This isn't surprising. I'm not saying there's no distinct difference in the tiers, because there are for exactly the reasons you've mentioned. But people flock to top tiers, that's just a fact.

lol, then you tell me. What does it mean?

In comparison to Melee, 3S, MvC2, SF4, GG and pretty much any competitive game ever released, I'm saying that Blazblue is pretty well balanced.

In comparison. Not "lol Tager =/=Nu wtf are u talking about". I'm talking about Gimpy having a chance vs M2K's Marth in Melee.
First of all, I never said BlazBlue was horribly unbalanced or even unbalanced negatively. I said it has 3rd Strike balance, where although the top 3 is used to the extremes, has people from Yun all the way to Oro(Kuroda) down in lower mid being used in SBO. That's about 13-14 out of 21 characters being used. Is 3rd Strike balanced to you or unbalanced? You decide.

As for me I think 3rd Strike is faiirrrly balanced but have to acknowledge the top do dominate the bottom. Same with BB.

In comparison to those games you mentioned, I would say BB is in the middle as far as balanced games go..

--It means that a balanced game doesnt mean the bottom tier have a *chance* at beating the top.

Just because you see a Sean beat a Chun, it doesnt mean 3rd Strike is balanced(nor does it mean its not)

Basically its not an indicator of balance at all..

Give us a couple months and we'll all get a new one.

What you say IS really the current tier list, I'm not disagreeing with that:

I'm just saying that some people consider it outdated, but still viable. Don't blame me, I see it on other forums. Someone called it an "average joe" tier list.

dustloop, http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/42760/t1394212-blazblue-offical-tier-list-6-29-09/, shoryuken, blah blah blah...

Does tier discussion usually have comparisons with other games? Just asking, 'cause I'm clueless...
I dunno, I doubt we're going to get a new tier list until the update comes out.

accent core is somewhat balanced. blazblue will get there eventually. when a game can use ALL their characters in tourney at high levels of play, then its balanced. btw arakune/nu vs tager is very lol indeed.

so any rumors about the update? what to expect to be in it? release date?
I'm still thinking that it's just a rumor...

Still, dunno. There's not much about it.

Unless I've been living under a rock this whole time. x_x
I think one of the main guys Akysys posts on SRK and I think he's mentioned the balance patch before and looking for character feedback. You'll have to post in the SRK bb thread though.

I'm thinking sometime after August because they have to wait until SBO is done.

wonder who will stick with their mains even if they would nerf or buff their characters o.o?
I just hope Noel gets a buff and Arakune, and V-13 get nerfed.

Wait, DLC patches? If so then this game is even better than I thought.

I don't think they have to outright try to balance the game, disbalance is not that bad a thing. Just buff up the bottom quite a bit and nerf down the top just a little and the game gets more respectable.

I find number of playable characters a better balance indicator than top vs bottom matchups, so 4->5 characters out of 12 being usable is not bad balance to me at all.

The only thing I really want to see changed is Arakune's curse on block. Anything else would be nice (like it being easier to break out of Jin's ice for pad players), but that cloud nonsense has to change.

Majority is 5/5, 6/4 matchups =D

I REALLY hope they tone down Noel's drive and give her many more options for offense through her pokes, give her more mixup options. Its too annoying losing to Noel players (scrubs) when the delay is bad you can't even block her 2D on reaction.

@Karasu
How bad is MK really? I don't play brawl so I donno how dominant he is but is he anything like Sagat(ST, SF4, maybe even cvs2)?

MK has no bad matchups, worst he has is a 45-55 or something.

Its like Pikachu in SSB64, cept Brawl is a shallower game so its worse in Brawl.

My friend recently bought the game and I'm addicted to it now.

I play as Noel, v-13, and Taokaka.

And I'm doing a BB cosplay as Noel along with Denzi (who is going to be Jin), my little sister (Taokaka), and a few other people for Ohayocon 2011(?).

It looks like you're cancelling your j.C, 2C, etc. combos too fast. Each move can hit several more times before you use the next one, doing a lot more damage. And you might want to use her supers less so you can save your meter for more RC's, but it's not a huge deal. Other than that you seem to have the general Nu BS down so good job.
yea i have a habit of doing combos too fast during a real match, i do it fine in training mode, hopefully over time i get use to it.

BlazBlue seems ok to me, but seems AKSYS made combo's way easier than the guilty gear series which is part of the fun in fighters right?showing off insane combos that you worked your a$$ off to master.lol. Either way Haku-men owns and all i ever see online are Iron Tager.

That was exactly my first reaction when I picked up BlazeBlue for the first time and realized that it was dumbed down so it even complex combos are "possible" by even the average players.

Course the more I play BlazeBlue the more I really miss Guilty Gear since even though people say that there's a character for anyone that plays I'm missing my Robo-Ky and I-No more than life itself.

But Bang is an acceptable choice for me since I feel he might be the closest thing in 2-D fighters as a captain falcon with how manly his attacks are and saying everything he does.

I don't know if I would say dumbed down, because easier execution isn't really dumbing down. I would say Blazblue is more acessible and the learning curve is certainly easier.

Or else Sf4 is just a dumbed down version of Super Turbo. =D

--Guilty Gear along with the Darkstalkers series has the best character design. !!

I like how easy it is to make up decent combos on the spot, at least for certain characters. Didn't play too many fighting games.

Is it bad that I find myself mashing the button until I see it come out for most moves?

If anyone here uses Ragna, when I pick them back up with 22C, and I mash 5B, they instant block it or it'll actually hit and count as a real combo. What am I doing wrong?

@Perfect Hero: I suppose dumbed down might be a oversimplification of it but honestly after so many guilty gears and learning to muscle memory FRC BlazeBlue does seem almost too lenient with combos...which sometimes feel limited compared to what Guilty Gear let you do.

@Shake~: I'm not a Ragna user myself but I've played with a fair number and all that I could offer as advice is either mashing can make it hit or miss sometimes and to fine tune your timing I would do training mode and practice on a Dummy that will try to recover as soon as they can. Try mashing 5B and timing it to determine what works better. Mashing normally doesn't result in combos with most games where you should flow from each attack to another so they link properly.

But again I'm not Ragna

alot of fighting games lately are made to be easier in order to get the casual player's attention, it's not AKSYS.... and get your developer knowledge right, it's Arc System Works that made it, AKSYS just distributes.

SF4, BB, KoF 12. were all given the treatment of making it accessable for casual players

if you wanna see ridiculous easy combos with some creativity, look at Melty Blood

They made the game easier to get into, basically making the learning curve all the way down.

But that isn't dumbing it down.

An example of dumbed down to me, is Starcraft 2 MBS that lets you hotkey multiple buildings to 1 hotkey(as oppose to 1 per hotkey).

1. this removes a certain execution barrier

2. it reduces the decision making between macro or micro
- thus dumbing down the game IMO

but yeah I understand where you're coming from

the game combo system is very easy and its also very easy because it has a magic like system of (weak attack link to strong attack) thing going for it.

Is this game out in Europe yet? want to see if I can buy a 360 for it when I'll be back home in September
According to Spadefox, BlazBlue is not coming out in Europe. You could import it, but the 360 has a region-lock.

So, unless you get a PS3, you're outta luck.

As soon as you said that, it's coming out around Europe with more characters. I guess the new characters may be DLC later on for the rest of the systems.

I still need to go through story mode... I've only played 5 minutes of it, maybe?
Come to think of it, maybe I should play the game more. The only character I know how to use at all is Rachel.
