I think you need to play more types of games
I do. I play beat em ups, hack and slashes, racing games, rhythm games. I really liked Powerwash Simulator and Cuphead. Turn based RPGs can be fun too, depending on the other aspects of the game.

I just think seeing one get that big spotlight would be refreshing considering all the sci fi shooters and fantasy lock and strafe combat open world exploration games we tend to see at the show.

I dunno, if someone can make a mascot platformer that's also an HD 4K dark fantasy/sci-fi cinematic experience they might have a chance.
The problem with the current games industry everybody.
Like... Pac-Man...
That one did look interesting. Though I don’t think we actually saw enough of it to say what kind of game it is.

I mean Mascot Platformers usually have their own events dedicated to them. It allows them to have the spotlight all to themselves (aka not have them compete with the big bad cinematic AAAs), and companies don't have to shell out money to Geoff. There's really no reason to have them at TGAs unless they're 100% confident they can out muscle CD Project Red's or Naughty Dog's GOTY attempts (and no company thinks they can do that aside from like Nintendo cause Mario is generational).

But I do remember there was a mascot platformer announcement at TGAs a while back.

It was Cranky in Tropical Freeze

I remember that Hubworld direct from a bit ago. Really fun. I don’t think there’s been another one since though.

Nintendo's showing for TGA was also... extremely paltry. I think they had one trailer for Echoes of Wisdom and maybe 1 more and that was it.

They GOTTA have one lined up soon since.... well Switch 2 got leaked so.....

Calling it a new Pac-Man game is a bit of a stretch.

I mean yeah it is but like.

That's not Pac-Man.

I mean it is but you know what I mean.

But it looks fun.

well a stretch is the wrong word but it's not what you think when it comes to Pac-Man
True it’s not PAC-Man but was advertised as a reimagining of PAC-Man.

Honestly will probably check it out as it has some potential.

I went in knowing that the Half-Like 3 leak was likely phony or wrong, but at the same time, I also really hoped that it'd turn out to be true after all.

I'm not especially surprised that it turned out to be false after several years of rumors and the most recent confirmation from the anniversary special that the original version of the project had long been scrapped for not living up to Valve's standards or innovating anything, but I'm still ultimately a bit disappointed that we still don't have any news on a follow-up or true conclusion to the series' story, or at least the tale of the struggle to defeat the Combine.

Finished the Tokyo DLC Level for Shadow Generations. It's certainly a cool level and it does get me more hyped for Sonic 3, but it feels a tad too short with a good chunk of the level also being straight cut scenes. $6 feels a tad steep for what it offers IMO, though I can appreciate the effort.

I think this year's Game Awards was just kinda meh. Like a 6/10. It had some really good reveals, but also some really bad ones. Also I'm getting ****ing tired of the gaming industry releasing trailers and then not showing gameplay footage. Because if you don't show gameplay, how tf are we gonna know your game is good off of the reveal trailer?

It also allows potential false marketing to happen, and I don't think most games want to be another The Day Before (2023).

Right so this is what I'm getting from the Game Awards talk:
  • Okami 3
And that's it
A sequel to Okami was a nice surprise as well as the new Onimusha game. However, I guess the wait for Pragmata continues on.

Will also add that it is great to see that a new Virtua Fighter entry is finally unveiled.

In addition, I'm feeling rather mixed about having Final Fantasy XVI's Clive Rosfeld as the latest DLC character for Tekken 8.

I just got hit with a major bombshell of the passage of time...

Next year, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic turns FIFTEEN.

MLP:FIM was hands down one of the most influential forms of media in my life and arguably one of the most influential cartoons of the 2010s, and even with that generation of MLP in the rear-views, its effects are still very much felt among Hasbro itself and the cartoon community.

Now if you excuse me, I need to call a nursing home. :250:

It’s hilarious seeing each new generation of gamers fall for Half-life 3 “leaks” and “rumors”

I wonder how much companies pay Geoff to have their media advertised like that.

Real question is why do Nintendo pay for ad spots every year and then not show anything at the show?
Nintendo always likes to control how an event is ran and how their products are shown. It’s why they left E3 and rarely show up to other events.

Turok getting a new game is pretty crazy ngl
that’s actually huge news. I loved Turok on N64

This last of us **** is a parody at this point
not at all. It made giga money and is one of Sony’s highest selling titles of all time.

Geez, it sounds like The Game Awards has become more of a joke. What the heck is wrong with that show?!
it’s always been a joke. The reveals truly the only reason why people watch it.

I’m guessing Nintendo is waiting until 2025 to get last minute holiday sales.

I wonder though… when in 2025? It has to be before April as stated previously.
Nintendo already stated the reveal will be before April 2025 and that the release is likely November 2025

In response to your reply to what I said, I did say it was more of a joke now, did I? That should imply that The Game Awards has gotten worse some.

I am not trying to be hard on you, by the way.

Umm.....is this better or worse than the Amazing Spider-Man 2 incarnation?

Other than that, my further thoughts on some of the Game Awards reveals:
  • It's great to not only see two of Capcom's games dormant franchises getting revitalised with Onimusha and Okami with the return of Hideki Kamiya producing the sequel (for Okami.)
  • It is also great to see the long awaited return of Virtua Fighter after their last entry since 2007 and Akira's new costume design looks awesome though. It will be very interesting to see what new information will be unveiled within future events.
  • I'm sort of having rather mixed feelings about Final Fantasy XVI's Clive Rosfield as the final DLC character for the first season pass for Tekken 8 as I would had preferred Final Fantasy VII's Tifa Lockheart as my choice.

I think the new VF and Clive in Tekken 8 was my favorite announcements.

New Sonic racing could be fun but I'd prefer a SEGA crossover rather than a "Sonic goes to multiverse" kind of game.

Yeah. I miss the all stars.

I wish the trailer they showed actually told us more about the game. With how barebones it was, I don’t know if I can get excited or not.
