Marth has a few more than 3 even matchups, including the rest of top tier. Also, Marth can get gimped! Sure, good DI goes a long way, but he can't recover from 95% of places offstage.

Debatable. King Dedede and GaW have better chances imo. Even ROB could end up higher than Marth

I don't believe you can say what tier Marth is if MK gets banned, as MK provides his worst matchup.

However, I'm pretty sure that if that was all he had against him he'd be higher so he's not likely to become the be-all end-all the way MK currently is doing.

???? I was responding to someone arguing against the banning of MK b/c of how dominant it would make Marth. My response was, as you say, Marth isn't nearly as broken, so he wouldn't dominate.

And I wrongly said Marth has even matchups with all of top tier - not true, he's got an edge over G&W.

between fox, falco shiek and marth at the highest playable levels in melee, there is no match that is more than 45-55 in anybodys favor. its played at such a high level that you would have to call marth/shiek 47-53 in shieks favor

snake IS countered by several characters

Even if he 60:40s everyone, that doesn't mean everyone will automatically pursue him. I've seen alot of people drop MK because he's overused already. Many will stay with him, but alot of people play other characters for other reasons. At that margin, skill still comes largely into place, and people will play other characters.

any truly competitive player WANTS TO WIN and therefore does not care that MK is overused

A standing chaingrab from 0-190% will probably give Wario a large advantage over Meta Knight.

Nobody's sure if it works, though.

Again the issue with this is that grabbing MK with Wario is rather difficult. For one MK has incredibly range to his attacks and can remain in the air and avoid grabs.

Even if it does work, I'm pretty sure that there will be a limit at tournaments. So you will only be able to grab him like 4 maybe 5 times in a row.

At which point I can just Fair, Dtilt, Ftilt and use all my safe moves so that it will be impossible for you to perform a shieldgrab or hey I can just stay in the air where I outrange you.

Ther eis no but still.
Big freaking deal you have a grab that can infinite MK.
It means nothing if you cannot land the grab.

Wario is not like the IC's who have setups and can force a grab.
nor is he like DDD or Falco who have either setups or a large grab range.

Mk's range assures that if Wario wants to go for the infinite he'll get punished repeatedly.

Don't get grabbed.

iTl;Dr: Mk isn't getting grabbed easily. Its very difficult to get a grab on him.

Landing a grab on an MK who plays safely is like trying to land a warlock punch. Yeah you'll get it eventually but MK's ability to outrange Wario and avoid getting grabbed means you're playing with a much higher risk that outweighs the reward.

If the CG does work yes that's great, but it does not mean anything if you CANNOT land it reliably.

Again don't get caught up on the fact that he has a CG.
Sonic lands an Fsmash 100% of the time on Wario after an air release does this mean Sonic has an advantage?
No. Yes sonic can have an easier time grabbing Wario than some character but the ability to grab Wario reliably and often enough to put that tactic into effect makes it much, much less effective.
