It's a funny game about a rat who shoots lightning from its face. They can do whatever they want, for whatever reason they want.
This reminds me of one of my favourite Smogon posts.

"My favorite thing is that this is a world of fire rats and space ducks yet somehow one on the most dangerous attackers period is literally just a bear. It doesn't have ice beams or eye lasers. It just ****ing mauls you with regular animal claws. This thing deals more damage than the deitys that control space and time, the avatar of death, the ruler of the underworld, and the entity that created the universe."

If I did my calcs right, this ****ing bear is tied with Conkeldurr for the strongest physical attack possible without Power Trick shenanigans

Pokemon is one of of those series where the fans take the lore waaaaaay more seriously then the creators ever intended for us to.

True but they can also go pretty in depth with lore. Like Alolan raticate existing because of invasive species like real world Hawaii.

Or how Looker showed up in ORAS, but it’s actually the looker from platinum. Which set up the looker of the mega timeline to then come in next game with Annabel from Emerald as they hunt down the Pokémon responsible for Platinum lookers memory loss.

Not everything is thought out precisely, but they do like to have fun lore pieces here and there.

I played the Kirby demo, there's dedicated taunt buttons and Kirby still goes against Nintendo tradition of having to wait for specific moves of Nintendo bosses. He also does a dab in the Kirby dance now. However, I will not be buying the game, the demo's fun and all but this is pretty ****ing gross of Nintendo

Good Morning My Gamers
SwSh are still overhated games whose only real faults are the Wild Area being incomplete and the villains being terribly written.
Yeah I have to disagree with you there chief

My main problem with the game is that it was just a straight line al the way through, there was nothing I felt like I was missing by not exploring

Anyway, I think it's a little silly that people think Scarlet/Violet must be using PL:A's gameplay exactly just because its open world and has seamless battls transitions.

PLA's gameplay is designed around two things - catching and exploring. That's why most of the bosses have you chuck balms at them - throwing pokeballs is the main gameplay mechanic. Pokemon battles exist but are almost always 1v1 or 1v2, combat gameplay exists mainly to serve those two main purposes. Even the pokedex quests are designed to encourage you to catch the same pokemon several times.

Scarlet/Violet looks like it'll have a bigger emphasis on combat again, with trainer battles being more common again and gyms most likely coming back. Combat will probably take emphasis over catching again, with more involved battle mechanics. I doubt pokemon will attack your trainer directly in the overworld or that you'll be able to just chuck pokeballs like in Legends. Tradtional games require you to battle and weaken a pokemon to catch them most of the time, so in that sense capture mechanics serve the turn-based combat gameplay.

Edit: My thoughts are a little sattered here but maybe it'll make sense if I say PL:A is a game all about throwing things, hence why it was advertised as an action RPG despite having turn-based combat. I don't ghink S/V will ve about throwing.

Tbh I do wish that throwing balls in the overworld stays in mainline gen entries cause holy **** it's so much faster

Yeah, I fully expect Gen 9 to return to its basics since it's a mainline gen entry.

PLA was a game definitely testing the waters for sure, but I can't imagine they'd import all its features into the next gen immediately.

Just make the combat faster like in PLA and I don't care what else you do with the games. I don't think I can go back and replay the older games because they're so slow compared to PLA

I ended up swapping Togekiss for Braviary. My Togekiss has served me well but when given the opportunity to use brand new Pokémon (or in this case brand new alternate forms for existing ones) I will probably use it

Also I might do Brilliant Diamond and Sword playthroughs after this. Not gonna be as constant as my PLA playthroughs, probably only gonna play bits of them before going to bed but I want to have my mons ready for Home transfer

Mildly off topic but I want to quell a misconception. People are wondering why some random Youngster has a Hisuian Zorurark, but that isn't a random NPC trainer in the background. It's the player character, and this is probably a PVP battle.

I think it's funny that the new main characters are so ****ing boring nobody notices that it's them.

I mean it's all but confirmed that battles are seamless once again. So I wouldn't be surprised if they sped it up like PLA did
Oh good, now I can have standards.

If they don't put Greninja in the game this time I will [MOD EDIT: REMOVED]

Speaking of hot lava

DAILY DEMON SHOWCASE

This showcase's demon is of the Lady race:

1646406129347.png

“I’m Lady Pele. You've never seen fire until you've seen me blow.”

Alignment: Light-Chaos

Origin: Hawaiian mythology. The goddess of volcanoes and the creator of the Hawaiian Islands. When traveling to Hawaii on a canoe, lighting her fires on different islands, her sister caught up to her, ultimately killing her in a fight. However, Pele’s spirit continues to live in the holy active volcano Kilauea, which she’s responsible for its lava flows. She’s usually depicted as a beautiful, strong, passionate, and capricious young woman.

Skills: Recarm, Heat Wave, Dekunda, Maragidyne

Next time, you will meet a demon of the Tyrant race.

Pele seems a bit too undignified to be a goddess but her energetic, flirty pose fits surprisingly well to her myths where she can be pretty… let’s say intense. She’s a fun figure and her smile, hairdo, and flowery clothes reflect this well. What’s also reflected well is how she can incinerate anyone who crosses her, as she’s literally an active volcano, in case her head and torso emitting fire wasn’t obvious enough. Unfortunately, she’s usually quite low leveled in most games but she’s almost always useful when you get her.

On a different note I tried the new Kirby demo and it was really good! It played and felt exactly like how I thought a Kirby game should. Kirby's new mouthful mode also feels more like an extension of Kirby's existing powers then a gimmick, which is a good thing imo. This game is just the shake up I think the franchise needed.

I also love the game's visuals. The art direction is really strong and while Kirby games pretty much always look good, this one really exceeds my expectations.

My only nitpick so far is that Kirby's jump animation is a little stiff and awkward. Maybe if he did a little flip or something during it it'd look more animated.

Definitely looking forward to the full release later this month.

I finished the Forgotten Land demo. Nice game. Like that the stages are linear and goal based like 3D World, though I question why it’s even 3D to begin with honestly, it doesn’t do much.

Meanwhile last night I JUST beat the Sword and Shield post game LOL

Though I plans to start the DLC Expansion packs soon as well, and complete the Pokédex maybe. Get a shiny or two, and get some Gigantamax mons I want.
