man this is fake if what your saying is true then Nintendo website would have confirmed the delay they still havent
Due to delays in the completion of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, we’ve had to change the release date of the game to Sunday, March 9th.

I deeply apologize to the people who have looked forward to playing the game for so long and ask that you hold on just a little longer. Thank you for your patience.

its on the front page

well NOA realized that it was hard to determine just how many ppl see the website...since so many ppl visit the site daily it receives multiple hits from the same person. NOA wants to be sure everyone is aware of Brawl, and is taking new approaches of advertising to get to the consumer base thats not tech savvy....the parent purchasing for the child.

and yes melee sells...but it was a large number over a large period of time.

NOA wants large numbers in a very short amount of time.

one quote mentioned was " If Halo 3 can do it, so can Smash3"
Not to be offensive, but this is one of the worst excuses I've ever heard.

Gezz, Nintendo sure is greedy... They always want more and more money and don't care at all about costumers if they know they can make more money. I mean in most all they're gameshows all they do is brag about how much they sell nintendo crap instead of talk about games. They won't be allowing people to cancel preorders because they want more preorders to happen in the US. That's pretty lame of nintendo but they don't care if they make us wait we will still buy it of course... I know I will... Hell, I already paid in full at gamestop years ago for this game **** >.>

Here's a reason I heard.
I leaked it to myself.

sakurai wanted to put finishing touches on the game, to make it super amazing.
Seriously.
Not kidding.
The Real Deal. ;)

Get it together Nintendo, the only reason Smash isnt raking in cash like say a **** casual game is because its got an underground fanbase..
I can't realize how misinformed people on these boards are. Smash bros is the farthest thing from an "underground franchise" Melee sold over 5 million worldwide.

That commercial....better be....SO EPIC.....that I will cry under it's awesomeness, and get goosebumps. That goes same for the Mag ads.

No the game is done, it will come out on Japan the 31st and US March 9, so they can't really add anything new.

I believe the one who wrote this thread...

but **** what kind of ignorant, dark age-ish people don't know about brawl?

Things we already know:
The game is already done.
Some or all parts of the game is translated into english (known by the screenshots given in the Dojo)
Things that may be the problem for this 1 month delay compared to a 1 week delay:
-Wifi Troubles?
-Translation may have given bugs to the english game? (just saying...)
-Issues with the game: NOA did not make enough copies?
-NOA wants to make this game a bigger hit, more popular and is not satisfied with current results of the preorders and estimated games sold.

I heard the server stuff, and advertising makes sence. I wouldn't doubt that it was delayed for so long due tonumerous factors. Of course, preorders are one thing. Brawl has never been more then a few weeks close to the US launch, so pre-orders are going to be low.

It's partly that Nintendo has shot themselves in the foot with this game.

You are full of bs. Obviously you are just a kid that doesn't know much. I am not going to bother critiquing what you said because it's complete bs. You don't have a clue about advertising and your post proves it. Just the very tone of your message shows you are an immature kid that is having fun on the internets.

[sarcasm]
How in the world will internet advertising ever work since we can't detect unique hits?

Since this is Nintendo's first important game release ever, they surely have never figured out how advertising works. Of course they would wait until a month to go to even bring it up.

Need to advertise for? WTF? what the hell is the dojo's weekly blog there for? they had plenty of time to promote! Get it together Nintendo, the only reason Smash isnt raking in cash like say a **** casual game is because its got an underground fanbase. I mean hell, i'm pretty sure everyone here on the boards has it preordered. and Melee had like one commercial, but it was pretty lame.
Not everybody knows about the DOJO, lots of people still don't even know brawl is coming out. If they advertize it alot then the other fans who didn't know will probably buy it to

You can tell in Sakurai's voice in teh Dojo that he was indeed sad..
This made me lol.

But yeah on the topic of promotion...If they want some of that, shoot...so something OTHER than commercials...

All they're going to do is a crappy Wii would like to play commercial...

Really pissed about this update. I want to import a Japanese Wii right now tbh, but I can't just drop $300.

This is a big screw up between Team Sakurai and Nintendo. Nintendo obviously wants the game out ASAP, because this was their biggest Gamecube seller. Moreover they will expect Brawl to sell more Wiis. I mean this is a slow time in the gaming industry (Jan - March). A game like Brawl could boost sales and strengthen Wii's position in the industry why other consoles are suffering from sluggish releases. So of course Nintendo wants this game out. They wanted it out before Christmas. But when it came down to it Sakurai could have cared less about the numbers. He just wants to make the best game possible. And that increased the development time which in turn pushed everything else back. Im sure the execs at Nintendo were having a fit over this, but what can they do? Sakurai is Brawl. There was no way around it.
The extra time spent on this game will be justified in the end. I just wish Nintendo had been more patient with the development. It would have saved them face, especially here in Japan, where they changed dates right in the middle of an advertising campaign.

if the tc is correct about this being why brawl is delayed, it would make perfect sense. Ive said (and im sure some others) NOA has seriously sucked it up in terms of marketing and advertising. Why do you think Halo 3 broke records and did so well? ADVERTISING AND MARKETING. do you know how many people bought mountain dew just cuz it had master chief on it? ( I never did, but i know some that did).

if you have to blame someone, blame those douchebags in the environmental car asking people would they like to play. Cause they havent asked anyone if they want to brawl. *** wholes...

I agree with Kashi about Sakurai's position in brawl. He promised fans worldwide the greatest game of the year, probably the next couple of years. So I'm sure to him and his team a month to fine tune the game and make it flawless doesn't seem too bad. We've already waited three months since the original Dec. 3rd release, so one more month of waiting doesn't seem that extreme. Sakurai, however, did seem to have a somber tone in the announcement of the delay, so perhaps this delay is a combination of NOA needed better sales and Sakurai needing to satisfy the expectations of fans.

Probably contradicting myself here, but Brawl already looks bad ***, if it was released now I'd definitely buy it, and I'm sure plenty of others would too. Makes me wonder exactly what needs fine tuning.

Just my two cents

This may be boojy but it could be true. My true belief it's got to do with the online. This is supposed to satiate us for at least 5 years, clunky online play would suck for 5 years. I would rather wait one month for them to sort it out rather than go through Budokai online again.

You must not be a journalist.

Journalists regularly conceal the identity of their sources in an effort to protect them and themselves in situations involving political exile - in many cases, when lives and livelihoods are at stake by revealing their sources.

That the original poster anonymized his source is exactly this. It's just good journalism.
i wouldn't say im a journalist...but im in a position where i am able to obtain info from ppl "in the know"
