Should I watch the show from the beginning first?

Only if you plan on watching all of them.
The first two episodes are joined, and are pilot episodes. that being they were meant to introduce all the characters, give ALOT of background, but at the same time you wonn't see any of the normal pony hilarity, jokes, etc. The hook episodes are "Dragonshy", "Sonic Rainboom", "Bridle Gossip" and "Fall Weather Friends".

My personal favorite's sonic rainboom, the others are taken from a poll in the MLP thread. If you want to start at the beginning, go for it. I did. If you're not the kind of guy to watch cute stuff like this, you may not stay as hooked as i was. Thus, the other episodes.

It's up to you, if you feel like sitting through a good number of them, start from the first.
If not, i told you the best ones :D.
I'll support you watching it all the way through.
