ive been listening to nostalgic vgm (and finishing uc apps) while i wait for dinner and i came up with a list of games i really want to play with smashers:

1. power stone
2. chu chu rocket
3. any 4-player side-scrolling beat'em up (TMNT, Gauntlet, that Marvel arcade game, Scott Pilgrim??)
4. twisted metal
5. bomberman

but mostly power stone and chu chu rocket

hey stab remember when we were all excited to play brawl at jdm's house and then realized how bad it was after 40 minutes. I definitely haven't touched brawl since then

Good stuff. We played brawl at anthony's again recently and I have to say I do a good job of making Irvine not want to play brawl.

Also, you gotta hurry up and finish that UC app dude. It definitely does not take 2 months to do, no matter how busy you are.

People should help me make decisions on certain things because I am not explicitly educated on computer hardware (just basics)

Errr, I can tell that some of them are obviously better than others, but I'd appreciate it if whoever answered could explain to what extent A is better than B (especially in processors)

I'm getting a laptop, so I can't exactly pick and choose, and these are featured in some of them.

I find these charts useful (although I can't guarantee their accuracy)

As you probably know, newer is almost always better and more expensive.

So in terms of CPU age,
Pentium Dual Core < Core 2 Duo < Core i# Series

In terms of i# series, higher number means more powerful (also higher power consumption can mean less battery life).
e.g. i3 < i5 < i7

And of course, higher clock speed (hertz) means faster processing speed.



For memory, I honestly haven't seen the difference first-hand, but DDR3 > DDR2. You can probably find lots of articles on why it's better.


Graphics, Uhhh, those 3 might all be the same thing? Not too sure, but as far as I'm concerned, you're not going to see a whole lot of difference between onboard video cards. All these things can be found via Google searches. :D

Yeah, I was aware of Core iX > Core 2 Duo > Pentium Dual Core

But I saw some Lenovo laptops with Core i5 processors with 1.33 GHz processing power, whereas I saw a bunch of Core 2 Duos with like, 2.0 - 2.3 GHz processing power

Sorry to interrupt this computer/haiku session, but I'm in town and I'm curious who wants to play tomorrow? I'll bring my recording setup. I am relying on Ryan's car for transportation, so I'd prefer if we didn't drive just to Matt's to play in a 3-person rotation. Who is free?
