It's from a rap song: Forever by Drake.

Anything goin down in BR this week? Anyone wanna head to Dibbz this week? I haven't missed home this much since, like, ever, and I have no idea why. I guess I'm just tired of the same ol' routine.

jiovanni, wtf is that in your signature? i just noticed it.... kirby eating someone? and that quote/sentence thing. im a little confused by it. i would greatly appreciate an explaination.
Jiovanni is his screen name, lolduh. He mains Kirby so that pic is definitely necessary.

"Last name Ever. First name Greatest." is a quote from a song Forever by Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Eminem

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqUU6nOUQ3c

Edit: Kirby EATS living things to absorb their powers. That explains the picture.

I'm not really sure what's going on this week for most of us, Justin. Although I think there's a Tiger Uppercut meeting this Thursday if you're looking to get some practice in.

Who else is watching the meteor shower tonight? That's the only reason I'm awake right now.
I am, but I've yet to see anything. Hopefully I will though, I'll wait for maybe 30-45 min more and then head to bead and wake up in like 2-3 hours, since they say it will be at it's densest point.

There is not a Tiger Uppercut meeting this week. It's next week.

- Respect the TO's and the Backroomers as well as they should respect the community, we're all working towards trying to make this game more fun for all of us.
What's the point of having this as a rule? TO's and backroom people aren't the only people in here worth respecting. It seems like the general idea is that everyone should be reasonably respectful to one another, which is basically, "No flaming." I think this rule as it elevates TOs and backroom people to a status way above where they actually are.

TOs are just smash players who want tournaments, so they host tournaments. There's nothing special there except a little initiative. Backroom people are just smashers who like talking smash and happened to catch the eye of each backroom's creator. It's a mistake to value any smasher here more than any other solely because of his status as a TO or backroom member, which is what this rule suggests with its current phrasing. Maybe you're trying to get some other point across, and in that case, I recommend rewriting that rule.

Again, this rule feels like it falls under the, "No flaming" sentiment expressed in the first rule.

Also, most of your rules fall under the global rules that are already in effect. That doesn't mean people don't need reminders, though. If you want something more official sounding, then try copying and pasting the global rules/ a link to the global rules instead.

In general, I agree with the idea that this thread has become a mess. Smashboards, as a forum, focuses primarily on competitive smash. This thread is supposed to be a place for us to organize, build, and participate in our local scene. By all means people should socialize here, but I think the main purpose is that people, especially those new to the scene, have a place where they can find things like smashfests, tournaments, and simple get-togethers. It's a smash forum, and the Louisiana thread should be a place for people to talk Louisiana smash. It's one thing to have not smash related stuff (spam) come up here and there, but when 90% of posts are not smash related, it makes it tough to to sort through the mess and find smash stuff. That's when there's a problem.

If people here really want a place to 100% socialize, then someone can make a thread in the Social forum. That's what it's there for. Or, if people want to stay in this thread and keep it more or less like it is, we could probably get this thread moved to the Social forum. Then someone who is likely to stay active in the community for a long time (Cyphus comes to mind) can make a new thread for smash stuff. We could even do like Florida and make a new account that creates and manages this thread. Several people can have the password, and active management will not depend on a single person staying active over the years. I think the latter is be better option.

By all means, I'm not being 100% serious on this. You of all people should know this. If you read that rule completely, you'd notice that I said as they should respect the rest of the community also. No one should be treated any differently, as we're all working toward the same goal that I think we've completely failed to fulfill in the past.

Yes this is a place to socialize, but when the past few weeks have been primarily senseless spam and flames towards others, then it's a problem. People have been complaining that the thread moves too fast past important posts, that there's too much drama, etc. I'm only trying to lessen that a little bit. I still like a lot of the wackiness in this thread, but let's be honest here. Good posts are often wasted here. That's why we have a calendar now. We also have 2 social groups for both Melee and Brawl. Not to mention we have tons of tournament threads and the PR thread in the Atlantic South forums. We don't need anymore. We mostly just need to focus on this one. We could move it to the social sub-forum, but I don't think that'll change anything.

And not all things have to be 100% official. That's why there are some exceptions to the rules.

And EET, you don't really do much sporadically, so just try to avoid doing that a lot at once. :chuckle:

Edit: Cyphus, I'm working on Kirby's Avalanche this week. If I see you, we should play a little bit for some fun.

I've already received an infraction. I feel like I'm in timeout, like I'm one of these little kids in here complaining about their bedtime or their parents, or the like. I've less than 1k posts in 5 years, and I'm being talked down to.

