Eh, some of the new games actually looked cool, and stuff like the Pac-Man game, Night Reign, the untitled game made by the SotC devs and Okami II were worthwhile trailers. Statler and Waldorf were also great, as was expected.

I missed the latter half of the show though, so from the sounds of things, I'm guessing I missed out on a lot of pointless crap and Geoff and whoever else is calling the shots at TGA not learning anything from last year despite still having enough sense of irony to crack a "Please Wrap it Up" joke. No Half-Life 3 is simultaneously surprising and not surprising at the same time somehow.

Hey, I saw positive talk about this year's TGA for once and it comes from someone who doesn't like the show

"Best show" doesn't mean a whole lot and there's still some of the stench over it and to be frank, you can't be self aware if you're gonna go back to the old stuff in the next one so that's gonna be extra scrutiny for next time, but for now at least. Yeah, solid show for once.

But seriously, this years game awards was bad, but it wasn't downright unwatchable like the past two years.

There was some fun surprises (for me at least), and yeah starting off with Witcher 4 is huge, even though that trailer took forever.

But then it fell into the same pitfall of the other years, and I mean the slew of ads, the same old AAA schlop (which tbf isn't the fault of TGAs itself, but more reflective on the industry), unfunny segments and skits, moments that have nothing to do with games, awkward moments that take far too long, and most importantly, not focusing on the actual GAME AWARDS.

But the high points were genuinelly hype this time so it did hold my attention for that. So well played Geoff. But I'm better off just watching the highlights the day after

Somewhere out there on this big blue marble
I mean, depending on who you ask, it's actually only the second game. :4pacman:
Idk, I got Okamiden as a present from my grandpa and was enamoured with it, I still remember minor **** like a sidequest where you help a cute little boar who wanted to see the human that saved it from a bear trap, that **** hits hard as that was one of the last times I saw my old man

I kept my promise this year and slept through the entire game awards. Not a hard promise to keep but you'd be surprised how many times I woke up in the middle of the night and then caught it in the middle out of sheer boredom.

Was there anything worthwhile announced at all?

Elden Ring DLC, Witcher, a new game by the Shadow of the Colossus' crew, I think a new Sonic racing game, a new Pac-Man game that looks like a sci-fi Metroidvania, and a new Okami game were all announced.

Also Statler and Waldorf were being Statler and Waldorf.

Calling it a new Pac-Man game is a bit of a stretch.

I mean yeah it is but like.

That's not Pac-Man.

I mean it is but you know what I mean.

But it looks fun.

well a stretch is the wrong word but it's not what you think when it comes to Pac-Man

I haven't played any of the Okami games yet, so I can't attest to Okamiden's quality. I was just rolling with the joke based on the game's more divided reception and possibility that this new game in the series is going to be considered the "true" sequel since Okamiden wasn't made by most of the original dev team.

With that said, I'm glad to hear the sequel means something significant to you. Don't let anyone else's opinions change that. Besides the fact that everyone's got different opinions, sometimes, there's more to video games than just their content on it's own. The memories you share of playing any with friends or loved ones are a perfect example of that.
