I have a soft spot for blue shinies..... because blue's my favorite color. <3

Plus, come on. Gardevoir is so pretty.

Heh, I have a Shiny Ralts in my Pearl =3. I'm gunna make it a Gallade, though.

I'm currently soft resetting Leaf Green for a shiny Mewtwo, seen here=

The problem is, I've spent at least 12 hours soft resetting (achieved by watching TV whilst soft resetting, not sat down glaring at the screen, and in a period of a few weeks), and I haven't seen one. I'm not gonna leave Cerulean Cave with a normal Mewtwo, to get ambushed by a random shiny Caterpie when I leave.
I know shinies aren't any better than regular Pokemon, but a shiny Mewtwo on Pearl would be slick.

I'd try to get one via trade, but I want a legit one, and knowing the rarity of them I'd probably end up with a hacked one, which I don't want.

After looking at Giratina-O in its shiny form on Serebii, I'm seriously considering restarting my game as many times as I need to in order to get it (10,000 times even if I must). Because it just looks that awesome to me.

Also, my Diamond seriously depresses me. Day in and day out, I go to the Pokemon Mansion to see what Pokemon he has in there for me to catch that day, and every day I am disappointed when I come to see the lack of the name Eeevee within his stupid little conversation bubble.

Since the day that I got my national dex almost a year ago, I have not once had Eevees as a swarm in the Mansion. And it's the one Pokemon I would spend my entire day attempting to chain (despite my consistent failure at chaining) in order to get it.

Can't you just save in front of him and then reset if its not Eevee, or is it set for each day?

I tried that PRNG thing to get a shiny whatever egg, and I didn't do it right, because I didn't get the shiny Marill I wanted. Oh well. I wonder what I did wrong...probably messed up my counting when I was tapping the Happiness Checker.

And I have a shiny Eevee I think but it's pretty suspicious since it was caught in a Master Ball. Other then that it's legit though. Its really silver.

I don't think it works with the other swarm though. I tried it and it didn't, and I know that the other swarm kicks in as soon as the day starts anyway, so...yeah. No one try that one.

EDIT: I just got Porygons for the first time ever as well...Eevees may have to wait until tomorrow, because Porygon is my second favorite. o_o

Nothing beats Black Charizard. You'd have thought that it would have been that weird pathetic pale color that Shiny Charmander and Charmeleon were, but HECK NO! IT'S A FRIGGING PIMP BLACK CHARIZARD! NEGROZARD FOR THE WIN! I imported the Shiny from my friend's Leaf Green. I made it worth his while with my Shiny Dialga for his Pearl Version. Still not sure how I got both of those on my first trys.

I'm not trying to be racist (I'm of mixed Black and White decent myself). But come on. Black Charizard is awesome.

I remembered my other two Shinys. I caught a Dusclops, trying to explore for the Team Magma and Aqua Members to pick on, and I evolved it into a fully Shiny Dusknoir. So awesome. And I also looked for a Ralts, and was surprised when it was Shiny. It is now an amazingly Beautiful Shiny Gardevoir, who mothered an eventual Gallade, who unfortunately did not inherrit his mother's Shininess. I blame the dad (a Lucario). But the 3 of them are still very happy together.

Today, I was EV training my Giratina in Diamond(trying out some of the movesets I posted in the Strategy Dex) and chaining at the same time. I got to 29! Unfortunately, the direction pad went unresponsive when I clicked it in the directions I wanted to move to quickly and I walked into a patch containing a different pokemon.>_<
I bet I could've made it to at least 50....

Hi, Im new to this thread but I've been shiny hunting for a while.

I've got a ton of shinies through wifi trades and Im pretty sure most of them are hacked

But on my own I've gotten these guys through chaining, SRing, or random encounter:

Tentacruel, Spinda (lost in a bad egg accident somehow), Aerodactyl, Sceptile (my best), Crobat, Charizard, Articuno, Venusaur, Blaziken, Sealeo, Blastoise, Groudon, Tyranitar (chain of 12), Pichu (chain of 1), Beldum (chain of ?? traded), Meowth (chain of 6)

in that order

Currently going for Zard number 2 and then Mewtwo

-Budew

I'm chaining to find them, but also, have you guys heard of the Masuda Method?

Supposedly, if the parents of an egg are of two different nationalities (id est, an American Garchomp and a Japanese Ditto), then the shiny chances increase 4X, therefore, the normally 1/8192 is reduced to 1/2048!! It's still not perfect, but hey, that's still a pretty awesome increase.

Now, if anyone has a Japanese Ditto, I'll definetly be interested!! ^__^ Contact me if you do and are willing to trade.

BTW, DItto's of different nationalities don't spread natures with everstones...

