Bring Me The Horizon hasn't been good since Count Your Blessings, and even then they were rather average, I just enjoyed Oli's old screams.

BMTH - Pray For Plagues

A Day To Remember is pretty good, but they're not metal at all, so idk how that came into here lol.

Man, NEVER any good metal bands come to State College. The closest we got to heavy was Disturbed 2 years ago UGH. What I'd give to see even a ****ty metal show.

Also, Homefront Soundtrack LEGIT.

Periphery - One (Metallica Cover)

Idc if this cover was rushed, it sounds pretty sick.

The Parallax Hypersleep Dialogues is the only thing I'm super hyped up for right now. April 12th.
I dunno when Opeth's new album is supposed to be arriving, they were allegedly doing recording in January, they just haven't scheduled a release date yet.

Regardless, this is going to be a sweet year in music for me.

I mean I guess it's fine to post ADTR in here but I can 't think of many more bands who are less metal.
cool story bro

WHOA WHOA WHOA. Miss understandings here. (i'm not claiming to be always right but here's what I think.)

ADTR is not metalcore. They are like hardcore/punk. They might have a couple breakdowns but they aren't metalcore.

That's sick

Since Deathcore is mentioned, I like would to state my nomination of Animosity and the Red Chord for the God Tier Deathcore bands.

I can't leave Metalcore out. I don't many Metalcore bands that fall into the Metal spectrum, but I do have this.

Behold! Johnny Truant

Okay Animosity is a sweet band but they are not deathcore, they are death metal. No Metalcore breakdowns in there. And Johnny Truant sounds more like hardcore or just thrash. It's not metalcore either. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aekRgV9PFv0 Epitome of Metalcore.

Okay. So, naggling about what is or what is not metal/death/core/crabgaze is pretty boring conversation.

Even though the title simply says "Metal", we don't have to debate everything that isn't exactly metal.

yeah ok, I know I was just doing that earlier with ADTR, but that was mostly because I wanted to make fun of ADTR. They're allowed here (mostly because I expect a punk/hardcore thread will be even slower than this one) even if they make pretty limp-wristed flaccid music XD

So yeah. Anything remotely heavy can go in this thread, as well as metal music that isn't heavy. Hell, the vast majority of the stuff I talk about is more in the noise/mathcore/posthardcore genre than metal or metalcore.

even this song counts!

Hey guys!

I just wanted to share that my band has just released a new (demo version) song called "The Dark Cloud" and anyone wants to check it (and our other music) out go to:

www.myspace.com/halloflor!

@Luigitoilet

the word rock is so much more accepted than metal. It makes me sad when people hear metal and assume its like really bad core. (not saying that all core is bad)

Nah, I disagree. I view Metalcore & Deathcore to have a wider spectrum of characteristics. But, we shouldn't let our ideas of what Genere X get in the way of talking about this great music. :bee:

Holy ****. Amon Amarth covering SOAD? That is awesome. SOAD's version is 100x better though.

SOAD will always be close to my heart because they are one of the first bands that got me into heavier music. They are pretty damn heavy as far as mainstream acts go.

Mesmerize/Hypnotize sucks though.

Toxicity and Steal This Album! are both amazing. The self-titled is insane.

I totally agree with you LT. SOAD is one of the reasons I got into metal too. It put a smile on my face when I heard Amon Amarth's cover, even if it just seems like they were being silly lol

I mostly listened to random post-hardcore/scene music until I encountered Darkest Hour, BTBAM, Bury Your Dead, and Sinai Beach on a bonus dvd for a Hawthorne Heights cd. Words cannot describe how ashamed I am of this even though it was back in 6th grade (7 years ago), young ignorance i suppose. ANYWAY, that along with finding heavier related bands through MySpace (the ONLY thing that Fonz-forsaken site is good for is locating related music) got me further into metal.

And yes, I owned Hybrid Theory. :bee:

lol Metal entry stories

I remember loving the living poop out of Linkin Park and other Nu-Metal joints.

Then, I tried Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Kyuss. :D

Man i'm so bummed that Born of Osiris isn't touring Canada anymore. Speaking of that show has anyone heard of Texas in July or Set Your Goals? I could look them up myself but i'm lazy/want to create discussion.

EP sounds like a step down from The Great Misdirect to me... I like the Lunar Wilderness song though, it was something different for them

I was disappointed with Great Misdirect. I think this one is a step in a better direction.

But still, I'm getting tired of their 10 minute plus songs. It's cool and epic but they used to be able just as cool and epic in half of the timespan.

small library rite nao. I had a zune for a long time so I stopped using my PC/Laptop and thus stopped scrobbling, plus I reset my previous profile since it had a lot of stuff i stopped listening to like norther/children of bodom/ensiferum/etc.

i mostly listen to power metal, and prog metal but I'm down for anything that isn't thrash metal. thrash sucks.
