If Mario is supposed to be "easy to learn, hard to master" then why does my Mario suck so much?

I spend a few hours today grinding Mario on Elite Smash and man, I just don't know what to do with that character. He's got no range and usually needs a hard read to get a kill. But everyone says that your skill with Mario reflects your fundamentals...are my fundamentals just much worse then I thought?

It's even weirder that Squirtle feels just fine to play to me despite also having abysmal range. I just don't get why I can't get Mario to work.
It just means you're not good with Mario. Besides, Pit kinda takes the all roinder pick and play role now fbh.

Now, you can go easy mide and play Luigi and spam the zero to death.

I just had an online match with my cousin, one of his first matches on Ultimate as he got a switch a few days ago.

We haven't played smash together since he moved away which was before Ryu was released for smash 4.
Feels good.

Question for Final Fantasy 7 people

is Cloud unable to be the perfect soldier due to his emotions getting in the way or something close to that? Cause I know he's supposed to be an excellent soldier physically and skill wise...but something about his emotions get in the way

is there someone able to explain this better enough to have me understand?

If you play really far the game they'll literally tell you why. Unless you're playing the remake, I guess.

It’s a shame there won’t be any Pokémon stuff
Oh there definitely will be a PokePark at some point, bet they'll use it to promote local play and Pokemon GO, but for now it seems to be a lot of Miyamoto ****, I assume that's why Pikmin got a cameo. I say we'll get a whole expansion in 2023 or something like that.

Some Final Fantasies brings something new to the table:
FF1: The whole franchise
FF2: A battle system that was only used in the FF Legend series. And actual plots.
FF3: Summon Magic
FF4: The ATB system
FF5: Blue Magic, Superbosses

This is false information. Mario has multiple reliable KO options, including his aerials near the border of the stage, turn around up smash, and down smash as well. Not only that, but he's also got the quick enough speed to somewhat get around his poor range.

You should try watching Dark Wizzy, Prodigy, and Zenyou. They'll help with learning Mario.

X'D Yes I did, I just had some call and my mind didn't pay much attention, I just saw red in your avatar and I for some reason my mind immediately jumped to the conclusion you were NonSpecificGuy. Again, so sorry! Still, thank you again for explaining in your previous post!

Not a problem.

Tbh, that song was a bop tho. Nathan Sharp has a very distinct voice that I recognized the moment I heard it haha.

You can go all out with the spoilers since I'm not really big on playing FF games nor am planning to play one (unless Smash counts)

I'm playing neither version, just curious about Strife for some reason
Nah....let him figure it out
but...actually idk what original thing to say really, so...Pit is the most developed character in all of media /s

Because Cloud was never a First Class SOLDIER, he was just a regular grunt. He and Zack Fair, the actual First Class, were used as human experiments after Sephiroth destroyed Nibelheim, and the Mako Poisoning completely ruined Cloud. After they escaped and Zack sacrificed himself to save Cloud from Shinra Soldiers, he mentally got crushed and altered his own psyche to believe that he did everything Zack had done.

The reason he can't live up to his life title is because his life is literally a lie.

well **** that's actually unfortunate for him. Being so destroyed that he became a whole nother person out of guilt. And to think he was able to beat Sephiroth despite not being a real soldier to begin with...twice nonetheless...I can respect that. I assume Aerith likely knew a little bit about the situation before dying (unless the Remake changes that and makes Cloud an actual soldier then since there's supposed to be time travel involved or something)

Look up and study how others play him

I made that last post while I was tilted. After a shower and some reflection I realized I was just focusing too much on fishing for combos - i.e. not actually relying on my fundamentals. It's any easy trap to fall into when learning a new character.

After my second session my GSP with Mario shot up a ton. I just had to go back to focusing on playing around my opponent rather then trying to force my own aggressive play style onto them.

I'm used to playing heavies, who can easily dispatch opponents at kill percents with very soft reads in neutral. Mario pretty much has to rely on getting a read in advantage state to get a kill until higher percents, as his options are either to edge guard or throw out a smash attack (which is very risky outside of advantage). I'm not used to having that kind of patience when it comes to kills, so that was a bit of a learning curve to me.

I didn't mean to imply that he had the same kill power issues as, say, Pikachu.

I had a strange dream last night that me and this girl, who looked like an irl eceleb, were trying to find some place private together but my friends and her friends tried to stop us because they thought we didn't make a good couple.

That's a major part of the problem. You must learn patience.

Heavies not only KO very early, but a few also have super armor on their smash attacks. The heavies are outliers when it comes to KOing that you need to forget about when you're playing as Mario.

This guy right here is the oldest villager I have on any map. I have him trapped. Apparently at some point he was converted to a farmer villager but I believe he was a "testificate" at one point. Named him Bubba when the name tag first came out.

Doesn't really help that most of the super heavies in this game suck complete ass too, and encourage a playstyle of going in for kills and approaching since camping them out is optimal strategy for majority.

Dk, Ganon, and Incin are all bottom 5 characters because Ults engine severly ****s them over.
