I'm in the same boat as Okuser, but it's not really an overwhelming joy that it's more Brawl-oriented than Melee. It's more of a preference of what I've played competitively, since I didn't get into the Melee generation.

I really hope that we don't shoot ourselves in the foot at launch with an incredibly liberal stagelist, fueling MK's over-saturation. Since, for the past year or so, we've found really good traction with the rulelist (see Apex rules) and some characters' metagame, Brawl is like much more enjoyable. MK saturation still gets a bit annoying though lol, but that won't change until TOs make a push for it. At this point, just host w.e you want, and don't worry about the controversy. There's 6-18 months left of Brawl's life.

doesnt matter too much though. melee has proven that it will live on past new smash games until there is a reasonable next game for us to go to.

SSB4 could get cancelled :troll:

I don't want SSB4 to be Brawl 2.0, but I don't have a problem with the game being similar to it as long as they change some things.

I have my fingers crossed that another MK like character doesn't happen again. Assuming it doesn't, I think we need to start as broad as possible with the ruleset, and slowly shrink down as we discover what's broken and what's not.

I think we all just want the new smash to be a good game. I dont give a **** if it's not like brawl as long as they make improvements overall to the smash franchise.

@Sapphire: Yes. Marill, Gardevior, and Jigglypuff were confirmed Fairy along with Sylveon. Idk why Celfairy hasn't been confirmed as a fairy lol. There'll be a giant media conference dedicated to Pokemon though later tonight.
I see, very nice. I'll be looking forward to finding out Fairy's weakness. Personally I imagine Dark/Fighting and I already know it's weak to Ice due to an earlier reveal.

We need to be really aggressive if that's the case. It should not take 5 years just to get rid of Picto, PS2, Brinstar, RC, and Japes.

I think so far, it's confirmed that it is weak to Poison. The source that gave info to Pokebeach was really spot on with the stuff from E3, so Fairy will most likely be weak to Steel as well, but have like a bunch of resists.

  • Fairy will be a new type. It is weak to Poison and Steel, immune to Dragon, super effective against Dragon, Dark, and Fighting, and Fire and Psychic-type Pokemon take half damage from it.

Oh it's going to happen! Wii Fit Trainer is that character you're afraid of!

In Melee, you're capable of doing anything out of a Dash due to various mechanics. When you Dash dance, you're constantly shifting your hurtbox on your character at the press of a button. Some characters have dramatic hurtbox changes due to the speed/body orientation they have during their dash dance. Thus, you put yourself in a position where you can viably attack your opponent, while forcing them to attempt to punish you for the few frames you're in range. This was less powerful in Brawl due to the few options you had in a dash due to the lag time at the start of the dash animation, that in Melee could be canceled, and of course, tripping.

i honestly feel like speeding brawl up a hair and putting dash dancing back in would make me much more likely to play it. by having so little venues to quickly juke around and try and make your opponent wiff and attack so you can punish, camping is rewarded harshly. making me not enjoy the system.

Not to mention due to the distance of dash dancing and the ability to turn at any point during it, on top of constantly changing your positioning slightly, you can change where you're changing your positioning as well so you can slowly approach or retreat while still constantly moving your hurtbox around.

Also, in Brawl its a lot less effective due to how short the opening dash animation are (the only time you can turn around instantly and what allows dash dancing in the first place) so you don't really change where you are at all with it.

Edit: I agree with Taylor. Dash dancing not really being in Brawl is a huge sink in the fun for me. It just speeds up the whole game so much.

I don't really have high hopes for Smash 4. I still need a lot more information before I start making any decisions on it. I'm happy with what they have now (especially for Mega Man) and I hope they keep moving in the right direction for this game.

On the real, though. The 3DS version looks tight as hell.

I'll have Impulse on the family 48" TV while I'm home alone until Monday. I welcome anyone who wants to watch it with me! Also me and Gunner are probably going to stream brawl sometime soon on his twitch.tv/gunnermaniac3

Indeed, dash dancing is awesome cause its a mindgame and spacing/baiting tool. If I dash at you, you will either jump/run away, shield or attack . In any case, by using a dash dance instead of immediately approaching, Ive probably encouraged you to perform an action. And so it lets you play reactively and punish, instead of just aggressively attacking (although that method works with consistent technical play especially with high pressure chars, fox lol.) which opens up part of depth that makes melee > brawl imo.

Will Lee Martin come out of the shadows? Also, I really hope that the online won't be a laggy *****, so we can get some cross-city training nights.

I predict that the online for the WiiU version will be just like Brawl's: ass.

But the 3DS version will have good online.

Dude, that sucks Taylor. I know if anyone made off with my mtg collection or even a part of it I'd be out biiiiiiig $$$ (as well the whole time spent and enjoyment of the game and etc).

In other news, I'm 90% going to be heading over for summercon and probably spending a week or so couch-surfing around New Orleans afterwards (and maybe BR too). Just need to confirm with work that they're cool with me taking next week off. I'm not planning on crashing with smashers for the whole time, but staying with people from here for summercon would make a lot of sense. Mainly looking at you here, Ran. Or if anyone else is cool with me staying just PM me for my phone number (or ask around - my number is the same as when I used to live over there so most of the old-schoolers probably still have it). Lots of people on here can vouch for me being a reasonable guy who probably won't steal your stuff/make a mess in your place/various other bad things.

But seriously though, you should hit me up if you can house me for that weekend Ran. And Taylor/Tim/Kyle/Vaughn/etc if I decide to wander over to BR sometime later in the week. (Even if I don't crash over there we should definitely hang out. I'll bring my Catan board, Vaughn).

There's also a possibility of 1-2 additional people coming over with me for summercon who might also need housed. I'll know more about that within the next day or 2. They're cool people who I trust and most likely wouldn't be staying past the weekend as at least one of them has to be back at work on monday.

i am way more skeptical about people at the moment. it may be over reacting but seriously depressed about this and really dont want to have anyone over to my house ever. kyle lives in AZ now and tim lives with me. if its just you, im sure we can work something out. im just in a really pissy/sad mood atm. my number is the same and i assume yours is too.

Yeah, it's the same. If I head over to BR I imagine it won't be till sometime midweek next week. I'm sure I'll hit you up sometime while I'm there.

And ask Ran. The day before I left town he left his DS in my car, we searched it and couldn't find it, then as I was about to hit the road (maybe already on the road, can't remember) I stumbled on it and turned around to give it back despite having totally plausible deniability and being in the process of moving to another state. I'm pretty good about not ganking people's ****.

Speaking of Ran - call me dude. Work gave me the go-ahead to take next week off, so with any luck I should be hitting town sometime in the afternoon/evening on Friday. You're definitely #1 on the list of people I'd prefer to crash with while summercon is going on.

I may be with other people for the summercon weekend (and I don't even know if that's going to happen) but they're going to go back to where they came from after that and I'm going to hang around for the following week to do stuff. I don't imagine I'll be over to BR till sometime during that week, and by then it'll be just me.

Honestly, it may be just me in general - the other dude I was trying to get to come along may not be able to do it at all. I'll hopefully find out one way or another in the next day or 2.

Sweet. I think more likely than not it'll be just me (and if it makes a difference as far as housing goes it'll definitely be just me). Let me know when you know one way or the other.

As an aside, why is it a giant pain in the ass to post on here lately? I end up having to refresh the page a bunch and various shenanigans like that to make any posts at all. Getting a tad irritating.
