I part I believe the most is "the way Brawl communicates with American routers." I've heard that from someone too since Japan supposedly has "special internet" or something.

In any case, the advertisement should have been a while ago after the announcement. Brawl is already popular but still hasn't met pre-sale requirements? That's bull since not all people pre-order to buy the game. Some people just prefer to buy it on the spot and not deposit money for a game that hasn't been released yet (heck, for a game that has been delayed multiple times).

For all of us here (Smashboards), the game will sell regardless of language and first-week sales. Let the hardcore fans get there game delay free while casual gamers can sit out their "I'll buy it in stores without a pre-order." method and get the fully translated version. Shortage of copies vs sales over time, advertising pre-release vs during first few weeks...I see NO good reasons for delay.
Shiek was just icing on the cake for this week.

I agree with you on one thing.

The thing about advertisements close to release.
It will get the hype going early and really convince people to buy this game.

If you advertise months BEFORE the game... well, people DO forget, right?

You still have to be optimistic about it and accept the delay.
What doesn't hurt us makes us stronger.

from a source i cant reveal...the reason brawl was delayed

simply put, Nintendo of America made this decision, not Sakurai. brawls pre-order numbers weren't looking good, and Nintendo of America (NOA) wanted more time to get together the advertisements, commercials, magazine ads, and promotions to drive stronger first week sales. Another factor in the placement of the American delay is to give this part of the year stronger profit. My source had no details on this matter. The Japanese numbers are fine and the week delay is for a shortage of copies made. The game is finished in Japan in in full. NOA is still working on localization and the way brawl communicates with American routers. So in short, we simply will have to wait another extra month for Brawl , unless u want it half English/ half Japanese.
Sorry, I don't feel like wading through this entire thread, but what you say is incorrect.

I have a good friend who works at Gamestop and back in November they had 4 times the preorders for Brawl already than they had for Galaxy. By your logic they would have delayed Galaxy, but they didn't. I believe they already had 180 pre-orders in November (it was in Denton, TX, a town of only 80k people).

TC, you made this up. You used logic, and you made it up. You got the lack of pre-orders from another thread where someone mentions his local Gamestop did not sell out. However, I think it is likely that Nintendo would want to increase at least fisrt month sales. Remember, the Wii was always targeted at a mora casual audience...Still, it's not reasonable to delay a game for advertizement...

Even though I am sure you don't have a source and are full of ****, all of this info looks correct because it is painstakingly obvious. But thanks for trying to take credit for it with pretending to have a source.

Low pre-order numbers in America - you lost your credibility right there. That kind of information isn't given to Nintendo by every single company.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

Everyone who is ANYONE interested in Video Games already knows about Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Nintendo is being greedy and obnoxious. If they wait too long, it'll surpass the date of peak sales, and tailspin towards bad sales.

This isn't Nintendo, it's messy and sloppy.

My local EBGames has been holding my money since AUGUST. I want my GAME!

If they did that that would be the stupidest move ever. Why? Because the sold out to dam soccer moms and old people who don't even play anything without the "Wii" prefix.

Nintendo should take a book out of MS' page, the hyped Halo up to a house hold name easily, but I guess Nintendo is too dam busy protecting 4 year olds with Wii from pedophiles.

If true, that kind of ticks me off.

I mean, why should we have to wait an extra month for a game when it's already done? Nintendo saw the success of Melee; obviously Brawl would be successful no matter what kind of marketing campaign is launched for it. Who cares about first week sales? Are they trying to beat Halo 3 or something? Sales over a long period are more important than in the get-go.

Either way, it's stupid that they couldn't just get the marketing done sooner so we wouldn't have to wait nonsensically for this game. I mean, why couldn't they just use the same commercials as the Japanese ones, but with English text and voiceover. Seriously, do they have to make it such a big deal and sacrifice the patience of their fans?

If all this is just for some darn "We would like to play" commercials, I will hurt somebody.

What the heck are you saying? Regardless of how angry you may be, it does make sense. It's NOA's production line that holds us up now, whether it's advertising or making the game compatible with North American routers either way it's up to them now. The game is done, we can all attest to that. Japan will get it first. The only thing we can depend on Sakurai for is aspects about the game itself, not it's translations or immigration to North America. BRAWL IS DELAYED GET OVER IT! I DO, YOU DO! EVEN EUROPEANS HAVE TO AND THEY WAIT LONGER THAN US, STOP COMPLAINING!
If you don't know what I'm saying, it's probably not a good idea to comment on it.

It's also probably a good idea to say I'm angry when I'm not.

ok the part about localization and setting it up for american routers, i can believe

but for advertisements...come on....it doesnt take that long to do a commercial. just go the japanese route, show the wii logo, then about 10-15 seconds of brawl footage, then "Super Smash Brothers Brawl, available now. Rated T for Teen" wii logo again, end of commercial

well NOA realized that it was hard to determine just how many ppl see the website...since so many ppl visit the site daily it receives multiple hits from the same person. NOA wants to be sure everyone is aware of Brawl, and is taking new approaches of advertising to get to the consumer base thats not tech savvy....the parent purchasing for the child.

and yes melee sells...but it was a large number over a large period of time.

NOA wants large numbers in a very short amount of time.

one quote mentioned was " If Halo 3 can do it, so can Smash3"
any website can track UNIQUE IP. thats how many different households connect to the website. if you think Nintendo doesn't know how many people and from what area of the world even go to their site you are severely lacking in internet knowledge.

The fact that there is a website with daily updates says enough. They know it's going to sell

Playing Brawl until I have a seizure, nah im kiddin
God.. I just know this is partially Halo 3's fault... Halo 3 is a ****ing overrated piece of trash that deserves to be in the garbage. All the other pieces of trash would consider Halo 3 an outcast, and demand that it be incinerated immediately, but the incinerator refuses to incinerate such a piece of crap. As Halo 3 degrades, it stinks up the trash so much that the other pieces of trash die and rot and stink up the entire world even more than Halo 3 already did. Then everyone dies.
HAHAHAHA I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THAT"S SO FUNNY:laugh:

If they would stop delaying it...I would pre-order. I'm not going to just let some vender hold on to my money forever...
why not it's just 5$ so that you dont have to risk driving to gamestop and letting someone tell you "sorry were sold out...nub"okay the nub part was my idea XD(I am not callin you a nub I just like to put "...nub"at the end of all my sentences)

and i really really want that game NOW

..anyone for a gamestop raid when the first shipments come in?
I'll join!,anyways back on topic, they can just be making more copies of the game so that they dont make the same mistake with the wii's high consumor demand
