Does that not attenuate the suspense? A multi-character trailer might be reasonable enough, but showing most of the characters is not. Take Ridley for instance, would you not rather an epic trailer dedicated solely to him (in regards to newcomers), or would you rather see a collage trailer with cameos from every character on the roster? We have never gotten a trailer that reveals all characters, I assume the same applies to Smash 4.
Oh, i still want everyone to have their own trailer, but something like what we got last year- Villager's followed immediately by Mega Man's.

So my friend thinks I am crazy, delusional about the chances Ridley has for being playable. Even after all of the evidence that I showed him, I also told him that 'I am not 100% sure and if he is disconfirmed the most that I will be is sad and slightly upset'

That is certainly nothing revolutionary; take pride in the notion that you are more intelligent than he is as you can discern the difference between an ambiguous allusion and a deconfirmation.

Considering that quite of few of the known veterans have been hidden unlockables in past games, and that Sakurai is adamant on keeping surprises hidden until he wants them revealed, I think it's quite possible that the entire roster will be shown before launch, but there will still be characters that need to be unlocked.

We've said multiple times that before the game even officially comes out hackers will get a hold of early copies and spoil everything online, so Sakurai might as well show off all there is himself before they do.

George Lucas and Frank Miller were good creators once upon a time too. It's a little unfair to declare anything and everything Sakamoto has worked on and approved as garbage now because of one bad game.
This, unless you're willing to consider Super Metroid, Zero Mission, and anything else the guy has been involved with as utter failures.

If Ridley is payable, what do you think the way he would have to be unlocked? I think it should be something like beat Classic Mode with Samus and Zero Suit Samus.
Payable? What would we pay Ridley for? Would he even accept our currency as some kind of bribe?

.. Couldn't resist. To answer your question though, pretty much what you suggested, aside from maybe completing one of the event matches (like you did to get Ganondorf in Melee) with Samus/ZSS to unlock him.

There probably will be, though it's possible there aren't. With Marth, Lucario, Rosalina, Luigi, Toon Link, and the like all thrown out pre-release like this, it's hard to say what's going on exactly.
If that's the case I'm gonna miss the days of unlocking characters even more. I mean why do that when you can just make them DLC.

Me and my friend plan to get it (3DS version) a couple days early from a ma and pa shop so i will be spoiling everything on here.

So, I keep mentioning Goyagma and Vorash as bosses for Pyrosphere. Notice the Final Destination version doesn't have lava, but it still has the Ridley holes. The lava clearly contributes to some kind of hazard.

I don't get why people keep saying that- the Gerudo Valley FD stage doesn't look a thing like the original. Pyrosphere could easily be different visually as well.

I'm becoming more and more convinced by the day that Ridley is playable and will most likely be revealed at E3.

It's going to be amazing. Only a week to go!

I think Marth and Lucario will be starters this time, and Luigi's obviousness with the whole Year of Luigi thing was probably the reason behind his early reveal (though I could see Luigi being a starter too). Rosalina seems to be a likely starter as well. Toon Link though still seems like an unlikely starter character, especially with this screenshot suggesting that the whole Alfonzo thing occurs when you unlock Toon Link.

Either way, assuming all the revealed characters except for a couple are starters, the amount of revealed characters is still looking to be inline with the prior series' starter-to-unlockable ratio with Smash 4's likely 47-55 characters, so it could be that a bunch of veteran characters are getting their starter/unlockbable status switched up, while a greater ratio of the newcomers are unlockables (which would explain why so few of the newcomers have been revealed thus far, compared to the ratio of them Brawl revealed pre-release).

It is different visually. But it's not just visual. Gerudo Valley removed the collapsing bridge, Twinrova and their effects, etc which removes any and all hazards and converts it's shape to be more Final D like. Pyrosphere

Is already almost in the right format. If the lava was just a visual, it would still be around.

The difference is that normal Pyrosphere is already Final Destination-esch just with floating platforms (basically a Metroid styled Battlefield). While it makes sense for FD versions of stages like Gerudo Valley or the Mario Galaxy stage to look completely different, it is rather odd that Pyrosphere, besides the removal of platforms, had seemingly insignificant background elements like the lava flow removed or the tubes below the stage having a different design between versions.

In other words, there is literally no reason to change what's already on Pyrosphere beyond the platform removal, unless of course those elements have a hidden purpose.

The Final Destination version of Gerudo Valley still has the waterfall and the fortress in the background of the stage. It removed anything that was a hazard or did not make the stage a flat, floating platform. Considering how Gerudo Valley appears to be a grounded stage, there was a lot that needed to be changed. The transition from the normal verision to the Final Destination version for the Pyrosphere is much easier, as the stage is already a large floating platform with only a couple of other floating platforms. Those other platforms are removed, and curiously, so is the lava fall in the background.

