Most likely I'm going down Saturday morning or noonish, picking Jason up (or maybe TH can do that), and going to the College Park tourney. I'm planning on spending Saturday night at Jason's. You can come with me as long as you're cool with that. Oh and I guess if it's alright with Jason.

Oh btw (DQ9 nerd talk coming): I got a lvl 65 Diamond Crypt of Bliss. It's kinda like that map we got from Malcom, with great enemies and chests, but a joke boss at the end. I've only run it once so far and it has 1-3 rank 10 chests (got another stupid deft dagger :p), and a ton of potential 9s and 8s (stupid mini medals). Also has Gem Slimes and PKJs. Only downside is it's a ruins grotto, which are the most annoying to navigate. And of course being lvl 65 it doesn't give you very good maps at the end.

Doubt it. Maybe teams. I'll try to bring at least 1 extra TV for Melee though. Doesn't look like my car's gonna be full.

Whaaaaaaat? I was going to ask Jason if he wanted to go to ULTRABAR after the tourney. I mean it is the most ULTRA BAR on the face of the earth. I know Waffle was interested in going, but I'm not sure if you would or not, and I know Jason's not going to leave you in his apartment by yourself (that would be incredibly ****ed up anyway even if he did let you).

Oh well, maybe another time in that case

Though I am eager to try out that lv. 65 map. Post-tourney DQ9 is almost as good as ULTRABAR.

I'm not seeing how these things are incompatible. I'll come to the ULTRABAR. You guys need someone sober enough to make sure you get home anyway.

What's going on Jason? No new blog entries in almost a month. Is the asshattery on hiatus?

They were only incompatible insofar as I wasn't completely sure whether you or Waffle wanted to go, while I knew there was no way Jason would turn down a chance for alcohol.

But that's great! Even better than what I originally expected. We ride!

Also, do you know if GuruKid will be flying over here if he goes to MLG DC as opposed to driving? And if he is, which airport he'll be coming and leaving from? My mom has to take a plane to Bolivia for my uncle's wedding on the 16th, which is the Sunday on MLG weekend, and I have to drive her there. This could either be really convenient if he's leaving from the same airport, or very frustrating if he's not.

Or if he wants to get a ride over here then there's no issue.

I doubt very much Guru would be flying if he came down. He usually takes the el cheapo bus.

And no way in hell am I driving my truck into DC. I'd rather get lost on the metro than take that risk.

On the DQ9 front, I ran that grotto 2 more times and got a more definitive chest list: 6-7 rank 8s, 2 ranks 9s, and 2 rank 10s. Not too shabby. The PKJs alone make it better than Malcom's map. After another revo or two I'll try to get some better S rank maps.

El Cheapo Bus all day!

I'm still trying to get that weekend off; thing is, I did that about two weeks ago, so I'm not sure if they'll let me get away with it again in a short period of time...

If I do go, would I be able to receive housing from any of you cool dudes during the tournament? I promise I don't snore. :p

Allll day :).

I just learned how to moonwalk with Sonic. And moonwalk taunt cancel. YOU ARE ALL ****ED.

Also I'll team with anyone in Melee if they're willing to have our team name be "Wolf Pack Party" or "Oh you fancy huh?"

None of us play B- but we play Project M most weekends. This weekend we're bringing it to Shell Shocked, a Melee tourney in College Park.

Yo JC, is there still room for me in your truck?

And since it seems like there will be drinking that night, you'll be taking me back to the metro Saturday night?

Yes, there is room. No, I'm not taking you, because I'm not driving back up anywhere near Baltimore Saturday night. Sorry man.

I'm not familiar with the metro system in MD, but shouldn't he be able to take the Metro near Jason's to get to Owings Mills?
I know you're a bit geographically challenged so I'll enlighten you. Washington and Baltimore are in fact separate cities and their metro systems are not connected. The only way to go between them is to take an Amtrak train which is like 40 bucks or something.

So pretty much as long as he resists his innate urge to spend his money on rims, he'll be just fine .

Kaiser, if you want to go, then go for it. I'm thinking about not going anymore, so if no one else wants to go out drinking, then it shouldn't be an issue.

Ew, 40 dollars.

I need to save this money, as I won't be getting anymore until the 29th.

I'll go if JC picks me up, but I'm not shelling out that much to go someplace.

I still can't give him a ride because I'm spending the night at Jason's regardless and I'm sure there will be drinking involved.

Why are you thinking about not coming? It sounds like this one's gonna be pretty big. Sneak's buddy Nando is coming with some other tristaters.

And Jason's coming. You can't say no to that. Plus it's so close to where you live compared to the usual weekend stuff. And if you want even less driving, you can meet us at Jason's at noon and ride over with us.

Well now that I think about it, I have to come: I can moonwalk taunt cancel now :D (trust me, that's actually hard as **** to do. Sonic for more tech skill necessity than Fox/Falco). I need to let the people see my work. and ULTRABAR. And if there's going to be alcohol anyway then my sacrifice will have been in vain.

But the reason I wasn't going to go was because of...I guess something like a Smash soul searching? I think I have to make a concrete decision regarding P:M, no more of this ChuDat half-retirement inconsistency. My play suffers without practice, lots and lots of practice, but when I practice, it just makes me angry which prevents me from actually getting anywhere with said practice. So I either have to drop the game for good, or I have to suck it up and accept it for what it is, even if it's not my game, and just get good at it so I can whomp stomp on Neko's face in both P:M and Sonic Adventure 2.

But I can put that on hold for now, just for moonwalking. and ULTRABAR

Work johns, not looking good for MLG DC. I managed to get Friday off, but I got a Saturday and Sunday shift. :( Gotta see if I can give away my shifts (at the very least my Saturday one). Crying face!

TH: At the end of the day, it all comes down to whether you enjoy the game, and have a passion to get better at it. I'd love for you to stay in the scene, but if neither of those aspects apply to you, then it's best to move on.

What exactly is it about P:M that bothers you?

**** that sucks Guru, I hope you can make it.

TH, why practice? Sheeeet, I've virtually never gone out of my way to practice a smash game since I was learning to wavedash and SHFFL back in 03-04. Yeah, my tech skill is kinda garbs and I could probably do better if I did practice, but it's still fun, and that's all that matters. I'd rather play against people.

Did I give you the secret to learning how to pillar yet?

Besides, smash isn't like other fighting games. Once you get the tech skill down, there isn't much point in practicing combos. With things like DI/SDI and % affecting KB, combos are a lot more fluid and variable in smash than in other fighters. Being able to adapt and react is the most important thing, since every situation will be different.

Fun times. I hope my Yoshi was good enough. Too bad I forgot to save the match with TH. That one was probably the best. Oh well.

Daaaaaamn that video is sexy. Consecutive turnaround waveshines is something I definately want to do in a real match if only for teh sexes.

Seems like alot of those things requite an absurd about of APM though. I can't see how any non-Starcraft/non-Korean player can do that.

But that looks so awesome that I don't even care.
