Yes, brawl was made random simply to make it more appealing, and it became less competitive in doing so. Falco: "Dash, Grab, Down throw, Dash, Grab, Down throw, Da- WTF I TRIPPED! NO MORE CG!!!"
Anyway, you get the idea. It's annoying.

In honesty, that does help the balancing of Brawl. Not that Dedede suffers too much from it...

So, basically this is where anyone can come in and ask me stuff. This is the Marth forum of course so I expect most stuff to be Smash related, but feel free to ask me anything that you want to talk know about or talk about. Religion, politics, my interest...fire away.

Why am I doing this?

Because I can. ;)

Nah, j/k. Mostly it's because I have nothing better to do and this can occupy some of my free time which I have in excess these days.

Sooooooooooooooooo.....chat away.
How come you're not coming to the CJ's tournament in Buffalo? I want to see a really good Marth player (since i'm meh with him)

Word from the smashers around here is that Montage is shook of the MD/VA smashers that are coming.

j/k...but not really

Emblem Lord, I know that you haven't gone to any tournaments recently; have you played any Brawl recently (excluding Wifi, of course)?

Haven't really played any matches. Mostly just played to test stuff out although some people are coming over to train with me today.

Well...more like they are coming over so I can beat on them, and then I give them advice to improve, but they ignore me because they are stubborn.

Yo emblem, I've been using marth more and more recently to combat against this awesome local kirby user. He's got my Olimar down to a science.

Anyways, this question is about Sheik. When I use a fair wall as my means of approach she can dash into it after the second fair and grab me. I'm using a SHfair forward, and than I'm falling backwards as I use my second fair. She'll run in and grab me with her fast running speed. DB isn't fast enough to attack the grab attempt. Another very quick SHfair is too slow. Any way to get over this obstacle? What I've done that's working so far is spotdodging the grab, but sometimes she'll shield and wait for the spotdodge to end to grab me.

Sometimes you just gotta do something to counter your opponent's style or what it is that they are doing. If she waits for fairs alot then don't double fair as much or try playing more rushdown.

Try messing with your wall a little bit more too. You SH fair forward alot? So SH fair back forst then do the second in place. or do two fairs going back. Or do an empty SH. Or do double fair and then when she rushes do an up b to stuff it. Or you could roll away.

Seems like the Sheik is just reading your pattern. Time for you to read hers.

I do use the wall of fairs a lot. I feel that it's Marth's best approach. Hopefully, I'll have some videos up soon for y'all to critique.

EL, your source image is pretty but I think the signature overall is rather bland. Can I make a better one?

Sure.

I'll copy and paste the specifications I wanted for this sig. And yeah I admit that the artist didn't really do much for the sig, but I was satisfied cuz the pic I used for it was awesome.

I like your sigs and your art style. I think it will suit what I'm looking for in a sig perfectly. Here is my request.

Picture:

Colors: Up to you, but I will get into that later.

Font/text: I want the sig to have my name, Emblem Lord and also Marth's taunt in japanese which is "Minna, miteite kure!" Emblem Lord should be bigger then the taunt phrase of course. As far as size is concerned and the placement of the text I will leave this to you.

I want Marth to be in the dead center of the sig. The feeling I want to invoke in people when they look at this is a feeling of majesty and and awe. Marth is royalty after all so I think this makes sense. And this particular picture portrays him in a god-like manner which is why I chose it. I want the sig and the background to reflect that godliness and have an ethereal look. Your sig with Ryu in your post pulls this off nicely. I'm not saying go with that exactly for my sig, but it gives you a good idea as to what I'm looking for. Feel free to re-size Marth in this pic for the sig if you have to. As far as actualy font goes, use whatever kind of font you think works really well and will invoke those feelings that I talked about earlier.

Also can you keep the energy waves that are coming off of Marth in the sig? I really like them and I think it fits the theme of what I want really well.

All right then. Thanks in advance.

Whoever did yours really killed the poor quality the original image had in the first place. :ohwell:
It's still good, but could've been better. Anyway, this is not the right place to discuss this (or is it?)

Nintendo's show sucked, but I'm glad it did because I hate their company politics and how they have pretty much abandoned the people who kept them in the industry during two generations that completely failed.

That's the N64 generation and the Gamecube generation for those that don't know.

Microsoft ***** and Sony did well.

I'm a Sony fanboy BTW.

GOD OF WAR 3 WOOOOOOT!!!!!

And wtf@ nintendo calling their abandonment of hardcore gamers in favor of milking casuals with ****ty games a "paradigm" shift?

YALL NIGG@S SOLD OUT, SO JUST ADMIT IT!!!!!

rofl.
I love how black people use the N-word lol. Seriously though with as common as it is for black people to call each other "NIGG@S" as a joke. Why does everyone go psycho when a white person uses it as a joke as well? AND I NEVER ACTUALLY USED THE WORD IN MY POST!

Emblem Lord, have you gone to any Guilty Gear tournaments, what are they like, and if so, who do you main and why? I main Ky Kiske. Haven't been to any tournaments as of yet. You don't get much improvement fighting CPUs on Maniac mode.

Metaknight is the only character that has the stage control advantage when recovering. >_>

A simple fair should work shouldn't it?

