If you guys are looking for melodic metal then listen to All That Remains or Dream Theater.
I do like those bands too, especially Dream Theater, but I still like BTBAm more, sorry! From the looks of the bands u listed in your previous post, you'd probably like Darkest Hour and Sea of Treachery, both are very good thrash/metalcore.

Eh, I guess it's just my take on it, LuigiToilet. It doesn't really matter, that album is still kickin' anyway. I'm also pleased at the difference in styles throughout the album, it really makes every song a new experience, and it works very well.

Who remembers this song?Lol what a jump modern metal has made since the early 90's lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-INDKm-MdWY

Who's BTBAM?
It's cool man.
And I'll look into those bands.
Anyone here ever heard of Impending Doom?
They are pretty groovy.

BTBAM= Between the Buried and Me. They are total maestros. They are a lot like Dream Theater but a lot heavier and more variety in the vocals, and just about everything.

This thread has a lot of good bands is you should maybe read it and listen to some of them!

I have heard them just didn't know who they were talking about because of the BTBA thing.
I've probably heard most of the bands on here though.
Anyone like Darkest Hour?

I've been a huge fan of Darkest Hour ever since I heard the song "Oklahoma" and I saw the video for it. Definitely one of the best metalcore bands out there. My fave songs are probably "The Misinformation Age" and "A Paradox With Flies".

I've heard of Impending Doom, but I've never bothered to take a listen, I think I'll have to one of these days.

Are there any fans of A Hero A Fake? I've been listening to them for about a year now and I've been very impressed.

Yeah, I know what u mean, it's not a metal style scream, but I like how it fits in with their sound. Eh, just my opinion, I still listen to hardcore and screamo stuff.

Lucky you Luigitoilet, I can never afford to go see anybody lol. Hope that goes well for ya!

Veil Of Maya is definetely an amazing band, I was just introduced to them yesterday.
They have one of the most rhythmatic riffs and breakdowns that I have ever heard of a Metalcore band, IMO.

My Geometry teacher introduced me to them :)

This band is pretty okay. I like the more melodic parts, but the breakdowns seem pretty generic and predictable. They seem like the weakest part of the gig. Maybe I'm listening to the wrong songs though! What are some good songs by them?

Probably some of my personal favorites would be "Its torn away", "Its not safe to swim today" and"A thousand Alive" from their older album

There my personal favorite so they may not be your cup of tea

Anyways, anyone heard of The Red Shore?

Im in love with this song right now

Well, the show was awesome and BTBAM was soul melting.

There were three local bands and they all sort of sucked, then Animals as Leaders came on and shredded my face off (seeing that suave black dude do 8-string sweeps constantly made me pretty envious). Veil of Maya was okay, I liked the vocals but nothing else really stood out. They got the crowd really riled up so it was fun anyways (except for the goddam hardcore dancers. so many of them inJacksonville.)

I couldn't tell you what songs those two bands played. I know Veil of Maya played "It's Not Safe to Swim Today" and Animals as Leaders played a song that was introduced as being about "how we process cattle", hahaha.

However, I really only went for BTBAM and it was worth every second of waiting. Only disappointment was that they had the local bands taking up time, so BTBAM and the other headliners couldn't add more songs to their sets

BTBAM's set:
Autodidact
Disease, Injury, Madness
Fossil Genera: A Feed from Cloud Mountain
Shevanel Cut a Flip
Informal Gluttony
Sun of Nothing
Mordecai

So, freakin awesome set. Shevanel Cut a Flip was probably the most intense, as the whole floor got really into it and a bunch of people landed on top of me during the breakdown.

No, actually, Mordecai was even more insane. A spiritual experience.

Yeah I'm going to the concert tomorrow it's gonna be amazing! I'm more into Animals as leaders then Between the buried and me all my friends are more for BTBAM tho anyway it'll be really fun. hoping to do something else when Veil of Maya comes on I really dont like them.

I don't want to get into the Mosh but I feel like somebody is gonna hit me and piss me off I'm 6'8 200 pounds so they better **** off that **** is annoying but for some reason I feel like that will give the drunks even more a reason to mess with me

There is also a Megadeth Concert on November 28th @ The House of Blues Myrtle Beach SC and I really want to go to that but I cant :(

This not having to do with concerts I'm really starting to get into Protest the Hero this is my favorite song of the album Fortress they are just really amazing.

I hate hardcore dancers. I love regular moshing/circle pits/ crowd surfing and all that good stuff though. hardcore dancing is for fools. luckily, Animals and BTBAM are hard to hardcore dance to.

Veil of Maya is pretty much all breakdowns so the pit was really gay.

Didn't expect Fossil Genera to be in the setlist. Good to hear it was a great show.

GreenFox, Protest The Hero is definitely good stuff, tho I prefer the older, more punk-style sound. I am glad they cleaned up the music a bit on Fortress though, and it was very good, but I still prefer Kezia over it. Fave songs by them are "Blindfolds Aside", "Heretics and Killers", "Bloodmeat", and "Palms Read".

Concert

So the concert to be honest wasnt that good I got there 45 minutes after the doors opened and still had to wait 30 minutes to listen to a band that was pretty bad then they said Animals as leaders wasn't going to be there that there van had broken down which is pretty much the only reason I went there then n I sat through Veil which was pretty bad I must admit nothing stands out about them to me and then finally BTBAM came on and it was pretty good but overall the concert disappointed me I waited along time in a run down bar to see a bunch of bands that I really didn't care much for I guess BTBAM was pretty good though :/

Protest The Hero
Yeah my favorite songs are Sequoia Throne, Blindfolds Aside, and Blood meat I like both albums about equally so far but Ive listened to Fortress more I wonder when they are going to play anywhere on the eastern part of the U.S. I want to see them bad.

