Well, for one, there are multiple player 3 spots, it looks like. There's no hand cursor on the P1 token. Marth is shown on what appears to be the Player 2 screen when the P1 cursor is over him. Marth isn't in one of the pictures despite the P1 cursor being over him both times.

How's that?
1.) The general consensus is that the other character is a CPU and the '3' is simply the CPU level.
2.) I theorized, I think on another topic, that the hand/cursor might disappear when you pick up your token, and reappear when you set it down/select a character.
2a.) Someone also suggested that it's possible that the screen could've been controlled via 3DS, but while definitely something to consider, seems far fetched for just a demo.
3.) In one of the pictures, Marth has the P1 token on it and seems to be in the P1 character slot.
3a.) In the other picture, Marth has a P1 token on it and is clearly in the P1 character slot.

I'd say the reason why all the slots seem to have '3' on them is, again, the aforementioned CPU level.

At this point, it's anyone's guess. I just don't find the arguments against it to be entirely convincing. Having said that, it's still for the best for everyone to keep their salt grains handy.

Like I said though, doesn't the Wii U have a touch-screen pad thing? Couldn't that have just been used? That doesn't seem particularly far-fetched to me.

WE GET IT, YOU DON'T LIKE FUSION, DON'T NEED TO MAKE A BIG DEAL ON IT, GEEZ.

Seriously man, it's okay to have a different opinion than that of the majority of people, but Christ. Do you really have to be such a snark to someone who's giving legitimate points on why they think a game you consider bad to be not that bad?
Fusion was my first Metroid game ever, so I had no issues with linearity. On the contrary, I actually got lost one more than a few occasions, for even the most complex mazes have one going from Point A to Point B in the end. I enjoyed the storyline, and Adam was only there to give exposition on what the hell was going on.

When I finally got Super Metroid, while I liked the exploration aspect, the physics and weapon equipping system were clunky, and thus I was less than thrilled with it.

Zero Mission is probably then my favorite of the 2D Metroids, combining Super Metroid's sequence-breaking with Fusion's physics and just enough hand-holding to get newcomers to the game a general idea of where to go.

Why would a menu in a game on the Wii U, a console with a touch screen controller, connect to a 3DS, just to use a touch screen?

Super Metroid and Fusion are two very different games. It's best to judge each on their own merits, rather than directly comparing them. That said, I do prefer Fusion.

I think Super Metroid's control scheme goes well with it. (Fusion being tighter goes better with the faster pace.) Give it another try, I certainly think it's an easy contender for best game of all time.

As a controller option. Let's not forget that the 3DS version is going to be the first version a lot of people are going to try, and it's not as though Nintendo handhelds haven't been used as controllers before for their console big brothers. Really, it's genius. Why buy Wii Remotes for your friends when you can just use the 3DS's that they're likely to already have?

Like I said though, doesn't the Wii U have a touch-screen pad thing? Couldn't that have just been used? That doesn't seem particularly far-fetched to me.
This, as well, is certainly something to consider. However, considering again that it's a demo unit, I doubt they're using the actual tablet touchscreen thing. It's probably way cheaper and simpler to ship the demo units with Wiimotes instead.

Everything just suddenly got crazy as soon as that leak went live. Im jumping between three topics just to keep up. :urg:

At least if this is real it means Ridley. :D

Guys I think I just figured something out in Ridley's favor. Here's my copy-paste from the rumor thread.

ANTHONY has 7 letters and takes up significantly more space than RIDLEY in that text format. If you look at the character box thing, I believe there is too much space after the Y for the whole word to be ANTHONY. ANTHONY takes up about as much space as VILLAGER so there would be little space at the end. However, RIDLEY takes up about as much space as SAMUS, and that would leave the appropriate amount of space left.

If this leak keeps getting more real, I think we need to change the thread's title again.

When I tried finding size comparisons of Pikachu and Samus, I found really weird porn.

So I had to cobble together some sizes based on Miiverse posts. This isn't 100% accurate as a result, so apologies.

I want to believe...
Don't forget this pic.
So, as I get back from the new X-men movie, while my upstairs room is like 100 degrees, I come and find a 'leak' that has The Dream "confirmed."