Only shiny that I've ever had is a shiny Groudon in my Ruby version. I wasn't even shiny hunting. I kept turning my game off and on about 10 times because I couldn't catch it (I had a low amount of ultra balls). I fought Groudon for about the 10th time and there he was! A shiny Groudon! I used my master ball right away! lol

Still have it to this day at level 83. My prized possession.

I just caught a shiny Lv. 19 Magikarp in Diamond about 7 hours ago, and I wasn't even trying. Basically, I was training my pokemon to defeat Crasher Wake. (all my pokemon I currently own is level 21 or higher, so it's a nice feat to accomplish knowing that I didn't use a single rare candy and only used the breeding center once, but that's not the point) Anyways, I thought that fishing near the ocean can get some Remoraid to defeat after all the Wingulls and Shelloses, and the first pokemon that I get after I healed up in the hotel place beforehand? It was a shiny magickarp, which I almost ran away from. once I notic that it was Shiny, I automatically used a quick I had in store and caught it. Now, She's a Lv. 23 Gyarados and looking quite fine.

Yesterday I was trying to chain with a level 40 something Sceptile at the front of my party (which I received from a trade), and it was holding a Miracle Seed. I had chained around 11 Corsola, and I had a max repel equipped. I went to walk onto another shaking patch and before I got there a Gatrodon appears on a patch of grass that didn't move. I faint it, and get a nice boosted 1900+ experience XD.
I then decide to start walking 50 steps to recharge the radar, and after a few steps a wild Corsola appears, which I faint, then continue to walk around, and another Pokemon appears. This time I check my bag, and repel is in use, so I swap to my Infernape (which reached level 100 a few days ago ) and walk around, and nothing appears until repel wears off.

Is this caused by the fact it was traded, or the item it was holding, or a mix of both?

In the end I only managed to chain 18 with my Infernape lol.

Where the enemies you were chaining a higher level than your sceptile, because repels don't work with enemies of a higher level

Yeah, if it stopped messing up with the level 100 Infernape, it was the levels of the Pokemon, most likely.

I think I remember knowing that it didn't repel high level Pokemon, but I just completely forgot about it.

Same here. I've played on every generation, at least far enough to beat the story (often much further), and have never even seen a shiny (other than the Garados in G/S).

Don't worry, that's not the worst fate.

I actually ran INTO a Shiny....it was Shiny Geodude. It SelfDestructed before I could catch it.

Better to have love than lost than not to love at all doesn't really work for Platinum >_>

I caught a shiny golbat in sapphire, a shiny exeggcute in FR, and a shiny spinda in emerald.

The only one i went shiny hunting for was spinda, i got golbat in victory road like 2 tiles away from the exit and i caught the exeggcute in the safari zone

After 3-4 weeks of getting my Gold Magikarp (then a 23-24 LVL Red Gyarados), I go into that cave the digger/ruin maniac dug in Pokemon Diamond. I don't remember if it was just to raise the levels of some other pokemon or to try to find both kinds of Hippopotases, but I found another shiny, this time a Golden Geodude. I caught him quickly with a Dusk Ball and now I have a small dilemma: Should I keep the Golden Geodude in order to still look cool somewhat and get the moves earlier or should I evolve it to the less cooler looking rustic Graveler for more strength? Keep in mind that I already had my original Geodude evolve already.

I caught a shiny Gastly on Leafgreen in the same EXACT spot you find the ghost of the mother Marowak (Spooky, huh? 0.0)

(I still have this same shiny Gastly now as a level 100 Gengar on Pearl. It is one of my favorites, other than my 4 Roserades and my Crobat and Drapion. Yes, I happen to like Poison.)

well i once was using my sapphire game and hunting for rayquaza (sky pillar) when on the 3rd-5th floor (sorry i caught it years ago) i encountered a shiny sableye. http://www.pokemondb.co.uk/images/sprites/diamond-pearl/shiny/sableye.png it was gold and my friends told me to catch it not to beat it up because those were really rare and i said alright. so i took out one of my master balls(i had a gameshark that gave me like 100 of those) and i caught it. i was happy when i couldnt find anymore because i had a rare one. i also found a shiny carvana but since it was the first time i saw it and i didnt know what the color was supposed to be i just beat it (i cried afterwards) it was epic fail.

right now i am looking for a shiny latias and a shiny pikachu to add to my collection but i dont know where to find it.

I once saw a shiny when I was a kid in Silver. I thought the Gbc had messed up or something so I reset the game. It was a Flaafy or something I think. I can't really remember the name.

Also, when making the perfect salamence through breeding, I got a shiny one with the perfect egg moves, etc. I was sooo happy. XD

No, see, there's a trick to it. Like in Red/Blue/Yellow you can actually get shinies; in order to activate them you teach Mewtwo Strength and push the truck out of the way by the S.S. Anne to get Mew. Once you get Mew through that method shinies will be activated!
