You have to successfully switch in on any of my attacks.
I could. I switch into ANY attack, go next, and use Power Swap. Power Swap, while giving me your attack, will ALSO give you my mediocre 148 attack. your next attack can't kill because of your severly weakened attack. But w/e, it's fine:)

With 328 SpDef & Light Screen, your attacks do little damage. Toxic will eventually kill you. HP Ground is SE, but it's mostly for Poisons and Steels. There is an easy counter for this.

Also, ORLY, where do you find those calculators? I'd love it if you posted links:)

I forgot to calculate that... I feel extremely stupid now. Power Swap for competitive battling!

Weird set, but it's meant to counter my counters. Sleeps you and sets-up. Then sweeps with horrible coverage.

The calculator I use... http://ownpurpose.com/damage_calculator_test.php
- It's easy to use, unlike other calculators
- It has a Pokemon stat calculator included
- It looks prettier than the other calculators on the first page of Google
- The link isn't 5 paragraphs long

One of my favorite Pokes! Liechi+Belly Drum is useless. Outspeeds by one point, Hypnosis activates unburden to outspeed just about everything. If you belly drum, you fall into Tbolt's ohko range. Hypnosis returns the sleep and sweeps from there.

I see it as a good counter, grass not wouldn't work well since drifblim isn't very heavy. but the other attacks look good.

Remember, you have to switch in successfully. If you switch into Hypnosis, well you have a 30% chance of attacking back. Counters need to guarantee the win. If you had a Lum Berry, it may work. But then, you wouldn't have enough power.

You're right. That's the true definition of a counter after all. Even if you Baton Pass a Substitute, would that not count? I think it would not. If that's the case, you'll need to post a true Drifblim counter (one that will switch in successfully, not a poke with horrible defenses and whatnot like Pikachu). Remember, there is still an übers counter game as well; however I don't know the last posted über.

If you take the odds of Hypnosis working into account, there isn't sufficient chance of the lightning mouse surviving. So, against Drifblim:

Clefable w/Toxic Orb
(Opposite of Adamant)/Magic Guard
255 Sp. Atk./ 255 Sp. Def.
+ Charge Beam
+ Fling
+ Amnesia
+ Moonlight
Unfortunately for Drifblim (misleading name, BTW) there is no Hypnosis on a poisoned monster. Amnesia cancels Clefable's Fighting weakness, and, since I don't need the Orb, I can throw it. BLOUOUORP...

Ben Tucks says Steelix or Nests are next!

I'm sorry, but did you seriously say 'Monster'? You've been playing too much Yugioh my friend. Opposite of Adamant is Modest. Toxic Orb activates at the end of your turn. Meaning, you could switch in, take the Hypnosis, and Toxic Orb would fail to activate. However, it takes me 4 hits to KO you and sleep only lasts 2-5 turns. The odds are in your favor for this one. I would probably get outstalled. BTW Flinging a Toxic Orb has only 30 base power. Ugh... I put too much thought into this.

Well, its the nature of the counter game. Due to the fact that your playing a game that forces your opponent to essentially be hit by any of your moves, having something like Toxic, Will-o-Wisp or Hypnosis on your pokemon basically shuts down alot of counters, and forces you to either choose a new pokemon or use a lum berry. You'll also notice an increase in the use of Substitute due to the fact that you can guarantee yourself the ability to use it.

It seems the basic idea when making a counter at this point is to chose something that can easily counter the current pokemon with one move, then give them moves that they wouldn't normally be able to use, like rock polish or swords dance, then another move for type coverage then a final move that will either guarantee perfect type neutrality or, if you cant manage that, either Substitute, Hypnosis, or one of the other useful status moves they learn.

To whom it may concern, I write "monster" because Pocket Monster is abbreviated as...you know. So they're monsters. I don't want to write "Pokemon" because I can never remember how to type the accent.

Against...Wait, Politoed didn't even have an ability!
...Against Empoleon:

Parasect w/Focus Sash
Adamant/Dry Skin
255 Atk./ 55 Sp. Def./ 200 Speed
+ Spore
+ Bullet Seed
+ Dig
+ Aerial Ace
I don't think I even need EVs. Eventually, Bullet Seed will kill you, I assume. The Focus Sash is just for the next counter.
