Nah. Personally, I don't like that system. I think it worked for MP:H because you didn't have to see every one of the hunters in Adventure Mode. In this one, the character will ALWAYS be there for you to unlock. I think if you don't have them unlocked, and you fight them, it's just more insentive to go find them.
