Yes I enjoy this.

And Sunn 0))) is a massage for the ears. No it's not music.
I saw this band open up for BTBAM once. Their whole set, I was like "well this is a pretty interesting intro...". Very talented guys but the music just gave me a migraine.

Also, my favorite female metal vocalist is definitely Krysta from IWRESTLEDABEARONCE:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OsOzrApkvA

She sounds perfect live (except her clean singing is horrible and offkey a lot)

She's definitely the highlight of the band (her harsh vocals, not so much her clean singing), but the whole band is pretty good and fun to listen to if you don't take your music too seriously like some of you people do.

i thought that was iwerestledabearonce was more screamo....still amazingly good and even better live plus the band just has a great name and funny song titles you have to love the sense of humor lol i think her clean vocals are fine not my favorite band in the world but you have to love them

Some more female vocalists
Walls of Jericho http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_jL2YJYvlU growls are iffy on this song though

Straight line stitch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRrfLMOGMrM Everything about this band us just bold....I love them Alexis has both good harsh vocals and surprisingly decent clean vocals

In This Moment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAo3Nefox2w I saw these guys at warped tour this year...no words for how amazing they were im glad i went to see them on of my favorite bands of the evening

UNSUN: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LapknbGS7Os&feature=channel
Kind of lke the metal version of shakira...her accents very thick but shes extremely talented once you get past her accent you might like them...though maybe it would be better if she sang in polish?

Really good band from my home town. I don't even know how to describe them except they are prog death/doom without the cheesiness of prog. I really like the song NorthWitch, but there new stuff isn't nearly as good as their old stuff.

They have a wide range between really brutal death metal/atonality and good melodic passages with a lot of emotion. Circles is more of a death metal song, their older version is basically the most brutal death metal song i have ever heard (not the version on this page tho).

Iwrestledabearonce is metal i guess, prolly falls under grindcore or something like that, but that is some really legit music, Krysta can wail like nobody's business.

August Burns Red, Lancaster's finest. Their drummer is one of the most talented in the hardcore business, the new album Constellations is a must hear for hardcore fans.

This thread needs some more IN FLAMES!!!

Scar Symmetry? I love them. Most people I've talked to loved their first two albums, but I was really into Holographic Universe. The title track is probably my favorite song in the genre. It sucks that their old vocalist left, I really liked him. Their new album was not as good as I would have hoped.

As for In Flames, the 90's are the way to go. Everyone loves Jester Race and Whoracle, but I was really digging Colony. Ordinary Story and Behind Space '99 were some of my favorite off the album. The early 2000's stuff they had was still good, but come 2006 they started sounding a little too different for me.

Opeth just is too good.

BFMV? I always preferred Trivium. Especially their album Ascendancy. Shogun was good too.

Opeth is too awesome. I'm not much of a metalhead (Opeth is pretty much as harsh as I can stand) and I normally hate growls, but none of that matters when I listen to them. What's your favourite album by them? I have to go for Still Life but Ghost Reveries is slowly catching up :3

Also, how about Riverside? Polish prog metal and their latest album Anno Domini High Definition is probably the album of the year for me. It's a very impressive release, at least.

Has anyone heard of Vangough? Anyone who likes Dream Theater might enjoy them. I personally hate the vocals in Dream Theater and I think they sound quite uninspired most of the time, but I like Vangough. Their only album so far is Manikin Parade. It has lots of keyboard use and slightly overactive drums but is overall very mellow... this is the album that got me into prog metal.

Haha Rammstein is cool. I was on vacation in Germany just a few days ago and they continuously played Rammstein in a random supermarket. It's a huuuge band in Germany really, even big enough to get played in supermarkets... Impressive o.o

I think Russia would be very interesting too... The post-war communist bloc has always interested me, I'd love to travel there more. I've been in Germany quite a few times actually (we live like 150 miles away from the border so yeah) and it's always been a blast. Especially Berlin, that city is fantastic. If you ever get the chance, go there, you won't regret it... off-topic ftw.

