Getting off work at 1 as usual. I'll probably try to get an errand or two done first before heading over to JC's place.

Just in case you guys hadn't seen it them
Red Letter Media's Star Wars Reviews
Definite must-watches if you have any interest in movie criticism, star wars, and/or why the prequels sucked. Only downside is that they're over an hour each (all three clock in at around four and a half hours).

Loved this. Watched the episode 1 review a long while ago and watched the other two reviews near the time they first came out. And technically I think it's a bit longer than an hour, but it's all worth it. Maybe it's because I hated it the most, but the Episode 1 review was my favorite by far. I really like how he broke down Qui-Gon's "let's split up" stratagem and how it logically made no sense whatsoever and did nothing besides put themselves in greater danger.

I don't think I've seen There Will Be Brawl though (or if I did, I don't remember it. The name rings a bell though). I'll check it out.

My favorite is the Episode 3 review, if only for the epic attack on Lucas' directing style itself, and how it seems designed to keep him as lazy as possible while working. But yeah I enjoy all of Red Letter Media's output to some degree. Even their weirdo indie shorts.

Heard of There Will Be Brawl, never seen it before. Looks pretty interesting thus far (love all the injokes).

Finally... Bandit... HAS COME BACK... to the internet.

Sorry I didn't make it to wings. I fell asleep after a pretty stressful week and napped for like 3 hours. The nap felt good, but it definitely was not expected.

In a side note, I kicked *** at bowling Saturday night with the baseball guys. There ain't no one who can take the Ol' Bandito in a game of bowling.

Getting White cause I don't want the codpiece legendary and I do want the eagle Pokemon. I sort of want to have access to Black City though even though White Forrest is supposed to be infinitely better.

None of that should mean anything to you though.

I'd say just pick a color out of a hat and go with it. Version choices are based primarily on the exclusive Pokemon in each version, and since that shouldn't really matter to you, then you can go with either one.

I'm not sure if I'm really up to it. After Pound V, I'm a little Smashed out. I would've taken last week off but I had to bring your TVs back. It'll only be a week's hiatus, but I think I need a bit of time off to recharge my metaphorical batteries, cause last weekend's performance was horrendous.

But in other news.

Bandit...Sheamus week 4. Stupidly walks into HHH's promo and promptly gets kicked in the nuts and then thrown around. The only redeeming factors so far is that the night is not over (but I don't think after that beating he'll be coming back) and that at least it was HHH and not Mark Henry this time. Seriously though, what was he thinking?

EDIT: LMAO! and now he has to fight his match and most likely get a second beatdown. This has not been a good 4 weeks to Sheamus. I guess the fact that the night wasn't over wasn't a good thing after all.

I at least have the Miz throwing it down for me. Most of the fans on the wrestling sites are pretty upset with the burying of Sheamus. They wanted HHH vs Sheamus for Sheamus putting HHH out for almost a year. I can't explain the past 4 weeks, but we'll see if it leads somewhere. I still think they will switch him to Smackdown after Wrestlemania. If that happens, then I can kiss my friday nights goodbye.

And also, you "retired" awhile ago not too long after I retired. You should actually try it; your mind frees up and you can pursue other things on your bucket list.

I'll try to make Graphix - it seems a little far, but I should be able to make it. I'm assuming it'd be a demo tourny?

I was actually pretty impressed with The Miz tonight. He convincingly pulled off the "annoying and arrogant" heel shtick perfectly and he had some pretty comedic moments to boot (using the phone to take a photo of Cena getting whomped).

Speaking of Cena, I think I was the most impressed with him. Now I know he's been a big star for awhile now, but when I stopped watching wrestling he was more of a mid-carder than the big money draw he is today. And I mean he was ok, he had a pretty standard power wrestling style, and his rapper gimmick was cute but he didn't really entertain me. But man, when he proverbially trounced The Miz tonight...that was hilarious. John Cena's mic skills tonight were in some ways comparable to The Rock's or Steve Austin's. Actually it really reminded me of an antic that The Rock himself would do (ironic considering their feud).

As far as retiring, I don't think retiring long-term will ever be a good idea unless I drop the game for good. If you were there last weekend, you would've seen what just 3 days of not practicing did to my tech skill. I was missing L-cancels and dropping combos all over the place.

