Kind of coming into the middle of this, but it's pretty clear things need to be taken down a notch.
To be fair, Shield Hero isn't an original, but yeah it's not as good as light novel. I won't ever not recommend the anime, but the pacing and changes they made to some key scenes make me tear my hair out. Hopefully the next season will be better after it was delayed to Spring. I really want to see how they plan on handling Kizuna and greater focus on the series lore. Anyway that's about as far as I'll wear my nerd glasses tonight. lol

I feel like when an anime sexualizes high school students, it's usually a shonen and appealing to teenagers.

I think a reason why that is is due to the fact that high school is glorified in Japan. That's because Japan's work culture is absolutely insane. People are expected to work way over the typical 8 hour shift and it's even common for workers to fall asleep on the job. The typical shift is 10+ hours, which has caused problems in Japan, notably the fact that they are experiencing a decrease in birth rates because people literally have no time to date and hang out.

No, no, I get that, I know American shows skirt around sexualizing teenagers by casting adults that can possibly pass off as High Schoolers under the right makeup (or in the case of Grease, just straight up adults who like 2x the age of a teen), it's just Japanese media is far more prevelant.
I'm not an expert on the subject but there's also the fact that Japanese media for kids usually can get away with far more mature stuff compared to the US, like a lot of shounen anime.

Maya Rudolph is goated, but she should voice Pauline imo. I was thinking David Cross for Wario and Will Arnett for Waluigi. For Daisy I feel Mindy Kaling could do a great job. Nick Kroll Bowser Jr could work, Lindsay Lohan Dixie Kong maybe and Funky Kong should obviously be portrayed by Andy Samberg.
I saw a suggestion for Josh Gad Diddy Kong. Personally I could see Billy Eichner pulling it off.

If I didn't know any better, I'd thought the game wasn't ready for showing and they just announced a release date to divert people's attention away from then-current controversies.
Apparently, that's not the case, but all these delays makes me wonder if they even did anything with the game yet.
