Ok so the first page has a how to, but how do I use stage hacks that are not the ones on the first page? or are those simply templates?

this question has probably already been answered ages ago but does anyone know why/what to do about pokemon transformations taking a little longer when using textures?
It's because it has to draw the texture from the SD card. Or rather, a texture on the wii is worth two in the sd. lol, jk, but yeah, just loading from the sd.

I always thought that it loaded faster from the SD card, not slower. At least that's how it is for me.

how do you setup a .gct? Do you do it through code manager? If so, How? or do you simple copy and paste into the folders in your SD card?

So apparently vertex hacking moves a character's hurt boxes which makes replays mess up. I really really really like vertex hacks. Is there any way around this?

Do you need homebrew for JUST texture hacks on characters? I don't want custom moves or special stages or anything, just characters.
Yeah you do, but if you don't want to softmod your Wii, there's always Smash Stack. You could load GeckoOS through Brawl without having to install anything.

Well, yeah, whatever Homebrew-loading method you use to run the Homebrew Channel installer, be it Twilight Hack, Bannerbomb, Smash Stack or Indiana Pwns, you can use to run whatever you want, be it Gecko or Riivolution. In theory, you could even run WiiExplorer this way and have a Homebrew menu without having to install anything to the system menu.

Hmm well I did the twilight hack a couple years back so I'm not so up to date on the other methods but I suppose you're right...

ok looking at that guide for the first time, i followed his instructions for stage textures. so i got gecko and the code from the infinite replay guide, and so when i created that directory: wii>private>...>meleee i didn't know which folder to put my stage file into. and the ones i got from brawl vault are an entire folder, so which file within those folders am i supposed to rename to STG(stagename).PAC

Every character does NOT need their .pac file but, you need to name the .pac file the same way you named the .pcs file except without the .pcs extension (just the .pac extension instead) so Captain Falcon's .pac file would look like this: FitCaptain01.pac (of his first color, you need to change the number according to what you set it to for the .pcs, this is merely an example, it will not always be 01). The characters who DO need their .pac files are below:

Code:
...
Bowser
...
Does this mean Bowser needs multiple .pac files in his folder (like one for each texture you have for him) or just one?

Sorry if i wasn't supposed to ask, but i honestly couldn't find a Q&A thread where this question would fit.

You need FitBowserXX.pcs and FitBowserXX.pac, replacing XX with whatever number the skin is. You only have to do this for skins you're replacing.

remind me what the .pac files do again.

thats what makes the character after they go through zelda/sheik, super sonic, and warioman type transformations right?

Depends on the type of .pac file.

Something like FitMario00.pac would be a costume file, just like FitMario00.pcs.

Regular FitMario.pac files are his moveset and some other stuff, and FitMarioMotion.pac would be his animations.

FitMarioFinal.pac is for Mario's Final Smash. However, only certain Final Smash PAC files can be texture edited.

Now, while most Final Smashes affect all color slots, the Pokemon Trainer is unique in that he has 5 Final Smash PAC files; one for each color slot. Also, Falco uses FitFoxFinal.pac, so he's the only fighter who does not have his own Final Smash PAC file.

Mind blown.

I'd also like to add, for completeness sake, is that the reason WHY Transforming characters need both files is that for some reason when they transform they always load from the PACs, even if they started the match loading from the PCS files (maybe it loads faster when uncompressed?).

For most characters, the PAC files are only loaded during single player modes and replays, so for that reason, it might be worth having them for characters with modified bones too so replays don't desync, but it's not necessary.

umm thats not exactly what I was looking for.

For example, when I want to change my music so that when I play on Final destination, instead of the FD song, it plays guiles theme from SF4. all I have to do is make the brstm (did that) and in the game that specific song has a letter/number combo attached to it, so all I have to do is make the guiles theme file B24.brstm or whatever on my sd card and that makes guiles theme play when I fight on FD.

My only problem is that I cant find the list of what letter/number combos correlate to which songs on which stages. Thats what i need.

Hello.
I am about to buy an SD card today since I don't have one yet, and texture hacking would be nice. Just a question:

How do I install the Homebrew channel? Is it available on the Wii Store or do I need to transfer it from a computer somehow? If it's the latter, I don't know how to do that, so could someone explain it to me? x:

For Smashville, is it STGSMASHVILLE.PAC ?

How do I load up Brawl through Gecko OS?

(x.x)a any help wold be greatly appreciated.

1. It's unlicened software so you have to download it from the net and hack it onto your Wii using a glitch in the Wii Menu/a game. There are tutorials out there. Look for one relevant to your system menu version. I recommend the Letter Bomb method.

2. No, for Smashville there are 5 slots for the different times of day. Look at the first couple of posts for a key on what stages correspond to what IDs.

3. Insert disc, load GeckoOS, make sure cheats are activated and launch game. Simple.