Practicing against live opponents >>>>> any amount of tech skill practice. Just sayin :p

Yeah cmart it's a demo tourney. You can't leave any earlier than 1:30ish on Saturday? Kinda makes it tough since they kick us out at 8. You could always just chill in Westminster till we get back (should be around 9ish unless we stop to eat) and meet at the hot tub store for a Saturday night smashfest.

tech skill practice > practicing live opponents as long as you have something left to learn. For me, I'm on ledge drop double lasers and ledge hop double lasers (since Magus said it could be done relatively Melee-styled).

Once tech skill is down to the point where you have it ingrained in your muscle memory, then it's much more useful to practice against live opponents over tech skill training (it's always good to review on your own time though). I just haven't reached that point yet with all of Falco's little technical shenanigans.

Yeah Pound made me realize just how demanding PM is in terms of practice than regular Brawl. I sorta took P:M tech skill demands for granted, hadn't played for a good two week or so, and I got whooped my first night there (consistently 2, 3-stocked by nearly everyone Saturday night).

Of course, it's always better to play against live opponents, so you can learn of and rid of your bad habits and learn to capitalize on your opponents', but you also gotta have a foundation of tech skill to even commence the mental aspect of Smash. Cuz getting a good read is pretty useless if you can't execute the punishment properly.

But yeah, no retirement for you, TH! Keep that Falco and Sonic sharp!

Yeah I think I'm firmly in the needs more live practice camp. I find that tech skill also comes with the demands of playing real matches, where you have to be able to do things on command. That's how I learned just about everything in melee, except maybe some of Samus' missile canceling shenanigans. And Peach stuff, since I don't play her.

And yes I work every saturday till one, excepting special occasions. I'm going to see about getting that changed since it makes getting to actual tournies difficult. I think the earliest you could expect me at Graphix would be 230-3ish. Closing at 8, that puts me at around five hours of actual play time. It might make more sense just to stay at home and meet up w/ you guys in the evening (if you're still willing after the tourny).

Turnout is looking pretty low, and since most of our crew can't make it anyway, I may just sit that tourney out and stay in Westminster this weekend.

I'll probably hold my decision for a few days and see how the turnout is looking in the thread. btw Laijin called dibs on teaming with me for this.

cmart do you ever have time to play during the week? I pass by your road basically every day around 4:30 on my way home from work, so if you're ever free at that time during the week, it would be super convenient for me to stop by and smash for a while.

Edit: Man, there isn't a single 3DS launch title I'm interested in. In fact, there isn't much I'm interested in at all other than the N64 and Cave Story remakes. Oh well, at least I can play DS games on it.

Waffle, either you're high or your AIM account got hacked, I'm not sure which...

Cena has stepped up his mic skills since the Rock came back. It wasn't this good until recently. CM Punk is the best on the mic right now, easy.

Also, that was a terrible Raw. I took Kiki to her class and missed 30 minutes of it to find out I hadn't missed anything... at all. Worst Raw of the year.

Between my last post and this one, I've spent almost the entire time installing a new car radio. Plus side - I don't have a ghetto radio set up anymore. Negative side - that's eight hours of frustration and rage, and I now have less than six hours for sleep. Overall though, I think I accomplished something today.

@Ceaser - Yes I'm open during the week. I'll actually probably be good tomorrow truth be told. Just give me a ring on my cell first to make sure I'm actually home at the time. I'll pm you my number in case you don't have it.

You only say that cause Sheamus got completely steamrolled :p.

Most of it was pretty much Rock/Cena/Miz though. Nothing else of note happened unless you want to include Orton punting someone in the head and Cole being a jackoff.

The part of the Orton match I liked was Orton punting McGillicutty (dude seriously needs a new name). He plays that deranged psychopath well.

I just wanted some more wrestling. They did like 3 promos in a row without a single punch being thrown, threw the divas out for a bathroom break, and hit us with another promo. I get the need for promos but they have more than one show before Wrestlemania; they don't need to waste them all on one show.

Probably gonna pass today. I haven't gotten my new controller yet and I can't stand my garbage backup controller. I can't make it tomorrow either, or on Mondays, but beyond that, definitely expect me to hit you up for some training.

/still misses college where I could smash every day

Alright. Although I'm open nearly every day at that time, weds and thurs is best for me. And I hear you on the college bit. I used to be able to wake up, throw on clothes, and smash for an hour or two before the day started. :-\
