Legend of Zelda The Name of Your Link

Yep, I wonder, how do you name Link in Zelda games? cause I didn't left his default name the first time I played each one... and it's usually Kei, only a few times I used his default name, just because that's the way it's meant to be right? lol

and the why, it's because that's my Smash Tag, and the name of a character I made(yeah, I am an RPG freak, can't help it)

SO, do you put a different name or you name him Link?
and why?

I used to put my real name when I was younger, which is Travis, simply because I thought it was cool to see my own name being said in a game. Now though, such as with Twilight Princess, I have always put Link and Epona, simply because I like to keep it "real" I guess. The only reason I would ever really change it now is if there were other people playing on the same game as me, such as my brother. Then I would want to show possession of my own profile, in which case I would probably use my name. He doesn't really play anymore though, so it remains Link.

yeah, most people I know leave it at "Link", just to feel it like a real game, but honestly I don't feel the same playing as my tag as playing as just "Link", don't know, maybe it's just me being crazy xP... in the other hand, in TP I left Epona name as default, because if I had a Horse I would call it Epona xD... but once I named her Eponyta I think lol

When I was young (and this was with every game that let me input the name of the protagonist) I just used my real name. I liked it because it made me feel like I was the hero, but these days I just use "Ark" instead (only if the character's personality is up to you or they're mutes).

I use Thimo and Link in random order. I usually do stuff like 3 heart challenges with my name, just to show it's me, and not someone else. But for first playthroughs I use Link.

Most of the time I use to name him Link to feel like I'm playing the real hero.

However, a friend of mine use to name him with some bad words, to make the game's dialogues funny.

When I was a kid I always named him Ron. I have absolutely no clue why. I don't even like the name that much.

Nowadays I always name my characters either Boo or guy. I like doing guy because it makes it look like nobody knows your name and just refers to you as "a guy".

long time ago, when i was playing OoT, i created a file with the name Zelda.
When i arrived to the first time you talk with Zelda in the castle, she said something like:

Zelda : I am Zelda, princess of Hyrule, What is your name?

I : ....

Zelda : ... Zelda!, starnge, that name sound familiar

He isn't Link until you name him that.

It's different from Final Fantasy games where they already have a default name put in there.

While that may be true, his name is Link in Super Smash Bros and in the minds of virtually everyone who knows who he is and doesn't call him Zelda out of ignorance. He is Link.

However, he is also not Link. Never is the name Link spoken of in in-game stories. He is always referred to as "the hero".

That's probably my biggest pet peeve about the Zelda games is when people call Link Zelda. I can see how that mistake can happen, but that's besides the point, lol.

In the Zelda's story his name is Link (refering to the old cartoon), but as you said, not in the game's story line.

If you name him ZELDA in Legend of Zelda it immediately starts you off on the 2nd Quest!

and if you name him ZELDA in Link's Awakening the music is different in areas.

Back when I was weird, I called him all sorts of things that ended with "maid." First was Mr. Maid, then MegaMaid (also Spaceballs reference)... I don't remember in order the next few, but there was Dr. Maid, FoxyMaid, and others as well.

Nowadays, I just call him Link or Sly Fox... and wonder what I was smoking to call him maid.

I usually name him Baboon. I started doing that on Zelda II, and he's been Baboon pretty much ever since.
