mope about it here. Idk what I even want to do anymore, I can never stick with my decisions.

Also, I'm also getting tired of my fickleness in general. I can never seem to ever make a decision and stick to it 100%, which is weird since I'm usually pretty confident with my decisions in most affairs, but I've been so easily swayed as of late.

I'm pretty fickle too!

And back when my Brawl worked way back when, I used to go into the random matchup and feel victorious winning every time, but when I enter tournaments I always get my *** handed to me. It's okay. :bee:

Well hey now! There would ideally be another guy raising them with me. So, he can teach them how to play sports. But I liked bugs and cars and dinosaurs as a kid. I used to beat up a lot of kids as a child, actually. So, if he's anything like me as a kid, he will be badass *cool shades* I was a normal boy at one point, believe it or not. girls have periods and vaginas and pregnancy. I wouldn't be so adept to handle girl problems.

It's okay, girls have their girlfriends to help them through stuff, it's guys that need a good male figure. :)

Girls need that overprotective, overbearing male figure though, right?

And I don't know what the hell my dominate hormone is, I must not have a lot of estrogen due to my lack of articulation and verbal skills, and like hell am I decisive. Analytic in ways, I guess.

What the **** am I? Screw you mother nature.

Males aren't the only ones that lump females into gender roles and expectations of women.

Females have expectations of males just the same.

They are thinking just as much in genders and using stereotypes/ societal norms

If I had a quarter for every time I heard a woman say "don't trust guys. All of them want sex. All of them." and then go right around and talk about how the best guys do this and that, I would have enough money to buy a jetski.

Same here.

Offline you'll be lucky to get conversation out of me. I'll say Hi, ask how you are, and that's pretty much it lol.

Even in chats online (like a group skype chat or xat chat, stuff like that), I usually don't participate in conversation unless someone says my name or talks to me directly. I'll throw in a smiley that fits the conversation every now and again, say a few words that fit the conversation, or say hello/bye to someone, but that's really it. I'm just not a talker altogether xD.

See I feel exactly the opposite sometimes dependent on the situation. If it is somewhere I am confident or I am in a good mood, I can find myself talking to someone about life and what is going on and just anything that comes to mind. The only awkward part is when you run out of conversation and you both don't know what to say afterwards.

Online, I always feel much stupider in conversations especially if they are mass group conversations like skype or aim or the like. I do primarily what Joey does.

I used to be like deathly quiet in all situations where I just nodded and the like to get conversations going. Then I got involved in theatre and now I can't shut up hahaha.

I thought band would do the same thing theatre did for J, since it usually does for most people. It worked sophomore year, but then last year ruined it when I was depressed lol. Made me go right back into my shell.

It's funny how activities like sports/art programs can make people become so social. It's a really awesome thing unless the people you're forced to be around are total jerks lol.

Speaking of which, marching band starts for me Monday. REALLY not happy about it. I feel like band was part of the reason why I felt the way I did back in March/April, and I can't shake off the feeling that it's going to start all over again. :/.

We are pretty similar then. I remember a sort-of friend at school in my class said something once to everyone around, "Jacob (that's me) doesn't talk to you. You talk to Jacob". XD Oddly enough that describes me perfectly, on Facebook, on the phone, in person, you have to initiate, otherwise I'll just make do with myself and do something solitary.

I'm not like most people who feel really uncomfortable if no one around is talking. In fact, I HATE when people have the tendency to say that out loud. I mean, if no one wants to talk, why not entertain yourself? That's my natural instinct, but others are basically the opposite. They look around to everyone else and have a come apart without assistance. I guess it is because this generation is so connected.

Confidence is the key it would seem. Teran appears to suggest that as well, courage in the definition of not caring about the outcome, just kind of talking and doing, and stopping or changing upon seeing the reaction, and not stopping beforehand.

Don't worry about band, things don't have to be the same. Get that confidence and roll with it, don't drop it for any reason.

I'm reall ystarting to dislike my living enviornment. I hate my landlord always going into my room to make sure it's clean. This morning I had to spend like 10 minutes cleaning up up my room because I knew that while I was gone my landlord would be in my room. I really need to start looking past my possible failing health, and get my life together, do my drivers license and get my car so I can move out of there already.

My ears have been bothering me a great deal since Saturday. And now my right ear is getting bad pain... Ugh, if this keeps up imma' have to go to the doctor, because I don't wanna keep dealing with this discomfort... I'm thinking it's an ear infection, cuz I feel pain but really no hearing loss. But man... It's really bothering me. :(

On days like this I wish I was actually friends with my-coworkers.

I wasn't able to bring lunch with me today, and if they were going out to buy lunch it would have been great if I could have tagged along, but since I've isolated myself from them it becomes difficult to ask for favors(I probably should have asked anyways though). I suppose I am friendly with all of them, but of the group I am definitely the other. I made an effort to befriend them in the beginning, and they certainly made an effort to befriend me, but I just couldn't keep it up. It just isn't my personality to try and make friends with people, that something that happens very scarcely with me, and it takes a long period of time for it to develop. On top of that I seem to have become more introverted, where I was starting to enjoy socializing more, now I prefer to just be by myself most of the time. And I imagine possibly being exposed to HIV also also aided to this.

Oh well, I'll just have to make a greater effort to bring lunch with me. Sadly the truth of the matter is that if I didn't need anything from them, then I wouldn't be caring about this right now, but it is what it is.

Ear infections suck. If the pain is really really bad there's a chance a small bug got in your ear. However your pain doesn't sound super emergency bad like that. Regardless ear infections still really suck. I hope you get this problem cleared up Metroid.

Not only was I not able to fix my Melee and Brawl discs today, much to my dismay, I found out my n64 no longer is fully functional, and now I can't even play my Smash64 cartridge.

Sigh.

Well, I found out I have no plug in cord for my super nintendo or any kind of cord that can plug into it...

Why didn't they make systems have more universal cords back than? Last generation they made nicks and grooves to prevent cords from plugging into different machines, but you could at least break them off or something to fit it into the other machines

I'm afraid of driving...I got my L last year with 97%, and now it has been a year and 3 months. I got until April next year to get my N, yet I have a fear for driving ever since practicing a few months ago and just accidentally tapping a bumper with my car, costing me $1000.

I have a road test booked for August, and yet I'm just easing back to practicing again, with only 20 something days to practice. There is no openings for more road tests until September if I fail...

Any advice please?

Wish I could give advice, I have a fear of driving as well, and the awkwardness to make the task nigh impossible.

My router got fried thanks to a bolt of lightning. I'll have very limited internet access 'til AT LEAST Sunday. :c

I'm glad that's the only thing the lightning affected, though. One solid power outage to this place and it means I'm SOL when it comes to food.

That really sucks dude :/, I hate it when I lose my internet. Ik that feeling.

That's good that it didn't affect anything else though. I've never really had lightning take out my internet though, just from random things.

I feel frustrated and empty. I have so many expenses, a temporary job and I'm making so little progress in my life. Everything just sucks.
