d_shep: Well, once again you're entitled to your opinion so I guess that's cool. Different people are attracted to different things, but I don't really get why people hate Brawl so **** much. If someone is doing the same thing over and over again, it should be easy to defeat it. Use your heads. People have patterns and for every pattern, there is an answer. Other than air dodging, which there seems to be no real way to punish when done low enough to the ground, if you can predict what your opponent will do, you can kill them for it. The execution barrier is undoubtedly lower in Brawl, and I think that's good. There's less room for error and more room for an unrestrained match between two minds. Execution barriers have NEVER defined a good game.
I also get why people think the stuff in Melee made it deeper than brawl, but it really didn't. Brawl's still the same game at it's core, a little hit stun for combos and the lack of wave dashing and L canceling (which I feel like actually makes the game deeper because of lack of an easy "always go to this option" type playstyle) isn't going to change what the game is at it's base. But atleast with Brawl you've got tons of characters that can compete, and most importantly, the vast majority of people will still play it. MLG with have Brawl I imagine, not melee. The general public will be interested in Brawl. General public means $$ at tourneys. There's really no reason not to move on.
So yeah, that's my 2 cents.
Malk: I was never knocking the people that don't even post here, but moreso the thread in it's current condition and the people posting here. It's all this elitist BS that's been grinding on my nerves every time I come in here. Some people genuinely want to play brawl and enjoy the game, and I think that's something that should be respected and not get **** on anytime anyone posts about it. Overall this thread lacks a great deal of maturity that I see in other fighting game communities and it's frustrating as **** because I'd really love to see the NC Brawl community take off. I don't really know about the smash gatherings you do or whatever, I wouldn't feel welcome anyway since I'm not part of the elitist crew in here. I'm sure I'll run into you eventually and we can play if you ever get into Brawl, but otherwise, there's plenty of other venues of competition for me. I won't say if I'd beat you or not because honestly, I haven't played you enough in the past to make that assumption, and it would be rude of me to do so, but I'm sure I wouldn't have any problem with it were we ever to play.
But anyway, in summary, don't hate on Brawl so much people. give it an honest shot. If you still don't like it, that's fine. Just leave the people that like the game alone.
