I actually wasn't thinking very clearly when I said that.

Someone pointed out how Ridley isn't really mentioned in either language, lol. The Japanese one could also easily refer to Ridley though. I guess a better point to make is how it doesn't have the "COULD APPEAR AT ANY MOMENT" line. At least supposedly? I dunno.

So Samus's PTSD might appear when a player uses her on the Pyrosphere? Guess the Samus mains know one stage to avoid at all costs then.

On the topic of Ridley hacks, I enjoyed the little irony of this one here... The kind of resized Ridley we were more or less wanting, kicking Dyna Blade Ridley's bum!

Should kinda be a kick in the balls to those who say Ridley's not as threatening/loses his threat level when shrunken down.
If only that PSA hack could show people that Ridley can work out as a playable character.

Yeah, sadly the things wrong with that PSA hack and others could make people be against a playable Ridley even more with how stupid it looks in some respects because of the stance and whatnot, not that I blame them. Can't really expect amateurs to make a perfect Ridley model/hack for something like Smash either though.

But he was still in the game
he had literally ten minutes of screen time. it wouldn't surprise me if King K. Rool was revealed under the same premise.

remember in Batman Begins how they publicly denied Liam Neeson's role as being that of R'as al Ghul, but then when you watched the movie he was R'as al Ghul? it's like that.

So.... If Ridley is unlockable, what method of unlocking do you think would be best for him?

I sorta think he should be unlocked via event match like Melee Ganondorf.

Use Samus to defeat Bowser on Pyrosphere. Because Bowser is also too big for Smash.

Para-Bowser anyone? :troll: (felt like saying it after seeing the above comment)

As for unlocking Ridley, perhaps win 5 matches on the Pyrosphere? Otherwise I second the idea of an Event Match being used for him, like Ganondorf in Melee?

There were so many Ridley posts today on the Smash Bros Miiverse. People are trying to figure out why Sakurai is hyping Ridley and the Pyrosphere if he's just going to be a stage hazard. I've noticed people saying things like "what does Sakurai have to gain by hyping Ridley if he's just a hazard. All he's going to do is upset the fans." The more this opinion can spread the better for all us Ridley supporters. For if worse comes to worst a big enough out cry could mean something.

There is no way the team is oblivious to all the Ridley love and debates. If Ridley does get announced playable I have a feeling Sakurai would acknowledge the controversy. Which would pretty much conclude to me that we are currently living through the deliberate actions of a troll.

Even if Ridley isn't going to be playable the direct connection we have to the developers is key for the future of SSB U and 3D. There is even hope for DLC later on.

Event Match: Defeat the Big Bad Boys
Battle: Defeat Bowser, Ganondorf and King Dedede.
Character: Samus (you can only use her).
Stage: Pyrosphere
Unlock: Ridley

@RomanceDawn: If Ridley is going to be playable, it's going to be now (at least as long as Sakurai is in charge). Brawl was Ridley's first real shot of getting in and he failed. Smash 3DS and Wii U is Ridley's second shot of getting in. Should Ridle fail to get in, it would indicate a lack of interest from Sakurai to make Ridley playable.

I also wouldn't hope for DLC if Ridley fails to get in the initial roster. If we get DLC, that will be reserved for cut characters due to technical/time constraints. Ridley will either get in now or not at all.

Nobody should pay any attention to the Miiverse community. Most of them just have massive double standards regarding characters. In fact, the whole "Ridley is too big" arguement IS just a massive double standard.

I don't really see Ridley as a "now or never" kind of deal unless Sakurai happens to also give a reason on why Rids could never work as a playable character after SSB4's release (should he get deconfirmed again), which I would not expect him to change his mind on by that time like he may have with Villager. Otherwise, in hindsight, I could see Ridley being even more possible for the next game depending on what's done with him in a future Metroid or something by then, and I guess depending on what Sakurai has to say about him again. Still kinda hard/fuzzy to me at this point on what'll happen with him if he's not in again.

As for DLC, I wouldn't count on it that much, but we'll see.

I doubt we'll be getting DLC in any form unless theres a good amount of unfinished characters and/or content that Sakurai wanted to include, (or just a few things that Sakurai really wanted to include) but couldn't for whatever reason. If I recall right, Sakurai is iffy about DLC, right?

IIRC Sakurai wanted some DLC when it came to Brawl, but couldn't make it happen due to the Wii's technical limitations. Whether that's true or not though, I'm still not expecting much for DLC either.

He wanted to patch the game, more specifically the online, but additional content was never planned.

Oh..

Guess we can only wonder how much more playable Brawl's online would've been from a patch alone, particularly Basic Brawl. At least it's something SSB4 and beyond will be able to have.

If Ridley is a stage hazard, he sure is being teased a lot for a stage hazard.

I suspect sakurai will play this game for awhile.

Samus is actually really tall, Mario is like a dwarf in comparison if you look at the most recent pic of the day.

I want Ridley and Waluigi to be confirmed just to see how the anti-Ridley and Waluigi people on gamefaqs react .

I've noticed that when Bowser has shown up in a Daily pic that Samus has always been in it too. Kinda odd.

..........................Bowser's just being used until Ridley's revealed, obviously :troll:

Its hard to believe that we are closing in on a month since the Pyrosphere was first shown. My what a dramatic month this has been.

I still feel on edge until there is a confirmed gimmick for the Pyrosphere. Every single Metroid stage has had one.

Well, lava has already been shown on Pyrosphere. And I don't think there would be too many stage hazards on one stage, so I don't think Ridley is a stage hazard now. The possibility remains, yes, but it is becoming less and less likely as we see more pictures of the stage without Ridley.

Have we seen screenshots of the lava rising?

Just because every Metroid stage has had one thus far doesn't mean it's a must that this stage needs to have one too, things change. I really don't think there's a gimmick on the stage, whether it'd be lava or w/e, it'd have been shown by now. Having a gimmick shown that isn't Ridley would be assuring of course, but I don't think there's much to show, which is why recent pictures just focus on the details of the stage rather than how it works.
