Have you guys seen the SSBB website? Team mode...
...that sounds incredibly cool. Just imagine the possiblities with Geno in there.
Lately, whether it be during the middle of the night or during a math test, I have this recurring thought: "Geno's going to be in Brawl." All evidence points to yes: the character criteria, Sakurai's poll, the fan support... everything. We all want him in Brawl (excluding those select "special" few), but when you stand back and admire the whole picture, you see just how amazing his appearance would be.
"The Adventure mode also emphasizes character development. You’ll see many famous characters persevering under the weight of their personal histories, shouldering their unique burdens... It’s really something you won’t see anywhere else."
That's from the official website. The popular characters' "personal histories" or "unique burdens" are at least estimable to the point where all you have to do is read their Wikipedia entries to get an idea. But for someone like the Ice Climbers or Pokémon Trainer... or Geno...
The outcomes are endless. The ones I can think of for Geno are miles deeper and more introspective than any other character's.
And for the rest of Brawl: fighting moves, taunts, stages, voices, updated looks... if you just think on that for a little while, it drives you crazy. ...Well, it's driving me crazy. There's just so many qualities Sakurai could instill into Geno through this game, minding the ones he already has. (Thank God our boy debuted an RPG like he did- if it would've been in a Mario sports game or something like that, he would've turned out as an empty shadow of a more popular character or species *stares at most Paper Mario partners, Daisy and Waluigi*)
And even then, there's that little tiny fear that I have, the fear that when I turn on the game for the first time he's not going to be there, or if I check the website, I'll see him on there, faint, and then find out he's an assist trophy or meaningless background character. If either of these scenarios occur, Nintendo will regret the day they gave me so much hope for nothing. I'd never be able to pick up the game without getting a lump in my throat thinking about what could've been...
Back when I did have SMRPG, I never got to play as Geno. In '96, when the game came out, I was watching my dad play Super Mario 64, my first game. I was too young to ever have an SNES, but for about ten years we did have a SNES9X, my favorite emulator. One year I begged my dad to get me some new games for it, and he gave me some random games... SMRPG included. Of course, our computer was pretty **q*ed up, so it wouldn't save game data for long periods of time. Years later, by the time we got the daggum thing to permanently save, I had tired of playing through the first few levels and had moved on to the Gamecube and newer Nintendo releases. And of course, about two years ago, the computer that had the emulators on it killed over, which left me SNESless excluding the crappy Gameboy Advance remakes that I hated so.
And only this past year did I bother to find about SMRPG and what I had been missing. If I hadn't been browsing Youtube and found the Rawest Forest remix that had me wondering who Geno was... *sighs* So I went around, found out who he was and kind of saw the whole plot of SMRPG. And you know what sucks? The farthest I can ever remember getting on that game was to the part where Bowser's minions assembled around Tadpole Pond somewhere. Right before Rose Town. Right before me finding Geno and assimilating him into my video game past.
I figure if he's in Brawl, at least some part of that gap that was left empty due to the fact I never played as him will be filled.
...I know that may seem random, but everyone else has posted their opinion on why Geno should be in and I haven't done much more than draw a few things. So...
Godspeed, Geno! Make it into Brawl!
