OK, so this thread serves two purposes.

One, to help people find smash players in their area/state.
Two, to discuss new NC tourneys and upcoming events.

To be added to the player list simply post:

1) name/tag/nickname (you only have to include one)
2) location in NC (aka what town do you live in or what cities are close to you)
3)AIM s/n or e-mail address (optional of course, but this will help you get to know people/set up dates to play)

So I think that covers everything. I will be updating this thread as it needs to be updated in a timely maner. Thanks for your cooperation in advance

I added a location map-ish kinda thing after each city. It should help give people a better understanding of where people are actually at in the state. I named three "central" cities, as these are the ones everyone should know and where the most people smash in that area of the state. Your best bet for tourneys / friendly smashfests is around these three cities.

Also for an update on the smash tournament that is happening on campus at ASU on the 27th, we haven't made any decisions, because the person leading it doesn't know what to do. He wants to try to run it as either double elim with single rounds or single elim with double rounds, thinking that if we do single/single that it would piss a lot of people off. Thing is that with our time frame of starting around 5 or 6 and having to finish at 11 at the latest it doesn't really help much (I blame bad planning). But as far as I know we don't really have a limit on the number of players since it will piss people off if they sign up and find out they can't play. Malk, if you have any suggestions, I will gladly take them and talk with the guy running it. If you guys have any questions pertaining to the LAN or tournament on the 27th, just PM me or IM me.

Just do double elimination with double rounds. If you only do singles (no teams) it will be over by 11. You just have to run it well. Make a 2 minute timer to your next match, if you miss it there's a penalty.

just do what malk says one match rounds arent rounds thats what happens when you have to give up your controller, (of course you dont have to give it up if your are #1) but sersly unless you are planning on having 50 bajillion people there one match double elim is way too short. 2-3 Double elim is works fine always unless you **** around for long periods of time.

Well, the last LAN was a giant mess as far as organization was concerned and some people want to avoid that(we have set up the next one to avoid the same problems), but I'll be sure to pass on what Malk said to the guy coordinating it. I think his only gripe is going to be that we were planning on the worst scenario to happen that every game in a match goes to time (6m with 4 stocks, unlikely but it can happen) which would result in almost 20 minutes a match and causing the tournament to run a ridiculous amount of time.

Even if every match takes 2/3 AND max time limit, you're looking at ~40 minute rounds. from 6pm to 11pm that's still 6.5ish rounds rounds which will take you from 64-32-16-8-4-2-finals

Just make sure no one is late to their matches, and people only play tourney matches on available TVs, and it will turn out much better (with no one griping about Lozr in their bracket). Use a tournament maker software to speed things up. Pac or myself can help with that, not that it isn't extremely simple.

Malk that's assuming that you have a tv for every match of every round. Not likely. He'll likely only have time for that if he has 32 or fewer people. Also don't forget that loser's bracket is twice as long as winner's, and I don't care how good at running tourneys you are, people will still sneak in friendlies and slow you down a little bit. I think he'd be best off going 3 stock 6 minute matches, best of 3, double elim, preferably with a 32 man bracket. Time could still be tight, but not super restrictively so.

Advice: USE THE 3RD TV FOR THE TOURNEY THEN ROB A PAWN SHOP . Running a fair sized tournament on 2 tv s will be just a wee bit hard. k? k.
