TBH when you've been a lifelong Sonic fan like me, you get used to the shenanigans.
Give it another 5 more years, Unleashed will go back to "actually, it's bad" and some new game will become the franchise's "savior".
'Tiss the ebb and flow of things.
BTW Forces ain't bad. Well, not bad as in a "bad broken game" bad. Maybe a little boring.
It's just painfully mediocre, and Sonic fans were on a high from Mania at the time. It's another unfortunate case of a game probably being rushed and would've benefited from another year in the oven: It has beautifully ambitious concepts and fantastic ideas that unfortunately fall flat due to, IMO, being rushed.
For what it's worth, SNT and Peter Knetter liked it.
We'll see if Sonic 2022's delays and a finalized engine to work with help them right the ship.
If not, fangames and Generations mods forever it is, lol.

SA1 is a close second. Actually prefer it to 2.
I also adore the Riders series.
I also love Sonic R and Chronicles because my taste is highly questionable.
I thought I wouldn't find someone who liked Sonic R like I do! Chronicles was not bad, too.

My Sonic hot take is I don’t mind that the Wisps stuck around.
I don’t entirely understand it, but I like the little guys. I certainly don’t know why Sonic fans seem to despise them so much.

At the cost if sounding basic here, my favorite Sonic game is Mania.
But 3&K comes very close.
Actually, while I played a majority if mainline Sonic, actually beating them is a different story. I onky beat 2 3D Sonic games, being Adventure 2 and Forces, nit Colors

They gender swapped a Lot of Hanna Barbera characters for this show.
I get why it was done, those old shows didn't have many female characters, doesn't mean it isn't weird lol
