Seems to know what he's doing...knows how to use Lucas' AT properly
And knows when to use grab
Likes to take risks and agressive
Very similar to my Lucas except I nair and use Pk fire more.
I like this Lucas he does well against Marth but he should have used PK fire
more against Marth, it would have made this match a little easier for him.
Especially against an agressive Marth like that one
Just needs more dair & ftilt and try not to SD as much when doing fancy tricks
I like how he dtilt locked in the second vid on Luigi's Mansion
(good use of the stage),psi magnet kills,and offstage game
When i see how good he does against Marth I dont think the match up is as bad as it seems
So many good things to say...my new favorite Lucas player

Way too much dair!...thats like the only move Omni did
Dair is a good approach but if thats all you do it get predictable
He has good spacing though

edit: just watched q-kid's lucas. loving the aggresiveness...see signature i advocate up b'ing offensively :D

....but not that much o_O

holy crap lol gettin too fancy with that thunderslidin and mindgames leads to nothing but SDs and punishes. I wanna see more jab and more spacing. Against a marth that aggressive, especially one that knows you so well, quicker shorter less laggy moves (not PK thunder) are the way to go.

Not great, but not terrible. I think the biggest issue you're having is the matchup rather than your actual strategy.

Here are some things to think about.

-Lucases air game is far more successful against big targets than small ones. Trying repeatedly to nair and dair squirtle will rarely be successful.

-Racking up damage on squirtle is much more easily done (imo) with jabs and spaced f-tilts. He has no projectile: Don't be afraid to use more PKF. Although the terrain on Halberd wasn't exactly level enough to make it that useful.

-Less up smash. More stick. If you're going to upsmash, don't wait 'til the opponent is already standing to start the attack. The timing has to be well thought out or it will get you punished.

-Squirtle and Charizard almost always went for recovering from below. By the third stock, if you've realized this going for spikes couldn't hurt.

-You played Charizard almost the opposite of how you played squirtle iirc. Nair will eat charizard alive because of his size. I think you handled Ivysaur OK though.

-Autocancel nair to jab is the best free shield pressure Lucas has.

-If you didn't already know rock smash is reflectable. This will get him killed instead of your shield.

Overall, I think you just need a little more experience. Execution was pretty good. :)

Edit: Just watched Omniswell's Lucas. I completely agree with lil cj on this one. I couldn't even sit through all of the first video (sorry just being honest lol). If you're going to dair, never short hop it. That's just awful. By the time you've staled it to death and Link's past 120%, it doesn't even have use anymore. Go for a quality f-tilt, an f-smash preferrably, even a grab would be better than trying to set up more dair combos. They lose effectiveness past 100%.

Or the more feasible solution is simply to stop dairing so much (as much as i love it) and use lucas' other moves. Again, autocancelled nair > jab is lucas' best friend. Esp. on a target of Link's size.

But you have the right idea. For the most part, it's kinda what I would do.
Opposite of Omniswell though. I'd like to see a bit more dair from you. On a big target like link, it's not a bad damage option. Try and mix it up with the nair the best you can for good results.

Also, there's always the dair > dtilt > f-smash combo (aka the "minus" combo or around here the "keef" combo (lol that's me)) that you can use at 80% or higher. Love it.

Not bad though.

As keef said, it was ok. It seems like you have a problem with rolling, you seemed to roll a lot, and you got punished bad for it (2 stocks if I'm not mistaken).

Approaching with dair is good, but it seemed like you did it way too much, it might be good to mix it up a bit.

Also, there were a few times when I probably would have magnet pulled back on the stage. The biggest one is when you just came down right behind Ivysaur. You could have been punished for that.

Also on a side note, don't underestimate PT. I was at a tournament once vs a PT, and for two stocks on the first match I got ***** hard randomly, 1st stock with a charizard spike, 2nd stock to a squirtle jab + footstool combo off the edge. I ended up winning, but I underestimated PT and almost lost because of it lol.

I need more vids.

Well i didn't watch the first set but i did watch the second and here are some quick thoughts:

Match 1 ~ nice job on this win. At 0:55 you should have sent out a PKT to try and clip him and get a possible stage spike out of it. With olimar you have to watch the tether recovery bc he can grab us out of it. Not much else for me to say about this one. Good job.

Match 2 ~ again, nm here. you did a good job of not getting Usmash ***** by olimar on Luigi's Mansion. I loved how you tried to dthrow > dtilt lock him early on in the match. i never even thought about doing that. i usually go w/ dthrow > reapeated Utilts. Thanks for the idea!

Match 3 ~ you lost this match bc you were way to aggressive. Lucario was at one stock, mid % and you had 2 stocks, high %. There's no need to be as aggressive at this point. There was only like 4 min left in the match and you were up a stock and half! Slow the pace down and you could have done another 15-20% to him before dieing. Also, i don't believe you recovered any health from his aura balls.

Match 4 ~ again, way too aggressive near the end of the match. The scenario was the same as the previous match being up a stock and a half and there was only like 3 min left. When you had him on his last stock at about 70% i could tell you were looking for the dair > dtilt lock bc you constantly approached with dair. Just let that come naturally! Your approach became too predictable and he read it and punished it every time. In the end, you just got too close to him. Just space those pk fires like you did so well the first 2 stocks and try to time him out or let a pivot grab or fsmash come naturally.

Match 5 ~ smart CP by going D3 against his lucario. Even though you didn't go lucas i'll critique it anyway bc i second/third D3. You did a great job of not getting hit w/ the aura balls by throwing waddle dees and you did good w/ the bairs and dairs. The only thing that i would recommend is that when you're CGing and get to the edge, do another dthrow instead of Fthrow or Bthrow. After the Dthrow he'll go off the stage and below it. dash off the stage and do a Fair. If you miss, what is he going to do? He'll go for the ledge. You will have enough time to do another jump and Bair him, possibly getting a stage spike. That's all i can really say about this match.

dthrow to dtilt lock is too good, but i used dtilt to fast so it didn't work :S
vs Lucario, i got really nervous, i wanted to end the match as fast as possible, so i went extra agressive, looks like it didn't work so well, it won't happen again
as a Lucas main, sometimes i get scared of going out stage, that's why i don't do that with DDD. I've been playing seriously with DDD for one month, and this was the first time i used him in a tourney

1. I believe you'll need a video capture card (i think that's what it's called) and then the wii A/V cables can plug into that and then that plugs into a laptop or comp i believe. OR you can just play the replay and hold a camera up to the TV to record it and then transfer that over to the comp.

2. Friendlies are welcome i'm sure. As for BBrawl, idk.

Try and roll less, aim PKF better and don't use PKT just because. Anyway, for you friend, tell him to fire his lasers more and to use his Gyro more. Also tell him to use his fair and bair more, too. Overall I liked some of the little combos you did.

Don't spam your magnet stall when you use it, maybe use it once or twice. Try to wavebounce back to the stage. Try to use more SHWBPKF. Against ROB if you try to predict the laser, you'll eat a gyro. Mmm...

As for your friend. Use alot more F-tilt and F-air. Tell him to use d-air less too. He did pretty well on the n-air spacing. Also tell him to use D-smash OoS more.

Good job though!
but there was a large skill difference in the battle it seemed because you destroyed a metaknight that looked like it had no idea what he was doing, while you actually did some nice things. When you play a good metaknight player, you'll become agitated at the matchup haha.
Great video to watch though haha.
