you have no idea. Now we just need some weegee dedication.
No, you have no idea. Like, this discovery just increased Luigi's damage output and it will definitely make some match-ups less annoying. I just need to have someone factor in the things that I can't do with 1 controller and a Lv9 CPU set to "Run". The reason it's set to Lv9 "Run" is because they are completely focused on getting away and breaking out of grabs and all that stuff. So, if they can escape it, I just write it off.

Sama, hit me up on Skype around 3.

sure I'll try to reach you. I will most likely around 4:50pm. Hmm Well this stuff better be good. One thing I think Luigi should start doing is full jab combo and be ready to see if the opponent lands and doesn't tech. Go for that fireball lock LOL. Same applies to other moves.

You never know some people just don't tech their landings.

Alrighty, so I shot a text to Boss while I was at work and asked him for a second opinion. He approves of it and I need you all (the ones with friends) to test it for me.

Yesterday morning, I was goofing around in training mode working on different approaches and possible grab stuff. I decided to try grab releases because why the **** not? Low and behold, I made a really cool discovery. Luigi can ground release several characters into Dsmash. Since Luigi himself isn't very tall, he can't air release too many characters save for the Mother boys and maybe Olimar/Kirby/Puff. So yeah, he gets guaranteed damage and better follow up potential. I am unable to test on characters with Frame 1 invincible moves because as I stated, I only have 1 controller.

So far our current victims are :rob:/:lucario:/:wario:/:charizard:/:link2:/:ivysaur:

The ones I need further testing on are :toonlink:/:gw:/:sheilda: and possibly the rest of the cast. Snake, MK, D3, DK and a few others release too far.

I would still like you to double test everyone and go through possible options of escape.

Im working on it

I ground released Wario and rob and held shield for both to buffer the shield; I buffered a Dsmash and Jab for luigi

Rob and Wario PS'd the jab, and regular shielded the Dsmash, so idk about confirmed. They ARE in range though.

Same for toon link

Bust for luigi unless im doing something wrong, but I wonder if falco plays have looked into this since his jab is frame 2
And if those 3 got those results, the whole cast should outside of DK, Ness, and Lucas iirc

Yeah I've been looking into this. It seems like another useful way to get some damage in. There is actually a thread where this is used, but you jab to pivot grab and it seems to work on characters that get stuck in hitstun for a good while. It's very hard to pull off.

I'm going to try and make it a mission to master sliding jab to dtilt *trip* to up b. It's guaranteed, but you need to know the timing for it.

That would be pretty sick.

You, get on Skype.

Wait, your Dsmashes are hitting? When I buffer shield as the victim, the Dsmash hits my shield

I guess buffering shields ruins that idea. =/

I'm trying to figure out the spacing for this fireballing technique. Once I do that, I'm gonna try it out on people. I'll keep you filled in.

I'm gonna get this greasy **** up the tier list.

Pls believe.

All isn't lost. Jab gets PS'd, so there's room for conditioning. If you buffer jab out of ground release, you'll probably hit them if they do anything but shield (except zamus, falco, and squirtle maybe)

That looks similar to how pikachu can chaingrab wario hard on the edges of thin platforms. But it looks pretty clear to me that he is in tumble, so you might not be able to get anything guaranteed, but keeping him close could work out nicely, especially if Up B is his only escape. Try it one someone fatter maybe.

That's a thing for sure. It's because edges are treated as downward slopes, and so luigi is higher than the chainee or vice versa.

I don't remember which exactly, or if that's even why it works.

But I know it works especially well on heavy peeps like Ganon.

Seems to only work on thin people though, but I guess if you were able to land aerials out of a dthrow, you could get fsmash or something now.

I also tried it on ddd, ike wario mk, sheik fox wolf, falco and captain falcon. It works on ddd if you jab to grab out of it, since he doesnt have a move fast enough to break it and jab-grab is a thing that works. It also kind of works on fox in a similar way to ddd, but i think he could probably get out of it by shining or maybe something else. It doesnt work on ike, mk or wario, and i dont remember if it works on falco or wolf