I though Tiger Uppercut was twice a month? It's been a while since I went. Remind me next week, maybe the Ice will make an appearance. How many people still go to it?

Ok, so I just got back from seasons beatings

I PLAYED DAIGO IN SF4... o.O

Im really starting to get better now...after I played him I had a moment where I was like... I get it now...

The smash community gets my props for being present, and for supporting their game...but im sorry smash might be the most un-hype game in existence. Its amazing how the community backs it though...its definitely got "staying power" as barry white would say

sfiii is dead imo. MArvel is the most hype game ever with sf4 coming close to 2nd.

Awesome trip.

I fell asleep and missed it. I'm so mad at myself.

I set my alarm from 3am but it didn't go off. :[
Same thing happened to me, except I woke up and cut the alarm off b/c I was so tired and went back to sleep. It's ok though, b/c they say it's supposed to be over a period of the next few mornings.

I almost forgot, blazblue

I consider BB in hibernation atm. the character balance and system in general need more tweaking before it can become a respectable fighter. THat said guilty gear, the other prime aksys fighter, had multiple revisions Since BB is more or less the successor to that series, it is good that they are following the same path.

BB CS should be a welcomed revision and will be significantly better than BB CT. Once Continuum shift drops...BB will be revived with new life.. the loketests have been favorable thus far...

That said, BB finals at sb were surprisingly exciting. not many nus or rachels... a lotta litchi and jin and even some bang.

OF the modern games, I will stick to ssf4 and BB CS. hopefully companies continue to maintain momentum with fighters atm and release something new every year. Capcom vs SNK 3 or a new darkstalkers would be welcomed at this point in time.

I'm in favor of creation of a new thread. Move this one to the Sub forum and create a new thread with an account that people can share. We'll be able to keep that new thread focused only on Smash, tournaments, power rankings, meet ups, and car pools.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to try that out. At least important posts could be made. Like I'm still trying to get over last week when Nites posted that link to that tournament with a guaranteed $2000 pot and then a page later Curlz posted that very same link.

reading fail?

As long as that's the primary focus on it, then go for it. I'll still post whatever info on here as well seeing as how not everyone will post often or even know about that thread unless advertised, which I assume will be handled. I can put a link to that thread on the OP. I don't think it's necessary, but I'm open to it.

Edit: I also encourage people to change their settings to 40 posts per page so you don't miss things so often here. You can do this from your User CP.

A new La. thread would probably just get locked unless we worked it out with the mods. For the sake of organization, I don't see why they would oppose moving a social thread (this one) to the social forum and let us create one that is more serious/ smash-oriented to take its place. It would probably be best to figure out what we want to do, talk to a mod, and then act on it.

Also, I'll probably go to Laffy this weekend for the PnT tournament. Anyone in BR need a ride?

I'll be going to the Laffy tourny this weekend. I want to do the new "No Tripping / Infinite Replay" rule.

Ran, can you email the codes to me or something for me to put them on my SD card?

I don't see a particular reason to add threads or move threads or change threads or whatnot. I think the new social groups and the OP calendar are sufficient for keeping things organized as far as tournament related activity, and I tend to like having one central place for community related stuff, even if atm is is a bit messy. Honestly, if a few problem individuals (not going to name names) would dial back the post count and/or antagonistic posting the problems would largely solve themselves.

Also, BR should go to the laffy tournament. NO is, and we have an hour further to drive. Man up, people.

Melee: Spacies in general and marth. Little bit of peach (probably 3-4 peach mains depending on how much chad plays now). Random sheiks here and there, with a couple sheik mains having moved here recently and me playing more sheik lately. Lots of people pull falcon out every now and then too, but I think the only people that actually play him in tournament are jackets and (occasionally) taylor. In terms of actual tournament play it's still predominantly spacies and marth though.

Brawl: Ask someone else.

Who are the most used characters in La?
got quite a few Lucarios and a couple of metaknights and a couple of marths.

aside from that it's pretty singled out.
I'd like to say Falco and Marth. But like Bomber said, its pretty singled out.

---------------------------------------------

So the guys who ran the Game Room at MechaCon asked me to host another Brawl Tournament for next year. I was thinking about making it Pure Doubles. Since it's a free tournament at an Anime Convention, alot of people will be willing to join. Doubles, imo, are more fun than singles. So since its free it won't really be a problem.

I know I have a while to think about it, but I was just wondering.

Feedback?
