i'm totally backing Martn for brawl. He was good in melee and the inclusion of marth and roy brought FE to the rest of the world. Plus, Roy was used as promotion for FE6. Since Marth's game is coming out on DS (presumably worldwide) Marth being in brawl would be great promotion.

I really wanted Lyn to be playable but thats down the drain and so i'm hoping for Black Knight to be a boss and to have a pegasus trio (maybe the sisters from FE7?) as an assist trphy.

Triangle attack... that's not too bad of an idea... I really like the idea of having the pegesus' as ATs they'd be a great addition to them!

I fully support Marth. There is absolutely no reason for him to be taken out and every reason for him to stay. Marth, Sigurd, Roy, and Ike for Brawl!

But I can't get the image file for the picture. It's not like I could just copy and past the picture.

I'm actually against marth even though he is one of my mains, he doesn't really have a place. We don't really care about him for his character. It just matters if a Fire Emblem character is in, after that I don't really care. The only reason everyone wants marth in anyways is because he is good.
No, not at all. I have always liked Marth for his character. In fact he was my first unlocked character in Melee and I have mained him ever since. Back then I had no idea of what his position on the tier was list nor did that matter.
Originally I thought he wasn't that great of a character, that never affected anything because I still thought he was cool.

Thanks.

I wonder what melee would be like if Marth sucked as a character.
Then Ken and M2K would've been revered like Taj is. Besides, a low tier character can win a tournament. Just look at this. http://youtube.com/watch?v=lcR9MLryyOY

I always liked Chipp and it's kinda cool to see someone win with him, despite being bottom tier.

Probably wouldn't have been any different to me, but thats because I'm not a competitive player. I got drawn to Marth because of his fighting style initially. I just liked it. In retrospect, it seems that quick, agile characters tend to be my favorite fighting style, since I mained Captain Falcon back in the original and Marth in Melee. (Oddly though, I had Link as a secondary in both, and while hes no DK or Bowser he is much clumsier than the other two... *shrugs*)

Whos Taj, anyway? I've read enough posts by competitive players to know who Ken and M2K (short for Mewtwoking, right?) are, but never run across mention of him/her.

And yeah, Like Okysho, no idea what that video is of. Whatever it is though, those were some close fights, so it was fun to watch.

Oh, and for anyone still wondering about that supposed info from the Prima Guide writer that said Marth and Roy were out, Chronobound pretty much tears it apart in the Roy thread [post=3498476]here[/post]. The most compelling reason he gives is one I'm surprised I missed - that if this guy were really writing the official Prima Guide to Brawl, he'd undoubtedly be under an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) with regards to the game's content, which means a leak like this would cost him his job and probably net him a lawsuit from Nintendo (particularly since the site it comes from advertised his identity so blatantly). Nobody in that kind of position is going to be that stupid. So yeah, safe to say that rumor is busted.

It is not just that, Just the fact that he said that they were "replaced by Ike and Lyn(which is assist trophy)" ,I mean seriously, who in their right mind would believe that a playable character is replaced by an Assist Trophy ???

Guilty Gear XX is a competatively played Xbox game. That was just a match of a professional player actually winning a large scale tournament with the worst character in the game. I thought it was kinda neat.

Taj is the best Mewtwo player in the world.

That vid is just a popular competative game in Japan. It's also said to be more technical than smash (a lot of games are actually.) It's pretty popular over here too.

Indeed... I hate it when people put up stuff like that and it's incredably misinformed... I swear FE has got to be one of the most misunderstood series for brawl in terms of characters...
:chuckle: that's true, I wonder how many on which characters will be in Brawl for this series. I think Marth is likely, but for the last spot idk if Sakurai will choose someone original (no sword user) or will go with Roy, or something.

oh cool! wait a sec... he's a mewtwo user... what does that have to do with Marth?
Nothing, it was just a tangent. I was just wondering what it would be like if Marth was low tier. Then people would treat M2K and Ken like heroes for using a low tier like they do for Taj right now.

just to clear up, Guilty Gear XX Slash (the video you showed) is for PS2. #reload (read as "sharp reload") is the one for Xbox (and PC, which I have by the way :D)... also, I was under the impression that Chipp was one of the higher tier characters... must be thinking of another version of the game...

but yeah, Marth for Brawl...

Strange, I read somewhere that Chipp was one of the worst characters in the game because of his pitiful HP and his sub-par range. One combo string can take over half of his help. Maybe he's just the worst in GGXX Slash, 'cause I've heard that the Xbox one gets patches every now and then that help with character balance. Does the PS2 get these patches, too?

considering how close we are to getting a new character update (since those two months of delay time are almost up) I'm only really focused on returning vets before we get into any more newcomers... except maybe 3rd party

Aye, that'd be nice all right. We know plenty of newcomers already (really, I'm surprised Sakurai was so free with them for so long there - I expected them to be a rarity interspersed among more common veteran updates), but barely half of the expected returning veterans. It'd be nice to get started on the remaining veterans soon, since everyone is wondering who is returning and who has been cut, then go back to a newcomer or two in the last weeks before the release (I imagine that, if Mega Man is in, he'll be revealed just before the release to send hype back up into the stratosphere, since they played the Sonic card with the delay's announcement).

Of course, the first ones we'd get are probably the big "duh" ones (Captain Falcon, Luigi, Ganondorf), but we need to start somewhere eh?

