I've talked a lot about my self-made Love type, but not enough for the region the Love type is discovered in or even the Pokemon found there.

Well, I based it upon Italy, and I've named it Purore. And here are the starters I made up.
Italy Starters.png

These are early designs so take these with a grain of salt.

Granine is based upon the Italian wolf, and grapes. Italy is known for its wide variety of grapes and the food and drinks using them...including wine. So eventually it evolves into a Grass/Poison-type crazy wine-thirsty party-loving wolf (and yes it evolves to stand on two legs because the bipedal starter criticism annoys me). I freaking love this idea and if these starters were real I'd pick Granine in a heartbeat.

Tadcoal is based on the Apennine yellow-bellied toad. The warts on its body are actually coal, and that's where they create their flame powers. It evolves to become a giant hulking coal-covered fellow that takes a pretty similar route as Swampert in terms of design (meaning yes it's a quadruped fire starter, if that's something you like). Its coal warts can not only be ignited to protect itself but also to cook food, both for itself and for its trainer. Oh yeah, it's Fire/Rock type when it evolves, if that matters.

Ecololake is a super cute lil feller I'm REALLY proud of, based on the Sardinian long-eared bat. Being blind, it relies on echolocation to sense the position of friends and foes. The Water/Flying type does make you pretty weak to electric types, yes, but fret not, for our cute little bat friend evolves to trade in its Flying type for Psychic - being able to evolve psionic abilities to assist itself in battle and hunting, while also creating bubbles it uses to see the future, similar to crystal balls used by fortune tellers. Thusly, they're commonly sought out by trainers who need some psychic guidance.

This follows the usual triangle of Cool/Cute/Funny starters. Granine is a cool wolf cub, Ecololake is an adorable little bat fren, and Tadcoal is a funny froggo. Also all of them evolve into Pokemon that humanity spend a large amount of time with for one reason or another. Tadcoal's evolution helps to cook human food like pizza, Ecololake's evolution work as fortune tellers and palm readers, and Granine's evolution...are just crazy fun to party with and humans love to hold house parties with their wolf friends. Just mind that they don't accidentally smash your windows.

Of these I've worked the most on the grass starter, but I'll get back to you on any further progress I make. I just wish I had better art skills - my art is terrible beyond belief - but eh, these at least get across my initial ideas.

Who would YOUR companion be?

Probably the bat

Bats are in my top 3 most wanted animals for a starter, along with elephants and snakes (without legs)

Really is a pity that they abandoned the whole Chinese zodiac thing before we could get a fire starter based on a snake

Unless the fact that male crocodiles are named 'bulls' really does mean something...

Just because they aren’t beholden to the zodiac doesn’t mean we still can’t get a snake!

A dolphin starter would be amazing

This is what happens when you read comics. Anything and everything can be done, undone and modified. It’s one of the reasons why I stopped reading them 17 years ago. I need stability and stakes.
only stability and stakes had comic wise is through Ultimate Marvel 2024

Rewatched Ant-man and The Wasp

I find it hard to have any strong feelings about this movie, it's not that bad, nothing super notable, even the action, which has a lot of fun size stuff, isn't as memorable as the first. The post-credits scenes are great and pretty eerie, but that is about it.

Shame about Quantumania

Here are some updated box office numbers if yall are interested

I know there are rumors say Disney is buying out theaters to snuff out Sonic 3's success, but I have a different hypothesis based on observations in my local area: Sonic 3 is suffering from similar marketing failures that Transformers One had. I say this because many of the parents I've told to were not aware Sonic 3 was out in theaters. My area is only a few miles from Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina and there is quite a number of theaters in the area. Does this make sense to you guys?

I was actually pondering on what Purore's pseudo-legendary could be.

My prevailing thought is a Love/Flying dual-type based on a swan. I know most pseudos have been dragon-types, but Metagross proves you can have a non-reptillan psuedo and pull it off really well. Plus swans are insanely mighty in real life and I think they'd fit the powerful pseudo-mold well, and would make for a great ace for Purore's champion. It'd also fit the Love type well as swans are known to be monogamous and stick with their partners for their entire lives.

....are children's superheroes actually secretly op.
Ladybug would absolutely crush Batman and you know it.

That said, I don't think any gimmick Mon can be as bad as Urshifu.

  • Legendary Mon that's pre-evo can evolve into two very strong types.
  • Signature move that always crits with 100% accuracy
  • STAB move so it does extra damage
  • Oh also it has an absurdly high attack stat so does even more damage than it says.
  • Goes through protect because he has an ability that just ignores it (basically zero counterplay)
  • Water variation is a guaranteed multihit that crits every single time cause Gamefreak thought it didn't do enough damage
  • Oh also it learns physical STAB priority moves
  • Top that off with whatever Gimmick of the Year Gamefreak's cooking up that it can use to make it even stronger
Terribly designed Pokemon

Yeah, might as well say Ladybug could crush Spiderman easily as well.
Where I'm concerned, Ladybug could crush ANYONE. That Lucky Charm power of hers allows her to create something that is helpful no matter what situation she's in. And also she can kill you with a yo-yo.

Then again I just worship her series in general so maybe I'm talking hot bias rn

Granine would probably end up as a super-divisive starter if it was real. As was shown by Meowscarada, it's divisive enough when a quadrupedal starter stands up on two legs. It's ANOTHER thing, though, when the furbait is also an alcoholic.

Plus its hidden ability would be insanely annoying in competitive. Sure, raising evasion is banned in most formats, but causing poison or confusion 50% of the time when it's hit by a contact move? Yikes...

That said I still absolutely love it cuz the idea is so funny to me. Plus we haven't had a grass-poison type in a while and it'd be fun to go back to that. (Plus the Love type replaces Poison on the Roselia line in this theoretical idea, so the only grass/poison types we'd have left in this game would be the Kanto mons and Amoonguss)

I think Ecololake would end up as the most popular line here cuz bats are popular animals and Water/Psychic is just a cool type combo. Something about it just feels like it would resonate well with the Pokemon playerbase.

So like uh

What's with all the "HOMELANDER VERSUS SPORTACUS/WORD GIRL" vids.

....are children's superheroes actually secretly op.
Yeah, that's the joke. Also that Word Girl referenced the Invincible comic many years before the show. So people memed it up with that.
Yeah, might as well say Ladybug could crush Spiderman easily as well.
Spider-Man's a freak who manages to beat people way above his punching class, like Juggernaut, or cleaning house on an X-Men or Avengers team. Sportacus though, he might give Clark some problems, let alone Peter.

If Samus Hunter is actually telling the truth about what they are teasing, Star Fox Adventures is an odd choice to bring back the series with.
Well, they tried releasing 64 like 7 times so might as well try something new. Should have been Assault but hey, that's me.