If this leak is real.... Holy mother of God, I could finally have a Smasher that replaces Bowser as my main!

Of course, it's probably fake, but only time will tell.

Edit: I also counted, and there appear to be 36 slots, possibly 39 as none of the Mario characters are visible... which is exactly how many characters Brawl had...which is the ideal number Sakurai stated...

THE HYPE IS REAL

I wouldn't really count on those pictures, to be honest.

What kind of angles are these? If you want to show the internet about the roster we'll be getting ahead of time, why wouldn't you take a picture of the whole thing like a normal human being?

Plus there is this pic...

Why are Mega Man and Little Mac suddenly available? How come Ridley (?) became unlocked? Plus, you can notice the pixels of the damn hud. What kind of utterly sophisticated camera is this?

In short, don't get too hopeful. It may be uplifting to see that Metroid symbol, but it's likely a fake.

Yeah yeah, I get it, "OH MAN, THAT SCHALTERNATE GUY JUST HAD TO COME HERE AN CURB STOMP OUR DREAMS, MAN, WHAT A ********!"

Because perhaps the shooter only had his camera on his phone...

or perhaps Nintendo is the one who leaked this!

Or maybe it is fake...

But, The Dream.

It's been explained that there are two builds.

A tournament build and a demo build.

What's keeping me from calling it fake is the fact that these pictures are being taken down across the web.

It's easier to just kinda point you in the direction of the E3 2014 Rumor/Leak Discussion Thread. All of that stuff is discussed and explained away. 'cept the camera angles.. but hey, weirder stuff's come out of less legitimate leaks.

I agree, this whole thing looks rather suspicious, and there isn't anything about it that makes it seem genuine other than a decent format and nice roster size. What could really help prove its legitimacy is if they happened to reveal an unannounced newcomer with some never-before-seen artwork for them. Such a pity that they clearly are physically incapable of moving slightly to the left to prove themselves to be real or fake.

The funny thing is that we have even less evidence and more fishiness regarding the Sal Romano leak, but people still accept that as legitimate. If it had as much time to stew, people would be in the same spot.

Well, at least the Sal leak was correct about several characters, one of which was a very bold guess. This is something anyone could have put together, really. There is nothing really substantial to this leak that indicates that it's not just a decent looking fake.

For the record, I don't believe either the Gematsu leak or this one.

A thing I noticed is that the "Y challenger"(read, Ridley) is kind of bluish from the one clip of image you can see. Blue Ridley? A shadowy purple? Or maybe not Ridley!?

But nah, I fail to see how it could be anyone but Ridley if this leak turns out to be legit. What could Anthony do, unauthorized Bowser to death?

Yeah, but anyone could've put together what Sal Romano's leaker put together, and with considerably less effort.

If this is a fake, as people have said, it's a REALLY good fake.

It's been explained that there are two builds.

A tournament build and a demo build.
Still, you can clearly see that the third image was just an image that has been slanted and given some cool filters, since you can literally see the pixels of the hud. What kind of super advance camera is that?

But then the question rises: if this is indeed a premade image, what about the other ones? Where did the original picture came from? It's clear it couldn't have been taken from another "leaked" image, since those two are, to my knowledge, the only other images regarding the roster there are. Therefore, they've all been made by one person, using one image he/she made, slanted it several times and added a cool filter to pass them off as "leaks".

Either way, I think I derailed a little bit, so here's to hope that Ridley still has a chance in this...

Because perhaps the shooter only had his camera on his phone...
Then I ask two questions:
  1. Why are the images so zoomed in?
  2. What kind of cellphone camera takes picture so hi-res, you can see every pixel within the HUD of an HD game, on a luminescent screen?

Oh, I see. Yes, it would be significantly easier to type up a list of character names than it would be to make an entire fake character selection screen. But at the same time, there are people who are willing to put effort into such things. There was that fake Chrom leak awhile back that gave everyone a scare. Compared to making something like that, making a fake roster out of some basic shapes and pre-made character artwork is significantly easier.
