I decided to just not post Spiritomb for the zillionth time. If you attack, I outspeed and OHKO with Shadow Claw. If you use Bulk Up, I can take a +1 Stone Edge and outspeed and 2HKO.

I'm ignoring Superpower and Return because they don't beat the previous counter. I survive long enough to set up a Curse and 1HKO.

Is unaware of all of your boosts, avoids being 2HKOed by Return and outspeeds and 2HKOs with Return>Superpower.

Switch into a waterfall (39.8%), take another, and WoW. Without Lefties, after your 3rd waterfall id be sitting @ 99.5%- Lefties is my cushion. I rest, now only taking <20% per turn, so I can kill you with a HP Fighting/ rest combo.

edit- **** ninjas. im too lazy to test this again, aginst ^^^, but id bet it would work.

vs. Aggron:

Torterra @ Leftovers
Impish/Overgrow
EVs - 24 HP, 232 Att, 252 Def
~Earthquake
~Stone Edge
~Leech Seed
~Substitute

If you Sub on the switch, I'll just eat through it with Earthquake. If you FP on the switch, you get OHKOd by my Earthquake; either way, I'll only take 33%-39%. I use Leech Seed on an incoming counter to restore health over time, and Earthquake takes care of the only two Liquid Ooze Pokemon quite nicely. I can use Substitute to scout for the incoming counter, so I don't risk getting killed or statused immediately.

If you use Earthquake you do nothing and I outspeed and OHKO.
If you use Stone Edge you do max around 85% and I outspeed and OHKO.
If you use Leech Seed I lol and OHKO.
If you use Substitute you can do anything the next turn while the sub breaks, and then I outspeed and OHKO.

This should be about how the battle would go. The explination was mainly for myself, calculation wise. And all of the numbers are percents. I'm waiting for Skunktank, or anything that resists Psychic and Toxic, while fighting Physically.

I really don't know what I am trying to accomplish here but pretty much I'm immune to almost everything you can throw at me, and HP Ice isn't much of a threat with the bulk. Also, the Naive Nature isn't helping your situation.

You can't choose your opponent's moves for you, unless he's carrying a Choice item, like your Sharpedo is. Grass Knot won't OHKO it anyway, so our counter works regardless...

...but so does mine

Toxicroak @ Life Orb
Timid/Dry Skin
EVs - 24 HP, 252 SpAt, 232 Spd
~Sludge Bomb
~Dark Pulse
~Vacuum Wave
~Nasty Plot

Well, my Toxicroak absorbs your Waterfall attack through its Dry Skin, and Crunch only does 46%-54% damage to me. You can't use Earthquake, or else Claydol would still be in play (believe me, I had my tail handed to me trying to argue against that idea). Ice Fang does 50%-59% damage...

My Sludge Bomb deals 104%-123%, scoring a OHKO.

You must be able to "come in on" anything, not just the most likely technique. Even if Grass Knot fails to remove you from office, Earthquake would be ignored because, had it been used, Claydol could have stayed in and won.

Against the ceramic doll:

Xatu w/Focus Sash
Modest/Synchronize
100 Def./ 200 Sp. Atk./ 100 Sp. Def./ 110 Speed
+ Sunny Day
+ Solarbeam
+ Heat Wave
+ HP Ground
If each counter is fresh, then the Sash will work. Did you know that Dragonair learns absolutely no defensive boosters and that only Hitmonchan knows Vacuum Wave by nature?

GO-DIT: Stolen, my thunder. Against Ber- Toxicroak:

Articuno w/Life Orb
Timid/Pressure
200 Def./ 200 Sp. Atk./ 110 Sp. Def.
+ Extrasensory
+ Blizzard
+ Tailwind
+ Signal Beam
Come to think of it...

Where has the time been that failed (choice) counters were just ignored and we went on with what did completely work?

Following that logic, Claydol (or Platypus' Xatu) would now be the current counter.

WouW, what you highlighted wasn't the actual problem, THIS:

peregrine monkey said:

You don't get to choose what you come in on, if you get OHKO'd by something on the switch, then your counter doesn't work. I should just ignore all the current counters and go back to claydol as it hasn't been countered yet, so I will.

Thanks for that clarification. Here's a hopefully suitable counter for Absol.

Hitmonchan@Life Orb
Adamant/Iron Fist
252 Atk/ 252 Spd/ 4 Hp
-Close Combat
-Mach Punch
-Ice Punch
-Thunder Punch

Hitmonchan has one more base speed than Absol and can OHKO with Close Combat. Shrugs off Sucker Punch.

Gallade@Life Orb
Adament/Stead Fast.
252 attack/ 52 def. / 200 speed
-Psycho cut
-Close combat
-Shadow sneak
-Will-o-Wisp

Gallade can slice Hitmonchan in half thanks to Psycho cut being Physical (which lands a bigger hit due to hitmonchans lower defense) Will-o-wisp and Def EV's can easily prevent Hitmonchan from hitting back and shadow sneak can pick off hitmonchan after being weakened if it's still hanging on.

WTF happened? That Sharpedo worked. Claydol's Grass Knot only does ~85% maximum. Sharpedo can come in on any of Claydol's moves, and OHKO with either Crunch or Waterfall.

Reaper, you quoted the exact same thing I did when I posted my Toxicroak counter...

Sharpedo was a viable counter, regardless of what Claydol did.
My Toxicroak counters the Sharpedo.

What the problem is?

EDIT:: In all fairness, Gallade functions perfectly well as a counter to my Croak, and that Spiritomb takes it out, so..............

Magmortar @ Life Orb

Your Shadow Ball does a laughable 33%-38% damage to me, while I'm scoring an easy 2HKO on you with Fire Blast.

-ice punch

Swampert can take down Magmortar with ether of it's Stabs easily. the HP and Special defense EV's will guarantee that Swampert will not loss all of its HP, resulting in a 3KO-4KO. When it's health is low (or possibly burned) ,it'll Rest up and continue to cause trouble.

There is no rule for that.

I can energy ball Gastrodon or Drain it's Health away with Toxic and Leech seed. easily shrugs off Surf and Earthquake.

1) Only BL and below are allowed. OU Pokémon and Ubers are not allowed.

5) Don't assume Spikes/Toxic Spikes/Stealth Rock. Don't use these also.
Yeah, it's not like the rules apply to the thread or anything. Ninterror is obviously right.
