Haha I don't know if you guys like power metal but Nightwish is my favourite band with a female singer. She sings opera over 80's metal riffs, pretty much. Actaully the way I found them was through a BBrawl trailer.

Tarja is pretty good, their new singer is awful. Nightwish is whipped by their record deal. Markko should be the lead singer.
Nightwish sorta reminds me of Soundwitch and Lightbringer, more so Lightbringer, but all are power metal. In the lead singer aspect I mean. Although the lead singer in Nightwish has a much softer tone than the lead singer in Lightbringer.
Lightbringer - Diamond
Soundwitch - Without
She sounds weird because she's trying to sing in English.
Grrr, I hate when people say "Deathnote" and don't care to know the actual BAND behind the anime.Right at the beginning of the Lightbringer one I thought of Deathnote because of the bass. Kinda funny how I relate two Japanese bass tones.
Oh thanks so much. I was wondering wtf that music was, it sounds a lot like System of a Down but I knew it wasn't. Gonna go listen to them now.Grrr, I hate when people say "Deathnote" and don't care to know the actual BAND behind the anime.
The band that made the second Season beginning and ending was Maximum the Hormone (My favorite band BTW)
The first season was some garbage Visual Kei band called Nightmare.
KNOW THE MUSIC BEHIND THE ANIME. Thank you
Wow with pth, boo, and Amon Amarth that's three leaks. Good thing/too bad Sumerian took it down.Devin Townsend is really really awesome.
anyone like Born of Osiris? Their newest album leaked a couple days ago. It's pretty good! There are so many keyboard/synth interludes even compared to their older stuff.

I friggin HATE that term. "djent". I also don't understand how it is any different from progressive metal/metalcore. just because you use slightly different amp settings doesn't warrant an entirely new genreBorn of Osiris is pretty sweet.
But right now I'm super hyped for Tesseract's first album that's coming out. They're probably my favorite new band right now. I've really been digging djent.
Okay what the hell does djent mean. Never heard of it.I friggin HATE that term. "djent". I also don't understand how it is any different from progressive metal/metalcore. just because you use slightly different amp settings doesn't warrant an entirely new genre
"djent" literally refers to the type of tone that a lot of metal/core groups use. It is this very high-gain, scooped mids type of distortion.Okay what the hell does djent mean. Never heard of it.
That's some good stuff, very diverse indeed. What puzzles me is that you joined smashboards and the first and only two posts you made were in this thread lol.I am a metal head but some say I am an elitist. I don't think I am an elitist at all because I don't argue on what is metal and what is not, I just give my opinion on the subject. Either way, I listen to what I listen to. Here is some of my favorite bands that I am currently listening too. Though I do have a diverse taste in metal, I sometimes only list what I am currently listening too on rotation. It does change every month or so.

All of those bands were great, but have asdgjkflsgjkhoah singers. I see where that term comes from. But I feel it is unnecessary to create a term that is not needed."djent" literally refers to the type of tone that a lot of metal/core groups use. It is this very high-gain, scooped mids type of distortion.
Basically, it is a verbalization of the sound of a breakdown. The type of guitar tone makes it very sharp and scrapey and makes a "djent" sound.
it is literally used to describe the tone of the guitars. outside of that, it basically means "progressive metalcore". The most popular "djent" band seems to be Periphery