^Its hard to do because Metas attacks are very fast with lots of priority and good range.
We should ban Meta XD.

indeed, meta for ban tier.

would probably be best to try to get past him so hes not between you and the stage, then even if he hits you it'll be toward the stage and not away from it. the only problem is how do you do that...

Freeza Saga and Cell games Saga.
**** yeah, Freeza and Cell saga ftw. I still liked the Buu stuff, but something just didn't sit right for me with it. I think it had to do with Gohan. So much build up for him the entire show, and it completely climaxed during the Cell games. Goku is dead, Gohan is SSJ2, this boy who kept showing that he had an astonishing amount of potential finally shows it, and the world is saved. END SERIES.

But no. Apparently, Toriyama was told that the Japanese didn't want the story to end with Goku dead. So he made the Buu saga. Like I said, I like the Buu stuff. Majin Vegeta vs. Goku? Fusions? Good ****. But the Freeza and Cell stuff were just so much better in my mind.

Wow, I'm a huge DB fanboy.

For a casual game, it would was pretty long, especially the Palace in the Sky or whatever.

Phantom Hourglass was kinda easy imo. It might be casual-oriented. It taught you patience, but other than that, it was easy. I even got perfect 25:00 time in the whatever temple (I haven't played that game in like forever, xD).

Agreed, I don't want it to be annoyingly difficult puzzle-wise like Master Quest which had like trap doors and dead ends like every other section of a map. Or game engine-wise, naturally hating you like Majora's Mask with the 3-day system, but something not too easy and a little longer lasting I guess?

Oh yeah, I'm not Emblem Lord.

****.

Master Quest was my favorite Zelda game, because unlike most other Zelda games, it's not as simple/easy.

I think the best thing they could do to any Zelda game would be to double all enemy attack power, except only increase by .5 on bosses. Furthermore, more attacks need to out-prioritize the sword. Spam is effective shield = useless.

Zelda II was probably the best/hardest after that.

And I love a Link to the Past because it's just good, and the first one I played.

I didn't like Master Quest because I stopped playing it for a few months to play Melee and study, and I lost track of what I did in the Spirit Temple. Needless to say, I still attempt to try to find out where I need to go by backtracking, but to no avail. It has been 2 years. Sad. =(

It was too complicated. The programmers made it challenging, but also sadistic. 2nd dungeon = full of dead end doors with ReDeads and Poes = Young Link getting zombie *****.

Link to the Past was fun. I liked the BS Zelda stuff too. I carry them around with me on my R4DS.

Wind Waker is my favorite though. Even if the Earth Temple continues to frighten me and the Wind Temple gives me headaches.

Ah, Zelda. Gotta love that series. ^^

Wind Waker is my LEAST favorite Zelda Game. It was alright until I had to said the ocean and find maps and Triforce fragments at variable places. By that time, the fun in sailing had worn off. Sorry, but that's when I cut off the game and said GG son. Never finished it (I know how it goes though, my bro has more patience for dull nonsense than I do, and I fought the final bosses, etc.)

When recovering vs MK it's just a gamble. If he tries to gimp you and you are close enough you can up b early. If he tries to edgehug you can stall with side b then use your up b to grab the ledge.

If he is actually following you off the stage you need to time a fair or try countering.

Haven't been to any Guilty Gear tournies, but I do have basic knowledge of high level play. I main Slayer, Ky and Chipp.

I use Ky because I like swordsman and I'm a sucker for main characters. I like Chipp because Ninjas are cool and his rushdown is really really good. I use Slayer because he has an interesting style and he is top tier plain and simple.

I like Zelda, but Twilight Princess didn't do much for me. Probably because I had just played and beaten Okami before playing TP and Okami >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> TP IMO.

Around what percentage will breaking a shield give you a kill? I managed to break someone's shield today when they were at about 10 or 15% I went for the fully charged tipped shieldbreaker, but then they didn't die. Sitting there, I just went :(

Depends on the character. Snake/Dedede will die as low as the high 50's.

Anyone else can expect to die in the 40's and 30's.

A light weight could die in the 20's.

15 is a bit too low I'm afraid.

And of course, to get maximum knockback you have to hit with the "true" tip of the shieldbreaker.

All Zelda games are good really. I didnt think of Master Quest any harder then OOT. Its just different meaning you have to rethink the game over. But yeah I totally agree on making enemies do more damage. Oh...and fairies ruin boss fights lol. Zelda 2 was incredibly hard.

Fixed just a litle. MM was excellent, to bad i never get all the mask and was not able to use oni-link (i don't know the exact name cause i didn't get him... to good i knew how to abuse the zora).

Anyway, had anyone played yet force Gemini, the best FPS based on action in my opinion (Metroid prime 2 is in a tie cause it was lots more harder, too bad it had some boring quests).

I own Jet Force Gemini on the N64. That game was epic, and I hope Rare dose a sequel now that they're working for Microsoft as well.

Majora's mask was too fun. Fierce-Deity Link should've been his Final Smash . . . actually Bombos Medallion should've been his final smash. But serious, Fierce-Deity is not special. It just makes ****** the bosses really easy.
