From what I understand though Roy took quite a long time and he appears to be similar to his Melee incarnation. I guess I don't understand enough about the clone enigne to know how difficult whole new a character would be compared to one where you at least have a base to work with.

It really depends.

Mewtwo is going to be confirmed for sure. As will likely Little Mac. If Ridley is de-confirmed (as looking like Toad), I think no potential newcomer for a veteran franchise is safe. I do think both K. Rool and Dixie Kong not making it would be a plausible scenario, as well as no Mario newcomer.

However, personally, I think you are right that Project M does need more support. I do think the Ridley fanbase should make a massive push to include Ridley in Project M, possibly making him the only non-Brawl/Melee character on the roster. He has an excellent model already within Brawl, and the Brawl announcer has already done voice work for his name.

To be fair, they say they can't make Ridley bigger because it makes him really buggy. However, personally I don't mind a smaller Ridley. I just want a playable Ridley.

I think his chances are the same since we first saw the stage. I think the details we all need to look at are moving parts on the stage. The moment we see the holes in the stage or the bridge intact then we can pretty much confirm Ridley is the hazard.

Like I said earlier, in the 4 pictures that we've seen, the big hole and little hole have been there the whole time if you pay close enough attention to detail. I'm expecting Ridley to fly out and start destroying scenery and so far I just don't see it.

Of course Ridley could just fly out a premade hole and back in again unlike how things worked in Other M.

What ever the case, Sakurai and his team must know the torture he's putting his English speaking Miiverse community through. I mean if there was ever a time when he was toying with the fans it would be now.

Is it worth noting that Sakurai himself didn't mention Ridley, but rather whoever is in charge of the English site. I doubt Sakurai would let that kind of thing slide without his knowledge, but still.

Ridley wasn't even directly mentioned by the translator either.
Just nodded at as "an enemy of Samus' past". Just like Sakurai's original statement of "Samus' trauma"; no direct mention of Ridley, but still making a nod towards him.
Essentially talking about Ridley without talking about Ridley.

I think if Ridley's a stage hazard we will know for either Friday's update, or some time next week. I can't see Sakurai holding off much longer if Ridley is a stage hazard.

You should know by now that any attempt to predict when things will be revealed will be futile.

We'll know about Ridley's fate when we know about Ridley's fate. When that will be is just as easy to guess as when the world is going to end.

maverick, not bad. Wii Fit Trainer was a good reveal in my opinion. maverick as in he wouldn't be a very expected reveal- he's not been hinted at or discussed at all

Chrono, how is Project M's Roy anything Luigi-fied? He can only alter the direction of his Side B, which is still Marth's move, and have fiery effects on his N Air, Down Smash and Up Smash. Only his Back Air is a move that is actually different from Marth's Back Air. All others, he shares the animation at least of Marth. Ohh... And I guess the Neutral B counts to, only cause Marth's changed in Brawl.

I don't know, Other M Ridley actually seems like it would be harder to work with. Its proportions would definately have to be changed first.

Yeah, the general posture of that Ridley hack makes me weep a thousand times, screws all over Ridley's usual pose, nature and proportions, and the neck defies all physics. But hey, it's still a valiant effort by the community, but I've personally never bothered trying it out, just looking at it makes my stomach ache.

The Other M model would still need heavy proportions manipulation, though that's the case with all Ridley designs. The Other M model is decent as a fighter, just gotta cut off some inches of the tail, scale his hands and fingers down, scale his wings down, and scale everything down a little bit after that except the head, maybe get rid of the random leg spikes too. There's still no way he'll be able to bite properly with those jaws, but hey, it's Smash Bros, they can get away with that.

It looks like Ridley per se, just the neck is a bit disjointed/needs fixing, as does the default stance as you pointed out. I wasn't saying that would be the ideal Ridley I'd want to play as though, but for something made by a nonprofessional/someone that isn't actually a game designer, it's not that bad IMO.

I'd be fine if they used Dyna Blade Ridley's model & resized it, but I wouldn't really want to play as it much if it just had the same kind of moves it did in Brawl (creating a wind gust and other **** you normally wouldn't see Ridley do). The "****ty PSA" Ridley was more respectable from a moveset standpoint.

Agreed though on duckface Ridley.

if it's anything like what they've done with Samus's armor, I expect an updated version of Ridley's Other M appearance- that is, a model that calls back his design in that game, modified and made nicer for Smash.

I got some high expectations for Ridley, and that PSA doesn't cut it for me. The Down B and Forward Throw is alright. That's about it.

This. I have a feeling that we are going to be waiting for a relatively long time before Ridley gets confirmed should he be a playable character (not really expecting him until 2014).
