I have doubts easy character body shaping helped get those characters in. Ivysaur walks on all fours, and R.O.B. doesn't have any legs at all.

Nope. I believe that as well. I mean, Ridley is arguably the most original character left, and one of like... maybe 4 Nintendo "All-Stars" left that could add anything in terms of gameplay (sorry Toad fans, but Toad doesn't cut it).

Unless Ridley is worse than Brawl Ganondorf.

I really don't think Sakurai knows what kind of ****storm he is causing on the Western side of things. I think he knows that the the fanbase knows he is teasing a stage hazard version of Ridley, but I don't think he knows its causing ****storm because I don't think he is aware of how popularly requested Ridley is outside Japan.

The reason we are having a ****storm is because he says one thing and we go ape****. It's "Until now" all over again.

It's one of those instances where we'll wait and see. Some people flipped their lid when they here Sakurai reference Ridley when he was likely talking about the stage. But this is the internet where we think Krystal is confirmed, Ness is gone, and there is now ROB will be in as he's an enemy. Though, I'm sure I'm just repeating stuff everyone else has said.

Is it worth noting that Sakurai himself didn't mention Ridley, but rather whoever is in charge of the English site. I doubt Sakurai would let that kind of thing slide without his knowledge, but still.

Not the first hole shown ( not the one Ridley made ) thats without a doubt declaration as a matter of fact on the Ridley boss fight on other m i saw a burn mark that looks like the first hole revealed

He still lacks a major appearance yes, but he's at least still popular. And even Japanese fans have demand for him.

Plus, even after the Rare buyout, he has still arranged to be playable 3 times. One in a Mario game though, and as a racer in DK Barrel Blast. But also as a unlockable multiplayer character in King of Swing.

His most respectful appearance is still as the major villain in DK Jungle Climber, for DS. Retro is also not reusing the Tikis, but Vikings as enemy. This means K.Rool likely won't be in Tropical Freeze, but is still the series' major villain. The outcry for the return of Kremlings and especially K.Rool by most fans of Returns might be fulfilled one day with a 3rd DKCR game. Something that isn't out of the question.

As a character, K.Rool could be the new heavy weight of the newcomers. He fulfills an easy role with that, but there's enough moveset potential and overall creativeness to think of with his character.

There's more, but this is something at least.

Mewtwo, Dixie, Chrom, yeah, I can see that. And to be honest, am not even expecting K.Rool fully, but there's no more reason to worry about his exclusion than before. Based on updates, DKC got nothing yet. Could be changed in a week's notice though, so I'll just see honestly.

If not Toad than who? All I've got is Dixie, K.Rool, and Ridley. I thought Toad was one.

Toad didn't have the originality in terms of play style, moveset, or skillset to be playable. Maybe with Toad's increased role in the Mario universe Toad will become something of a more original character to finally have enough original and unique moves and/or attributes to be considered a viable newcomer option other than as a late addition clone.

Also, while being an important character is required (whether a main character of a continuing/minor franchise or being an important character in a large franchise), it doesn't get you in the door. You gotta add a lot to the roster that no other viable newcomer candidate character (or veteran) can add, or be a great late addition clone. Currently, the former is the only one that really applies to Toad.

At least, that's the way it appears, and that is the way of the Johnknight1.