I just hope that Marth gets a DOJO!! update when he's revealed, I think it'd just be so much more satisfying then buying the game and seeing him in there ^^ Either way works wonderfully though. And wow...this thread has grown quite a bit since I've last posted, congrats to everyone who's keeping it up to date! And as a proud Marth player, I'm glad that my 200th post could be in this thread *sniff* Here's to Marth's return in Brawl!

If I see Marth on the dojo, I'll forgive Sakurai for all the crappy updates he gave us during the two month delay. I'll even forgive him for the delay! just bring back my main!
I personally won't forgive him until I see how badass Marth's final smash is.
Though I will disable the time bomb I've placed inside his brain.

Eh, I'm already over the delay and the crappy updates myself. The delay just means they make the game even better (and as delays go it wasn't even that long anyway - compared to Twilight Princess, for instance, it was entirely bearable), and the updates are just a side-effect of it. We're still getting good ones every now and then too (stage creator = best non-newcomer update ever, return of Hyrule Temple = best possible stage update), so its not like the past two months have been a total loss there. If the updates pick back up as we near the release (and given they'll want hype as high as possible before then I fully expect they will) then I'll be perfectly happy.

True enough, but I mean you can't deny that he's starting to get REALLY desperate I mean come on... the options mode?

Fact - that and the widescreen update certainly show just how much hes groping for filler. Still, I think that may also mean hes running out of filler updates (surely he wouldn't use horrible ones that those unless they were a last resort, right?), which would mean the good ones should start again soon enough.

Or maybe I'm just too optimistic at the moment since my classes are finally out and Christmas is just around the corner. Eh, I'll take either. :)

The thing about that actually, is that the delay time is pretty much up. I think both the dojo watchers AND Sakurai himself will be pretty relieved to have it over too, I personally think he had his updates previously planned out (or at least had a general idea of when certain things would be released) so it might even be a bigger relief for Sakurai more than for us since now he can get everything back on track soon. (withing the next few weeks methinks)

well, I could only find the most recent games tier list (Guilty Gear Accent Core). it's off Dustloop Forums, which is basically the Smashboards of Guilty Gear, so I would say it's pretty reliable.
S: Testament, Eddie, Slayer
A: Baiken, Potemkin, Jam, May, Millia
B: Axl, A.B.A, Zappa, Robo-Ky, Order-Sol, Faust, Venom
C: Sol, Ky, Dizzy, Chipp, I-no
D: Anji, Bridget, Johnny

as you can see, Chipp is C Rank. thats pretty low, but not the worst character... either way, I guess I was wrong when I said he was one of the better ones...

and I didn't know about the balance patches... the PS2 version doesn't get them, I know that. the newest one is on Wii; so, technically, it could get balance patches if the makers really wanted to do the work.

Sakurai watching tournament videos: oh Shi... marth is too good.

he hasnt been announced as a veteran yet and don't you think he would have been announced b4 december 3rd? the original release date?

Ike is the new age of Marth, why? well are they really going to have 2 blue haired, japanese, swordsmen, that are both from the same game sereis?? no, i don't think so anymore.

I personally am fine with marth, and i know the if he was in he'd be balanced, or they might even over compensate and nerf him to hell like they did with Kirby in melee.

but sorry marth fans, i think its a safe bet to start looking for a new main (or you could just keep on playing melee rofl)

Given the way the updates have been going, I doubt it. In case you haven't noticed, none of the veterans who were ever unlockable have been updated yet. Does that mean Luigi is out? Ganondorf? Captain Falcon? If you said "yes" to any of those, I'd suggest you just don't reply.

By the look of things, all of the newcomers save the third-parties are starters - if King Dedede and Lucas are involved in some of the first ten event matches, I see no reason to doubt that. Given that and the utter lack of character updates for so long, it seems pretty likely to me that Sakurai intends to once again leave unlockable characters off the Dojo until after the release. Which would of course mean Marth, along with many other veterans, won't be updated until after then.

Corax The Cold said:

They absolutely will, considering the two are the two best representatives for their series. What they look like makes no difference - if it did, we wouldn't have Jigglypuff and Kirby both. They're not Japanese, they're European (even though the games are produced in Japan, the worlds they're set in are based on Medieval Europe), but in any event that too is a superficial, meaningless matter. Theres obviously plenty of room for swordsmen in the game, since we're getting more new ones in Brawl than ever before (Pit, Metaknight, and Ike all announced, Ganondorf is expected to have a sword, Link is back, and several other swordsmen are highly anticipated). And if you look at Melee, there were two swordsmen from Fire Emblem in then too, so no issue there.

Really, there is absolutely no reason Ike and Marth could not both be in. They do not play the same even though Sakurai could easily have designed Ike so that they did, they both have much to recommend them as Fire Emblem representatives for SSB (more than any other FE characters have), and they don't even look the same if you'd just look past their hair color. Please, read the first post, as it debunks this entire foolish argument about Ike, as well as many others.

I concede that he's apparently not the worst character.

Susumu was still amazing with him.

Yeah, the Xbox version gets patches. I know that they improved Chipp's power so that he could actually kill stuff, and gave him slightly more health.

Oh, and Corax The Cold just got owned by logic.

That has to be one of the stupidest arguments I've ever seen.

If you actually knew anything about Marth and Ike in the Smash series, you would know that they are very and I repeat VERY different from each other.

Ike can't and won't replace Marth.
