PMEX Remix's newcomers fall under three categories:

1. Characters from 4 or Ultimate
2. Characters the official PM devs were going to make
3. Any custom Brawl fighters random modders have PM-ified and PMEX Remix's devs think is high-quality enough.

It's just a shame they didn't use one of the cool Fate designs, TBH.

Beyond every official game characters, they also plan to add characters from ALM's PMEX build, which I believe includes the following according to the Discord:

• Shadow Mario
• Dixie Kong
• Raichu
• Deoxys
• Federation Soldier
• Mia
• Hector
• Galacta Knight
• Saki Amamiya
• Barbara the Bat
• Sami
• Primid
• Bass
• Zack and Wiki
• Gray Fox
• Lara Croft
• Scorpion

When they'll get to all of these I have no clue.

Minecraft’s SM64 decomp injection mod would also let you create your own entire 3D Marios within Minecraft, too.

I imagine Mario Maker 3D allowing you to choose between graphical style and end level goals individually. Like. You could either have a linear level clear style level like 3D World or Galaxy, a sandbox level to collect a single star like 64 or Sunshine, or a “collect multiple collectibles to exit” style sandbox like Odyssey or Bowser’s Fury. Style of collectible, abilities, and mechanics would change with style like gravity and spherical platforms only being in Galaxy style, fludd only being in sunshine, or cappy only being in odyssey.

IDK if you'll like it as much as PM+ as it's definitely more aimed at being more casual with how wacky some of the custom characters are, but it's a good time and a fun alternative to Ultimate IMO, especially if Melee physics are more your speed.

It also atones for Ultimate's crimes by having Bandana Dee and Waluigi on the roster, so there's also that.

I just realized today that the Mario 64 decomp mod for Minecraft really is just...Kinda a way of giving people an easily accessible way to play custom 3D Mario levels.

Kinda surprised I haven't seen anyone do something like that yet.