Oh wow that sucks hard. Any reason they didn't show up?

I felt the same way about btbam. Since they were last, and there were five bands before them I got pretty annoyed and tired of waiting to see the one band I went to see. but at least I got to see them! That's too bad

I heard that there van broke down which is just a rumour but I think the real reason was it was the last concert in the tour and they just didn't feel like going but yeah I had fun but I was disappointed I really wanted to see AAL but BTBAM was pretty good to so it was better than staying at home

/hates listening to crappy local bands for hours on in why'll moping about not seeing Animals

Ants of the Sky from Colors has some similar southern-style riffs and breakdowns, and also a bluegrass interlude.

You might wanna check out their older stuff (when every member was different except the vocals and lead guitar). It's not quite as progressive but it's still really unique (or was at the time it came out :p) and complex as hell. Colors is still my favorite overall though

They couldn't really do anything shorter. The only songs on their new album under 6 minutes are ballads, and hardly sound like BTBAM at all!

related, here is Blake Richardson tracking the drums to Obfuscation

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snGxAUBMZHY&channel=btbamofficial

Blake's one of my favorite drummers. He's more about groove than constant double bass or blast beats. Look/listen how in tune he is with the bass and everything else during the guitar solo.

EDIT: Oh yeah. I used to slay with Luigi when Brawl was newer. I haven't played super often lately but Luigi's still my no.1. He's a lot better than he was in Melee.

bumping this thread for two reasons

One: Merry Christmas! here's a festive song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Eth...02B2470D&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=19

Two: For the most part, bands that come from FL suck balls. But there is a local band, Malak, who are friggin awesome and chill guys. They are really technical/prog/deathmetal and way better than any other heavy FL band I can think of. They are unsigned, unfortunately, and almost broke up but they've made a comeback apparently and are touring! Check em out if you like anything tech-y and experimental. and really heavy of course/

Favorite Metal Bands

Animals as Leaders
Killswitch Engage
Twisted Sister (Very selective "I Wanna Rock" is their best song)
Quiet Riot "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)
Protest The Hero

Also, I noticed this forum lacks in Shadows Fall.

I recommend "Eye of the Storm" as their favorite song.

Killswitch Engage is probably one of my most favorite metalcore bands, besides from Parkway Drive =) and you win since that song is my favorite from As Daylight Dies album =D

Bands there is a disgusting lack of in this thread.

Cynic - prog metal, and the earlier stuff (Focus and demos) had some death metal in there. Traced in Air is a beautiful album. As a follow up to Focus after 15 years, it was a change in direction from a more chaotic sound, but track like Integral Birth ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNGCJzPzAp0 ) and Nunc Stans (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaioYJjq6a0&feature=related ) are breath taking.

Anaal Nathrakh - black metal. Insane stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6349Q-67eA

The Angelic Process - drone/doom metal. Again, truly breathtakingly beautiful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYtQe2XjkQs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfBd7J75L9c

Amorphis - hard to place, metal just sums it up. Skyforger does not have a track which isn't awesome on it, which is a rare feat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tf-9MVv_iWo&feature=related

Behemoth - Blackened death metal. Speaks for itself really. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHhZ2LThpv4

Blind Guardian - power metal. They just destroy the rest of their genre. Nothing else is close to their epicness, or the complexity of an album like A Nigh At The Opera.

Immortal - black metal. Good black metal without being completely up themselves about being "tr00" and "cvlt". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHSfRpyaIcI

Mastodon - sludge/prog metal. Have tended towards prog recently, but Crack The Skye was just one of those phenomenal albums. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6Vf5syTfmE

Ne Obliviscaris - prog black metal. I've heard them described as the Cynic of black metal, and it's pretty accurate. Only have a demo out at the moment, but are currently recording an album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J7wt2DSQXo

Necrophagist - technical death metal. Just **** good. A bit mechanical, but some seriously sick guitar work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SRD6mjrUMo

Nile -technical death metal. Egyptian themed, incredibly heavy death metal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpLZi4UrDcA

Opeth - prog death metal. Because there is never enough Opeth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmByeB7y5aw

Pleurisy - death metal. Just plain good stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QsRN32PaTM&feature=channel_page

Satan - NWOBHM. Massively overlooked band from their era. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74Nei5Axde4

Shrinebuilder - doom metal. A supergroup that has just released it's first album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MOvk-dNLRY

SikTh - prog metal. Verk weird, but very awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARTvoqqn8U8

Sleep - stoner doom. Fuzzed out goodness. Not quite as good as Electric Wizard, but dopesmoker (an hour long song) is a journey in itself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOpidgBVa5s

Symphony X - symphonic progressive metal. Can be awesome apparently. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUn4jXZko5E

Wintersun - folk metal. Just one of those bands out of nowhere who produced a masterpiece first time around. The second album (time) is ironically taking ages to be made, but could very well be worth it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxMkIm5JxkM

Bit of an epic post, but I think most of those are well worth checking out no matter what you prefer as it stands.

I'll take your Blind Guardian and raise you one Stratovarius.
Quite good actually, never heard of them before. Seem much more stereotypical power metal though (palm muted verses, ringing chords for the chorus and then a solo.
How about prog metal, silly goose.
Or, more accurately, symphonic prog, As this is clearly of massive importance, despite most bands drawing from several subgenres, I shall correct it. :)