Rammstein, while awesome, is more like Industrial Metal, with a heavier emphasis on Industrial.

Man, I was going to mention this band. I am shocked at the lack of Louisiana and Norwegian representation in a metal topic. Both places have made HUGE contributions to the metal (particularly Death Metal) scene.

Other than IWRESTLEDABEARONCE, Louisiana has produced the following:
Eyehategod: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCPv8ZLTNtQ
Crowbar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0kl4qY9YOY&feature=related
Goatwhore: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cw9km0sOP3c
Acid Bath (one of my favorite bands, and one of their best songs): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B12xFDlB1wc

Norway has produced some great bands such as:
Mayhem(Who has literally the most metal story in the history of the world): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y84gW_5ZFKE
Emperor (song shows off their typical Cacophony sound where nothing really fits to drive this sense of discomfort): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BI4_NMxPb8 - See also this video for an awesome cover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgDop5DFtfY&feature=related
Dimmu Borgir: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9cqKafnUrk

Misc:
Obituary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8-J4hL7iDM
Behemoth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHhZ2LThpv4

I'm not really into Rammstein. I'm FAR from hating the music, but I'm just not a fan lol.

Good to see some people with good taste in this thread, I thought it was gonna be a huge bust of a thread with all screamo stuff, but this is going really well!

Luigitoilet, thank u for helping in the national cause of introducing BTBAM to the masses, it is greatly appreciated. :bee:

Now it's my turn!

BTBAM - Selkies: The Endless Obsession

BTBAM - Mordecai (one of my favorite songs of all time)

BTBAM - Foam Born B: The Decade Of Statues

EDIT: Great catch Crimson King, how could I have forgotten Dimmu Borgir!?? Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia is one of my favorite metal albums lol.

Riverside: I've actually heard of them. I checked out ADHD a little bit ago, and thought it was actually very enjoyable.

Vangough - Never heard of them before, but from the link they sounded pretty awesome. Reminded me a lot of Pain of Salvation. I was really diggin the cover art.

Rammstein: I love Rammstein.

Static-X: I really like Wisconsin Death Trip, but their other stuff didn't really compare IMO.

Mordecai is truly one of the most heartmelting songs I've ever listened to. It's the song that made me obsessed with the band. It's probably the perfect introduction to BTBAM, even now.

Blue Cheer! Now there's a band I can agree with!

Why are Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin pushed around as metal but Blue cheer is always left out? Connection with Acid?

This thread needs more Sodom (Not the city).

Nuclear Winter

Iron Fist

Agent Orange

Bombenhagel

"Along with the bands Kreator and Destruction, Sodom is considered one of the "big three" of Teutonic thrash metal. While the other two bands created a sound that would influence death metal, Sodom's music style would greatly influence many late-1980s and early-1990s black metal bands, among others."

Old school Sepultura is definitely recommended for the younger tykes. oWo

Well I agree with pretty much every on this list!

The southern sludge scene is surprisingly still alive and kicking. There is a lot of good material coming out these days from bands like:

Weedeater
Baroness
High on Fire

Other fuzzed out sludge:

Electric Wizard
Bongzilla
Acid Witch
Boris
Couldron (These guys are really unknown but really good, highly recommended)
Mammatus
Ramesses
Sleep
UFOMammut (Another big recommendation here, spaced out droney sludge from Italy. Really really great musicians here, the song Ammonia is one of the best pieces of music I have ever heard.)
Acid Witch (People hype this band a lot, pretty good)

I personally love me some Lamb Of God.
I also love Machine Head, Slayer, Pantera, Deftones, As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, Judas Priest, Testament, and All Shall Perish. I like alot of metalcore and thrash but my favorite metal genre is probably groove metal.

Just bought The Great Misdirect, though Colors is still my fave BTBAM album, this one holds a nice 2nd. It's much more melodically set up, it's more of an EP for them if anything, even though Swim To The Moon is 18 minutes long lol.

We need some more Abigail Williams up in here. Their drummer is pretty **** good, and his name is Samus, so he wins automatically in my book lol.