I didn't know it was possible to pay characters that could appear in the game, are you saying we have to bribe Ridley and Sakurai to make him playable in the game?
The important question is, how would we do that? Does the Wii U's disk slot secretly function as a money slot that sends our money directly to Nintendo and Sakurai, or better yet, to characters in the game which we have inserted into the console?
Can you tell us more of your amazing secrets? :troll:

I know I'm not funny or clever, I just couldn't resist capitalizing on your typo <3

Please don't hate me.

Hey I just tough of it but I think that people like me who won't be THAT disappointed to not see him playable but think that it would be great; well, it just confirms that E3 will be an "interesting experience".

Because for people like me here's how I would react:

If he's playable: great I can't wait for this game
Then, proceed to go on smashboard and if it hasn't crashed, enjoy all the ridley supporter being abnormally mean to the haters which would responds in despair "I admit I was wrong". Not going to deny here: I would express my joy too. Win-win situation.

If he's hazard: Oh that's a bummer but I'll still enjoy the game
Then, go on smashboard (but this time, more chance to crash) and enjoy the madness on the ridley thread with 5000 viewers (I would do a post as sympathy but the thread would be flooded anyway so it has to wait for some weeks lol). Will enjoy seeing the haters being SEVERELY mean to the supporter (mods, I would suggest to pay more attention because I think it would generate some infraction and I'm serious). Win-loose situation (It would be memorable but still no ridley...)

Just think about it in both cases, I would have fun (also yes the madness that it would cause if hazard would be so big that it would be laughable).

I will love E3.

I agree with this sentiment. I am in the same exact situation. Obviously I prefer scenario one so I am not exiled.

If Ridley is confirmed playable there will still be people finding it outrageous he is in. Dunno why, Ridley haters I guess.

I didn't care before, and I suppose I could learn not to care again, but I'm pretty convinced that he's in, so if he isn't playable, what will hurt the most will be... Being wrong... And having to fight a Bowser sized stage boss Ridley...

I agree with you guys. I really like Ridley but he's not my favourite Metroidcharacter. I'll still enjoy the game if he gets disconfirmed but it would be a real ****move from Sakurai; playing with the fans like that and I'll deff. lose respect. Not because Ridley gets disconfirmed, but because he could've avoided the situation easily. Mainly because I, for example, got obsessed with this Ridleything AFTER the direct. If it turns out into false hope than.... smh lmao

The best thing about his reveal won't be that he's playable, but the reaction videos of both supporters and detractors
Btw, I'll make a "Detractors reacts to Ridley" thread once he's revealed(can't be 'Toobigot", because, mods)

Even though I don't believe Ridley will be playable, I wouldn't care if I was wrong about that. I understand it suck to be wrong, but if you like Smash Bros. so much, wouldn't you at least put a little bit of trust on Sakurai's decision? I would at least give Ridley a chance first before I had any strong opinions about his addition.

It happens to often that people jump on the hate bandwagons and try to crucify something without experiencing it first. Sadly that's what will probably happen with Ridley if he is playable.

I think we'll see every veteran that will appear in the game at E3, along some (but not all) newcomers as well, but not everyone shown before release will be starter.

On another note: GAH WHY IS E3 TAKING SO LONG!?

I really don't think we'll get more than like. One newcomer and one veteran, or two newcomers. Though I've been wrong before.

I can safely say there will be more then one newcomer at E3. We got three last year, so at the very least I expect the same number this time around given how much more hype Nintendo has built up for Smash in of itself.

Here's hoping one of those newcomers is Ridley.

I'm guessing we'll get some new franchise representation, Mewtwo, and Ridley as a finisher.

Also, we'll get a ton of veteran reveals.

As for anything else, I haven't a clue. But my above hypothesis is my most cynical, boring theorem.

I could see two new comers and a veteran. Just like this.

I'm guessing there's going to be a big reveal on newcomers at E3. The roster is DOMINATED by veterans right now. I can't see any veterans being mentioned at E3, especially since they NEED this game to do well to boost sales of both consoles (moreso the Wii U though). I'd be very surprised if there weren't at LEAST a few newcomers mentioned.

Captain Falcon, Wario, Mewtwo
Ridley, Shulk,....Pa *hup*...PaUHRK...oh god, ju..just gimmie a minute *URP* I'm gonna throw...

To be honest, I can't see Ness, Jigglypuff, or Captain Falcon coming to E3. They are secret characters and should remain secret until Release date. Then again, Sakurai leaked Ness back in Brawl.... (And no, Luigi was only revealed, a secret character, because of Year of Luigi)

What about Toon Link? Was he revealed because of the Year of Toon Link? Captain Falcon and Ness were starters in Melee, so it is not as though we have definitive precedent to indicate that they are going to return as unlockable characters (albeit they probably will). The only true secret character is Ridley.

That's a good point, but Captain Falcon got very nerfed in Brawl and I thought showing him at e3 with some good changes would generate lots of hype
